Well basically if you've played Awakening and The Stone Prisoner you should notice that Matthias and Anders have a striking resemblance between them face-wise, they are both blondes, apparently both mages, and both voiced by Greg Ellis(Although Anders' voice was recasted for DAII. But that's beside the point.)

We are never told much about Anders family, except that they come from the Anderfels(hence his nickname, Anders.), which is "German in character" according to Gaider.  And I've noticed that the name Wilhelm is a German name. And the names Matthias and Amalia are also used in Germany (behind the name. :P)

So my wild theory, is that Wilhelm and his wife had two children. One is Matthias and the other is Anders. And the latter was discovered as a mage and taken to the Circle while the other either successfully hid or was just able to use Wilhelm's devices because of a blood relation(since TSP implies that Wilhelm was a blood mage.)

It would also bring up curiosities about why he started going by Anders. Perhaps his name was embarassing to Fereldans. A name like Ludwig, Heinz, or Gunter? lol

Interesting theory!

Greg Ellis did Cullen in DAO/DAII, so couldn't do Anders as well. Would have preferred they changed Cullen's VA and kept Ellis as Anders. I miss Awakening Anders.

Cullen wasn't a big or important character in Origins, Anders was. He should have kept Greg Ellis' voice.

They did the same thing to Isabela because of Anora(or so I hear), and she didn't even appear in DAII like Issy did.
