For whatever it's worth, at least they were the first to try, whoever comes after will surely do better.

Too bad Bioware decided to pamper just a portion of the fans.

Even better question: What was the point in introducing ten new squadmates in ME2 and make everything so needlessly complicated for ME3?
It really annoys me that Bioware got carried away with adding a ridiculous amount of squadmates in ME2, because it feels like they didn't even think about how this would impact ME3 at all. And now people like me, who like squadmates from ME2 more, get to deal with unsatifsying temp and side missions. Well, most likely unsatisfying...I just can't trust the leaked info to be particularly improved upon.
I'm happy that people who love the VS or Liara get them back. I'm fine with people who love Team Dextro getting them as well (I think they are pretty damn lucky for having their favorite squadmate throughout the entire trilogy).
To be honest, I'm just personally pretty bitter that I probably don't get to see the end with Jack, Miranda, Samara, or Mordin, who are easily my favorite characters. That is what I was really looking forward to in this game - not so much killing Reapers, but doing it with characters I've grown really fond of. It added a whole level of emotional investment to the game that I just don't have anymore. Not much I can do about it though, I guess. It seems too late to be hoping for any change at this point.

The ME2 squad was already to big and suffered for it. (Lack of banter, for the most part the squad membes did not even take notice of each other, litte interaction of squadmates and enviroment outside of NPC specific missions).android654 wrote...
If you've read the scrtipt, you'd know several characters are given subplots which really detract from their Character history, movitations and personality altogether. It's in essence, bad writing on the part of the developers to add in characters as an after thought rather than give them importance. I understand that making a Bethesda sized Mass Effect would be a huge undertaking, but that's not necessary for this game. Variables were meant to be the driving force behind Mass Effects marketing since the first game, but with the squad Make up, it feels like it didn't matter. The whole ME3 squad could have been just fine with Liara, the VS and X amount of people surviving from ME2 --those ME2 members being the ones who had the most relevance to your playthrough, whether it be LI or loyalty status. Even if you kill almost everyone in your SM, you have to have at least 2 members, which would give you a 5 man squad for the game at the very least. This would have been a much smarter and plot relevant way of creating the ME3 squad. Hell, throw in Vega and the secret female assassin or the Prothean as well. That gives you a minimum of 6 members for any ME2 players, which allows for 6 people to return, from ME2, and if you exclude Zaeed and Kasumi since they're DLC members, you're left with Ten interchangeable members who could fit into 6 slots to mirror the ME2 squad size. Does that really sound too unreasonable to fit into the "Complex" plot of ME3?
Since that's the case, Bioware has lost a lot of points with their PS3 fans, and those of us on the 360 and PC who prefer ME2. If they aren't careful in the execution of this, they'll be charged with giving a bigger disappointment than they did for DA2, considering the hype and base for this title is far larger than that of Dragon Age..
Increasing the number for ME3 by adding Liara (adept), Vega (soldier), and spoiler (engineer) (all required so that one of each class is present for certain) would only make those problems far worse.
Putting the ME2 crew into the roles of non controlable NPCs makes it far easier to adress the possible outcomes of ME2 and is actually a good way to make the outcome of the suicide mission more important. (E.g. Mordin´s replacement is better/worse regarding the genophage cure leading to more/less Krogan soldiers; Wrex cannot be decieved (thereby forcing you to choose between Salarian and Krogan support) but you can destroy the cure and fool Wreave (getting both the Salarians and the Krogan to fight for you); without a loyal Tali as admiral it becomes impossible to broker a peace between Quarians and Geth meaning that you will loose one of them; ...)
Though I have to agree that giving Tali and Garrus special treatment by making them members of the squad again was a bad move.

Jacob COULD join, but I hear he has things going on, but I'm not sure what he's doing.
Miranda, out of the 4, makes the most sense for joining, since her plot material all involves Cerberus (And her father), yet she can't come. If anything, just let me recruit her after helping her with her business, damnit.

Hate Jacob, but Bioware has already said they'll be about 8 squadies so they would take up half, I only agree on Thane
I liked Miranda personality wise. As a squadmate she was great on paper, terrible in practice (on Insanity). She spent more time dead than anyone else ever. Thane probably second only after Mordin. Jack is by far, the most annoying and prepubescent character design of anyone in either of the games. She's not only an awful in looks and attitude, but her ability set is just like Jacob's, except she has less health, no Barrier and a generally worse ammo. If they bring Jack back, she better have a huge overhaul. As a squadmate she sucked in every conceivable way.

Miranda got more then enough attention in
ME2. I have no desire, to put up with her accent all through the game a
second time, nor do I want to see her ass over-emphasized again.
Yvonne is awesome. Although you do have a point with the liberal backside that is overemphasized with clothing that literally acts like a second skin with no spaces..

So let me get this straight I can't have Wrex,Thane and Miranda as permanent squadmates in ME3? That's ridiculous. Who cares about Tali? Why is she so popular?
NOOOOOOOOO *Darth Vader voice
You dare to anger the Talimancers?
On topic, I hope there's more you can do, especially with your LI.

At this point, the vitriol and poison-spitting is about as painful as a light slap on the wrist.

We need peace! We must rally together to stop the REAPERS! But yeah, all the negativity on the forums is a big turnoff right now.
