@Jreezy - apparently you missed the part where I said I'm looking forward to multi play.

@DieBytheSword - bioware themselves said that they want the COD crowd. I'm on an iPad so I'm not going to link it, but a google search will show you to the article, and direct quote. Search "Bioware we want call of duty crowd" and you'll get it.

Next time do a little reading before posting gentlemen.

Ill be honest, I was cool with the idea of multi play after reading the details and customization. Then the leaked videos came out and it really looked boring and repetitive. The customization was only in the primary and secondary color of your armor, you couldn't customize armor, or your characters head. Humans all have preset masks determined by classes. Aside from that though, the gameplay just didn't seem like fun. It was just run around and shoot some Cerberus. Run around download some data from some sites and kill some Cerberus. Rinse and repeat.

It's called a Horde mode. And it seems to work pretty well for Halo and Gears of War.

I for one can't wait to play both co-op and singleplayer. Ah, the beauty of opinions.

If you hate multiplayer so much, just play it to make scrubs and Talimancers miserable. You'll enjoy it after awhile, I assure you.

I did, and that quote came from the Dragon Age developers. FAIL.

Actually I just looked at the article, and the title is somewhat misleading.

"We have data that shows there are a lot of people that enjoy playing RPGs although they won’t necessarily call them RPGs. They’ll play Fallout, Assassin’s Creed and even Call Of Duty, which have these progression elements – you’re putting points into things – but they don’t necessarily associate that as an RPG. So we think that if we expand that out we’ll attract a much bigger audience.”-Fernando Melo, DAII Senior Producer

They're not saying they think ME3 will be a CoD killer, but their using CoD as an example of how people incorporate RPG features into traditionally non-RPG genres, and how it's been effective. So the reverse should be true too; implementing features that traditionally wouldn't be in an RPG game, such as Mass Effect's combat system.

I do plenty of reading, thank you for your concern.  Regardless of what PR bloviating happened, they know they aren't getting the CoD crowd.  You say this yourself, what makes you think they can't see that for themselves is beyond me.  They don't want a CoD killer.  It can't be a CoD killer, they want a few people who play CoD to buy ME3, sure, and so comes the hype machine.

Next time do a little critical thinking before answering a post, not so polite.

I know you guys think this is going to get the COD crowd hooked, but it isn't. If BF3 can't take COD gamers from MW3, what makes you think ME3 will?

I've been playing the Call Of Duty games for years, I've been playing the Battlefield games for years.

Inbetween those times I've also played the Fallout games, Elder Scrolls, the sports game, etc. Pretty much any genre of gaming. If I find a game fun and enjoyable I'll play it. I don't knock people for the games they play, despite how stupid or uninteresting I might find them to be.

Seriously drop the elitist attutide like this has any actual importance in reality, if you're so damn displeased don't play the game in March. Don't give them your money, gameplay in MP doesn't look fun? Because you played it yourself right? OH THAT'S RIGHT. YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED IT. YOU'VE JUST SEEN THE VIDEOS.

Get off the foolery about the "COD" crowds. We're all video gamers, you aren't special.

agree with this completely, play games because they are good not because of the genre you consider them to be

1. It'll damage the context.

Eh, no. It won't. People are always asking about this expanding universe and once they finally got one that shows more than Shepard's world, they want it be about only Shepard, even though this multiplayer barely affects his/her progress or decisions at all? Okay.

2. Multiplayer doesn't equal success

That's the thing, though. It's not trying to be the best multiplayer out there. It's just trying to be a nice alternative to someone who wants to play Mass Effect with his/her friends and still get a little bonus out of it when connecting that character to the singleplayer. More options? BAD! We can't have that!

3. We don't want relentless combat

Same old and weak argument that doesn't work here either. Even if they did drop the multiplayer now, (which would be very stupid) they won't get anything back. Also. If you don't like it, DON'T PLAY IT. If I don't like a multiplayer mode like free-for-all, then I'm not going to whine about how it could've been a better investment somewhere else (because, you know, the fans always knows best when it comes to economical investments). No, I'll simply ignore it, and do something else with the game.

4. It won't end here

Optional apps are optional.

5. Decisions lose impact

Since the co-op is only giving simple war assets to you and you have to use that brain of yours to do the critical decisions in singleplayer, I don't see how that works. Or makes sense, for that matter. It'd be like if I got some extra funds in a multiplayer mode and then claim that my choices in the singleplayer (like which squadmate to assign to which task and such) will be weaker because of it. Which doesn't make any goddamn sense, since all that'll happen is that I'll have an easier time requiring certain objects. Or it's like saying that if I got some money from someone before going to the grocery store, I can't make the right decision when it comes to the products I should and want to buy.

Does that make any sense? No.

6. It's second-hand goods

Again. Don't like it, don't play it. Deal with it.

It's like they copied the statements and arguments from certain threads of this forum without a second thought.

If you're going to argue against multiplayer (again), at least come up with something new.

Are you angry at something? Something on your mind?  Where do you get the impression that I don't like Cod, or Tes, or sport games? I play all genres. I have EVERY Halo and CoD game except for MW3. I fail to see how pointing out that they're attempting to change their consumer base can come across as elitist. You seem to be one of those kids who thinks that if you complain about the reduction of rpg elements your an elitist.  I play Shooters as well as RPGs. I enjoy both of them for what they are. I for one am glad that ME3 is getting multiplayer, and am quite honestly disappointed that PVP isn't included so once again, are you mad at something?

How you translated what he said into that is astounding.

It's because he's hopped on the "BioWare is selling out to the CoD fans, even though the CoD fans can't give less of a f**k about Mass Effect" train.

Definitely what it seems like. I wonder if he'd deny that observation?

True. Even so, the achievements I've stumbled across in the script were pretty easy.

I see no reason to drop it, it will be a fun diversion no doubt. It won't be A level gameplay or anything, you'd be unreasonable to expect that, but it will be good. I'm more worried about the single-player, I'm hoping the decisions made in previous games will actually have an effect that isn't negligible this time around(I'm looking at you, ME2).

Can anyone come up with 6 reasons why it should be included? I mean I'm gonna play it some, but the tacked on feeling is palpable and fairly evident. The other games were a great success without it, and it will likely be much less active 6 months after release and decline continuously thereafter.

Again I'm not opposed to it per se, but also don't see its need for inclusion either

It's not even a well-informed article. There are things that are just blatantly wrong and/or misleading. They say that the multiplayer is required to play, but that's obviously not true. And then they suggest that this new mode has come at the cost of RPG elements but ME3 has more RPG elements than ME2. WTF? Did the writer of that article stick his fingers in his ears as soon as he heard "MP in ME3"?

Here's your big problem...

They've seen the game.

You haven't.

It's very likely that they know more about it than you do,  and as I'm expecting,  it's designed to be an impediment to force people to buy Online Passes,  not an option.

Given that they're utterly wrong in more places than one, it doesn't really matters who's seen it or not.

1. Replayability
2. Expands franchise to a larger market
3. Allows you to enjoy Mass Effect with your friends
4. Allows multiple options to achieve the optimal endings, rather than just one
5. Allows you to play as the different species
6. It's FUN! :D
