Serving as filler so that the "planned" trilogy actually has three games in it, instead of just the first one and the one which ends the Reaper War.

For the record, Bioware said Cerberus will account for 40% of the game's enemies. If not for ME2, they would not be in that position, since ME2 introduced TIM, much of Cerberus' workings, a Cerberus color scheme and logo, etc. In ME1, I'm sure alot of people finished without even hearing a word about Cerberus. So I think their role makes ME2 a pretty big Goddamn deal.

Meh, the random evil Reaper army could've just appeared at the beginning of ME3, without any real explanation (same as now, really); all ME2 does now is making Bioware look bad by having choices they themselves implemented not mean a thing.

What was the point of ME2?

To make money, of course. What else would the point be?

Just becuase they're not in the squad doesn't mean they wont have a big part to play, we know Mordin and Wrex will for example.

Oh yeah they can't be in the squad but the 2 VS pricks and Liara can be in it right . yeah its stupid how Bioware wants to be so freaking one sided to ME 1 fans . but hey what do you expect when they have all but erased ME 2 from the franchise .

typical response from those who would rather butt kiss everything Bioware does. Mass Effect 2 was a side quest and most of us see through the bull sh*t . but thats ok there are ways to fix ME 3  from all being about the ME 1 squad and the pathetic pieces of crap VS .

Destroying the greybox may be a reason, I actually never tried that. I also never blew up the Geth. Maybe you should send in Tali then. Unless you told the Quarian council what her father really did, in that case send in who you like least Image IPB

Well I wouldn't buy ME3 if I was you. Because what I hear they are going to shet all over ME1 and ME2 and then laugh and point fingers at us. I for one will buy it because I like that.

Mild abuse. DA2 for example was a tad too much even for me.

Company X implements lots of "choices" in their game, markets them as something of importance and eventually they turn out to affect next to nothing. I wouldn't say that's something worth of praising.

I didn't even expect everything to matter, just the bigger and more important decisions. Turns out a ton of choices are done in a DA2 kind of way, with both decisions leading to the same result, the only difference being a line or two to explain why all roads indeed lead to Rome.

I don't butt-kiss everything BioWare does. For example, I think Dragon Age 2 was a huge let down.

Mass Effect 2 wasn't a side-quest. Mass Effect 2 gave us more insight on the ME universe. We learned more about the galaxy, the species that live in it and we got to see a lot of new placed. Mass Effect 2 gave us a complete image of the ME universe.

In ME1, we only explored Citadel Space. We only saw a tiny piece of the galaxy.

In ME3, we will be too busy fighing te reapers to go sight-seeing and learn more about the ME universe.

So, ME2 did just that. They gave us the chance to learn more about the ME universe.

Think about this:
- Would you give a flying f*ck about saving the Quarians is you never played ME2?
- Would you ever have considered that coöperating with the Geth might actually be a possibility if you never met Legion?
- Would you ever guess that Cerberus might become a big enemy without ME2? They weren't a big deal in ME1.

Next time, please think before you post.

Yeah good point. I wasn't in for the hype before the game came out so I don't know that.

ME1 introduced the Reapers.

ME2 explained their motives.

ME3 pits us against the Reapers in conflict.

We know from ME2 that the Reapers don't just exterminate all life for no reason - we know that they harvest certain species, with the end goal of creating a new Reaper. While we could've speculated that from ME1 there was zero evidence for this before ME2.

ME2 also set up many of the sub plots that will no doubt play into ME3 and the galactic war. I haven't read the leak, but I would imagine that the Quarian-Geth war and the Genophage will play large roles in ME3, things that were only codex entries in ME1.

ME2 also introduced several major factions. Legion's Geth (prior to ME2 it was assumed that all Geth sided with Saren), Cerberus (which we know plays a major role, and before ME2 was not a significant faction) and Omega (which, based off the Invasion comics, will have a significant role).

So, ME2 gave us:
-The primary antagonists' motives
-Plenty of important sub plots
-New and highly important factions

ME1 was all about establishing the ME universe and the threat of the Reapers.

ME2 was all about exploring and expanding on both that universe and the Reapers.

If you want an analogy, in ME1 we were introduced to the chess board; in ME2, we set up the pieces; and in ME3 we finally get to play.

I feel the same. If you look closely, ME3 will be the direct sequel to ME1, not ME2.

As for the Squad, ALL surviving members from both ME 1 and ME 2 will be part of Shepard's Team. True, not all will stay on the Normandy (a la Liara in ME 2), but that doesn't mean that they won't help.

Judging from the E3 demo, Legion will play a fairly important part in ME 3. Some devs even confirmed that the Quarian/Geth conflict would be resolved during ME 3. Now, what happens if you didn't activate Legion in an ME 2 port (and who wouldn't activate the lovable robot who absolutely refuses to say why he's "repaired a hole" with Shepard's Armor?), or got Legion killed?

Some choices that don't seem to have any meaning may truly alter your ME 3 experience.

And a minor request: Please stop with the DA 2 stuff. This isn't the forum for it, and I liked DA 2 for what it really was: A conversation about events that happened between 3 and 11 years previous. And between someone who needed to find somebody and a storyteller who frequently gets a bit carried away with himself.

Well, we don't know who the hidden character is yet, or if any other characters have been confirmed for companions. Let's remember that you will have, at best, only Liara, James, and Ashley/Kaiden if you killed off Tali/Garrus in the last game...

I would presume that there will be at least seven/eight squad-mates this time around, Mix from both games too...but thats me personally.

You know I only mentioned it once and wasn't going to make any further comments on it, why would I? So why are you asking me to stop when I already did? Sry if my opinion hurts yours, I'll tell it to be nice.
