99.9% of all the women in the galaxy want to sleep with Shepard after a mere handful of conversations. Yeah, I'll be Shepard. Gettin n dem quarian hips. Donkin Miranda's Badonkadonk donk. Exploring the mysteries of azure with Liara. I've got my priorities straight.

Don't know how you managed that but I'd like to hear. I have only met two (counting Liara) in ME and four in ME2.

I run a tight ship. Any of those red shirts gossip about my personal affairs and they all die. I don't need them. I've got EDI and Joker to run the ship. Without all the gossip I man can have all the relationships he wants without the others finding out. Also, have to get all that spyware removed from the ship. Also, Kasumi is banned from the ship.

Wow, lots of depressing posts. IF the world goes to ****, I'm not worried: I have guns and plentiful ammo.

I have about 700 rounds for my go-to rifle stored in my closet. You know, better have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.;)

That's the spirit!

I would concur if this resourcefulness would show up soon. I can't say this is going to happen as long as most of the ppl on this world are starving and only a few thousands decide for billions.

I think the Drell in ME series show our true destiny: an overcrowded world stripped of any resources to get of this world. And no, I don't believe FTL will be possible unless we find a physical law that allows us to do FTL without violating theory of relativity. Space Arks are possible to construct NOW, but I think we won't have the resources left in 30, 40 years.

And I don't see that ANYONE is caring about tomorrow. Most of mankind live either in presence or even in the past, but only few care about the future. I'm one of the few kinda.

I agree with this whole heartedly. I don't disagree with the potential resourcefulness, and adaptability of humanity, but you're definetly right about how most humans either don't give a crap about the future, are overly pre-occupied with the past, and can only see whats infront of them. Until they get over this stuff, I don't see humanity accomplishing anything overly significant.

Lastly I'm surprised at your observation of modern humanity, and the drell. It's pretty interesting.

Shepard? Me? Well... It's weekend. I don't have anything better to do. But only if I don't have to go on my knees to grab those damned thermoclips. :P

I wouldn't mind existing in the M.E universe, but I really wouldn't want to be Shepard. Too much responsibility!

I don't know about you, but I'm trying to become as disciplined as some of the paragons of both real life and fiction in my life.

So instead of staying as the pudgy gaming geek (aka, the stereotype), I've started a workout regimen to become something more like the characters I've come to love. It's an interesting personal motivation, and somewhat geeky, but any motivation to become more like the characters I love is worth it.

And not just fitness either, but Shepard and company are people that excel at what they do, literal paragons. So I've devoted more time and work, powering through times when I'd otherwise be too tired, or maybe too distracted to pursue career dreams.

But as to Shepard's life in the fiction. Wel, the Chinese have a curse: "May you live in interesting times."

Tto be honest, I'd rather not live in the crazy, deadly, times of the Mass Effect universe, or be the person who experienced what Shepard has. On the other hand, Shepard is someone who has overcome his past and become something much greater, a story that's powerful among real-life paragons of our times.

Being Shepard? Man, haven't you seen how much his/her life sucks? Dude/tte can't catch a break, ever.

Well... if I got to bro the hell up with Garrus, then the answer would be yes. Otherwise, I'll gladly stay in this boring old world where the fate of the galaxy isn't hanging on a thin thread (right now).

Go join the Army, Navy, USMC, Coast Guard, Air Force. Then you can actually "live" it.

Funny, thats exactly how I started and discovered my favorite hobby: exercising.

Years ago I was a rather scrawny gaming nerd, one day I had enough and I asked myself if I could get in shape like one of those XYZ game protagonists. I mean, why the hell not?
A huge goal considering I was in bad shape, that was three years ago. Now I bench press 300lbs 10 reps 4 stints, do 15 reps 4 stints 310 lbs shrugs, biceps-curl 77lbs 8 reps 5 stints no problem.

And boy its still so much fun I exercise 5 days a week. That decision totally improved my life and my health. And some people say computer games are bad for your health and only accelerates degeneration of the youth. HAH!

Absolutely not.  I am who I am, a product of my upbringing and experiences, I could not then be someone else.  Even if I could change places,  I would no longer be me.

And the way Shep derps through romance sometimes would concern me with how he would handle my wife and kids.

OP you should clarify the exact parameters of this. You mean full Shepard as in anything he can do both physically and mentally we can do right? This includes dealing with psychological trauma? Also CptData brings up a good point. At what point will we be inserted? Birth? Puberty? The start of ME1? Just so people aren't confused since most people's objections seem to be "I couldn't deal with x" But Shepard can deal with x. Therefore we would be able to deal with x, right? The rules of the ME universe would also stay completely unchanged in all respects right? Also let's talk about the switch itself. If you do it, does it mean you are erased from this existence and no one here will remember you? Will you still have the memories of this past life?

Will you remain unable to have nuanced and intellectually sophisticated dialogue?

Will your relationships and emotions be forced upon you, rendering you incapable of reconciling with personal-antagonists and trapped with fawning admirers no matter what you do?

Will common sense and cause and effect be rendered moot for you, with nearly every choice leading to effectively the same results?

Will the rules of the universe bend to you, so that nice things are nearly always the best choices?

Will you feel pain/exhaustion/discomfort/stress?

Will you still be controlled by thousands of sweaty-palmed individuals, each of whom will treat you as property and insist that they are you?

Will you actively wish for mass-genocide to become reality in order to provide you a modicrum of entertainment?

I was gonna say yeah but then I realised my Shep has no family and even if she did, it wouldn't be my family.
If my family came with, sure ;)
But I say that because I'm bored.
I'm pretty sure Shepard would love a boring life free of Reapers.

LOL! Mass Effect is my drug of choice.

Joking aside. I have a great life that I love, but yes, if I could be Shepard, I would. Certainly. When I play, I AM Shepard, so in the meantime that's good enough for me.

Actually, I wonder why no one saw this earlier. I mean, the Drell history shows the current future of mankind. Resources are already scarce or used up, our numbers are still growing. Billions are starving, but our numbers are growing. In some places on Earth people are already fighting over water and food. And our numbers are still growing, we'll hit 8 billions in less than fifteen years. Actually, when I was born (1982) we had approx 4.6 Billion people living on this planet. 1992 we had 5.5 Billions. 2002 we hit 6.3 Billions and today we have 7 Billions. 2022 there will be 7.8 Billion people alive.

The worst thing about that isn't the amount of people alone. All of them want to live like we guys in the first world. All want a car, a big house, plenty of food and water. And the world isn't able to give that many resources. We -are- already facing the destiny of the Drell in some areas and it looks as if things won't change any time soon.

That's why.

I'm sorry for that political stuff ... won't bother you anymore

Hell, no!
First I dont want to die and come back to life. If I die, I want to stay dead.
I don't want to fight something like the Reapers.
I don't want to be a soldier.
Be born without parents (Earth-born), have my family murdered (colonist), never go to school (Spacer).
I don't want to be a Sole Survivor or kill my whole squad for one mission. (Ruthless)

On the plus side, I'd have a hot biotic boyfriend.

On the minus side, I'd be plagued with nightmares of a past galactic extinction and I'd have the fate of current galactic civilization resting on my shoulders. I'd also have to deal with the haunting questions raised by being dead for quite some time with no sense of anything but oblivion behind that final door.

On balance, then, no. Kaidan's awesome and all, but even fandom has limits. ;-)

Yeah, I probably would. Scoring with Kaidan and having access to advanced medical techniques to care for all my chronic ailments would be a good trade off for everyone wanting me dead.
