No, never.
For so many reasons.

sure, it's a stressful job, but i'm/shep is up to the task.

Riiiiiiiiiighttttttttt.

You think you're up to the task without militairy training whatsoever? Or am I mistaken and are you actually a commando soldier in real-life? I highly doubt it.

I imagine if it were possible to become Shepard, life would start at the beginning.

It usually does. That's what I heard anyway.

@CrutchCricket: Small ****** are not a disadvantage.  In fact, I'd say they're just as awesome as big ******.  They're always cute (while big ****** can sometimes be gross and smelly), and they don't get in the way.

Hey you brought it up. I withhold judgement on the usefulness of breast sizes.

Since Shep dies in ME2 I think I'll say no.

NO. But you know, if I was as strong as Shepard was, and when I died it would just be game over and I could start over again, then sure.

Of course. I'm a killing machine, get to travel places, get loads of cash and minerals to beef up my arsenal, save humanity, and bang various females of different species. I play and take decisions and choices as if he were me, and plus, I plan on being a soldier anyways. win-win

Hmmmm....let's think about this. I'd have a job that I'd love, but my Employers and the Council wouldn't believe a damned word that I'd say without hard evidence to back it up. I'd have a ship that I'd love, but the Alliance is going to take it away from me when they inevitably lock me up for doing my job. I'd have a smoking hot girlfriend, but then she'd go ice queen on Horizon and accuse me of treason while she shakes with rage and seriously considers putting a bullet in my skull. I would spend a great deal of time, effort, sweat, and blood trying to save a galaxy that keeps spitting in my face and pissing away the chances I continue to throw to them and to top it all off, I get the amazing chance to butcher nearly 305,000 men, women, and children in order to save billions more.

If that isn't enough, in ME3 I will be sacrificing innocent men, women, and children by the millions, good times! Plus, since people never change I will be dealing with the same narrow minded butt wipes that I had to deal with before the Reapers tried to kill everybody if I even manage to pull of the impossible and survive once again. So all things considered...no, I don't want to be Shepard in RL.

I realize that that position will be difficult to understand, but there you have it. In RL, there is emotional trauma involved with making those kinds of decisions on the scale that they will need to be made. That is why combat soldiers leave home and return changed. That is why police officers commit suicide at far higher rates than does the rest of the public, and that is why actually being Shepard is not what you believe it to be.

Hell no! If you haven't noticed Shepard's life kinda sucks. If I had to go through half of what my Shep's gone through I think I would go nuts. Talk about pressure.

Maybe if I was hella brave and strong and could just start over when I died I would!

I think it would be cool, though, to live in the Mass Effect universe (especially since we all know Shep is going to save it). Where would you guys live if you were in that galaxy?

I romanticize the idea of traveling through space I potentially would trade times with shepard if the Reapers weren't real in his time.  But trade my life for his ?  Who I am to be him ?  Never.

Is there a home planet of the Asari? If they have one, I'd love to live there. Hell yeah. A man on a planet settled by a species that consist of females only...

I'd like to be a mix between the two. An absurd level of awesome, but without having to listen to Udina whine all day.

Hmm... NO! When will Shepard EVER find time to play Dragon age? WHEN?! I mean really! Do you think he has video games? Ok, sure you'd get to go around and blow things up and if the people you care about die you can just open up a wheel and bring them back... but getting spaced? You against the galaxy? Real life is hard enough, please and thanks! If you were asking about life being like a boring video game where normal things happen, but there were save spots and we never had to take bathroom breaks I would look into it. Switching with a guy EVERYthing is out to get? Ye-- No...

While being the hero of the galaxy is tempting, being a relentless undead cyborg who spends most of his time murdering mercenaries is not really my thing, thanks

No, I wouldn't. I'm really not the "Marine" type. Not the kind of person to want to pick through the rubble with a gun, you know? Plus I wouldn't want all that responsibility or pressure. I don't envy Shepard at all. None of the crap he has to deal with is easy.

^^^^ Whoa. We agree on something.

Clemenceau once said. "In order to act, you must be somewhat insane. A reasonably sane person is satisfied with thinking."

Now if it were just bombing around the galaxy, visiting worlds, enjoying their local cultures, visiting art museums, and didn't involve any killing, reapers, responsibility, and allowed me to live as a hedonist, that would be another thing. It would also depend upon the viability of the Lazarus rebuild. And what happened to the 999999999 credits that Shepard had built up in ME1??? Or did the Alliance take it? If so they owe big money.

But this reaper crap, collectors, contract killing, making decisions that affect hundreds of thousands of people? Not my cup of tea.

Skyrim is cold, though. And I ran into the Thalmor Inquisition hauling a guy off for "questioning" about a Talos Cult. If he wouldn't give any information even if he didn't know, the were going to kill them. Lydia and I butchered those elf bastards. Skyrim for the Nords! Not that I had a choice in the matter. Got the two quests (Join: Stormcloaks/Legion) and was exploring in an area north of the college, and encountered an Ice Wraith, which fell to its death in a crevasse, without my even drawing a weapon. Stormcloak now.

Before all you nerds jump at the chance to be Shepard and hang out with a bunch of hot alien babes, think about it for a second...

1. You are constantly experiencing near-death situations
2. You actually DID die
3. The galaxy is about to end
