What are some of your greatest fears?

ufunny
I had a few fears when I was younger, when I was 5 I slipped into the deep end of a pool, but no one bothered to help me up for at least 20 seconds, until a family member noticed and pulled me up. I can swim pretty well now though so I no longer have that fear. I used to have a big fear of the dark before, but I've grown used to it since. Total darkness isn't much of a problem either, for some reason, though the woods still freak me out (cookie for reference) I was incredibly socially inept and could barely talk to anyone I didn't know for a while, but that has long since gone. I've never had a fear of insects or anything like that. I dunno, really, I've grown an interest/affinity in the unknown over the years.
I dunno, at this rate the only thing I guess I truly fear by now is getting a fear of something, if that makes sense. Oh,and inevitable death. But everyone fears death, though it's not so bad if you accept it'll happen one day.

And isn't that the great pitfall of human psychology and emotions? To hate how you feel about something (or someone, as the case may be) - yet be unable to control, suppress, or erase that feeling no matter how hard you try. It just gnaws at you from the inside, like a worm eating through the core of an apple.
A miserable state to find yourself in, indeed. I'm unfortunate to have experienced that too many times in my life.
I find fears a great gift. They will save your arse from a danger or dirt that can really harm you or completely destroys you.
As a pessimistic approach to the world and people, It is quiet helpful in your life.
Just imagine that you're on a mountain and a sudden fast wind through you down on a rock ... Or become friend with scorpions, and it will be your last day of life!
Always be completely ready for everything in yourlife and avoid dangers as long as possible or get yourself injured, robbed, killed etc.

Also, otters. There's just something about them, like they know things they couldn't possibly know.

Also speeding in a car (> 90 mph). I've lost two friends because of car accidents.
And deadly illnesses.

It doesn't have to be fear that does that to you - it could be any strong emotion. Love, hate, anger, depression, anxiety - one could feel such things even if they didn't want to, being unable to control or stop them at all. You could stop those feelings from influencing your thoughts, of course, but the feelings themselves just linger on, tormenting you from the inside out.
But I digress - this topic is about fear alone.

1. Failure, this can happen even before I attempt a task if something appears difficult, complex or just something that I don't know about ot have never done before. Maybe that's just my negative thinking
2.Most Insects, the only exception to this rules are the everyday ants, flies and mosquitoes but pretty much everything else freaks me out (even cockroaches)
3.Being eaten(alive or otherwise), this one is quite ridiculous I know but it's the worst possible fate that I can imagine

Snakes and ladders. Not the game, I've no problem with that and enjoyed it in my youth but the actual animals and objects. I don't flee at the sight of a ladder or anything but I don't like going up them, I used to work in a warehouse and rather than use a ladder to get to 15ft high shelves I'd clamber up the shelves like a monkey and leap off them again. I don't trust ladders at all. Snakes are just evil creatures.
I've an ex/stalker who scares the sh*t out of me too.
Hmm Lets hope she never climbs up on a ladder and throws snakes at you.
As to me, hmm...I could be an ass, say Batman, or Ragnorok. But I'll say powerlessness, I mean like being aware but not being able to move, act, nothing. Also Given all the times I've been gassed, and cut open at medical centers, I always worry that the next time they put me to sleep I might not wake up. Which is rather silly as I have been under with the gas, 10 times.
Correction 9 times, the last was with an IV injection.

Sharks. When I was a kid me and my brother raced to a buoy but when he turned to go back we saw a shark like 10 feet away. We just hung onto that buoy for I don't know how long until we went back. So I don't swim much at beaches.
