The romances in ME are pretty much clumsily staged.
i don't have too great hopes that this will change in ME3.

Can someone please lock this thread? Its petty arguments, users sizing up one another, and overall hypocrisy is an eyesore.

I'm with you on that. For a few pages we managed to get it off-topic, but it appears that it has once again devolved into petty bickering and insults. Much as far too many threads around here seem to do.

How did Ashley and Kaidan fans beat Liara fans we had the superior plot Armor, plot importance and finally gods (the writer Mac Walters) favouritism. How can the even with the combined force of the VS match that.

Also where is Miranda Admiralcheese! She is the most romanced char in me2. Yes, more than Tali. You know why.

Hint:
Miranda was made for casual gamers.
Tali was made for basement nerds.

Guess which group me2 was made to appease and which group bought me2 most.

According to the game stats Miri was the most romanced. So why didn't she fight.

Agreed

*round one of the tournament*

*Garrus' hardcore fans against TIM's hardcore fans*
*Ashley's hardcore fans against Kaidan's hardcore fans*
*Tali's hardcore fans against Jack's hardcore fans*
*Liara's hardcore fans against Thane's hardcore fans*
Let the battle BEGIN!

The only even battle would have to be the VS one.

That's what makes it fun.

Also unrealistic. As far as I can see the VS fans are pretty much peaceful towards each other. Maybe because Kaidan and Ashley got sidelined in ME2, maybe because both will face same destiny in ME3. Who knows.

I think it's more ME1!LI fans vs ME2!LI fans.

Actually, it seems to be more Tali/Garrus/Liara fans vs. VS fans vs. ME2-exclusive characters fans. At least from what I've seen.

How about no battles at all and hope that everyone enjoys the game when it comes out?   Seriously, it's all about personal preference.  No need to argue.  Harmony and understanding, yes?

That is somewhat true. However, I have seen nobody going after Thane fans.

I thought the romance scene in played out okay. Not only was the build up pretty good ( at least when I romanced Ashley, I can't speak for Liara or Kaiden ) and it felt like good enough courtship with plenty of flirting but the ( sex ) scene itself felt very romantic and sensual ( I left guilty for watching, it seemed like a very private moment ) with becoming cheap or digital porn.

I can't say I'm happy with how the ME2 romances turned out. Some have better build ups than others but it doesn't really compare with how the romances in Me1 were handled. As for the deed itself, they are all cringe worthy. I'm not really sure what happened in ME2 but I'm hoping that in ME3 romances as well as the sex scenes themselves play out more like they don in ME1.

That's what happened.

Personally I don't have any issues with alien!LI fans. After all, we can have our own "headcanon" and therefore our own "canon" LI.

I don't wanna offend anyone with the following statement, but that's what I believe how BW guys see LI:

- "Canon LI"
Liara
Aka "the big deal" romance

- "Canon LI competitor"
Kaidan and Ashley
Aka "the big deal" romance

- Secondary LI
ME2!LI with exception of Team Dextro

- Team Dextro LI promoted to "Canon LI competitor" aka "the big deal" romance.

At least that's the status of any LI in ME2. However it looks as if BW staff changed their ideas about LI and promoted ANY available LI to "big deal", that means, no LI will be sidelined. However, as far as I can see, the VS!LI has to overcome some hurdles.

- Canon LI
Liara

If BioWare truly considers this the case, and are trying to portray the story this way, then they are failing indeed. Liara comes off to me as a stalker with a crush. An incredibly charming and likeable stalker, but a stalker nonetheless.

You need to check your definition of stalking.

Considering Garrus and Shepards whole relationship in ME2 was basically

Garrus: blah blah blah sparring blah blah blah Bedroom blah blah blah reach and flexibility
Shepard: Lets have sex
Garrus: K I'll go read about it
Shepard: You got a minute?
Garrus: Calibrations
***alol Omega 4 relay***
Garrus: K i brought wine lets have sex
Shepard: ur awkward
Garrus: :(
Shepard: Sex

I don't think Garrus is a cannon romance.

I know exactly what the word means, but thank you for the highly informative post.

I'm not saying she ever literally stalked Shepard. But she is characterised in such a manner that (if non-romanced) is reminiscent of an crushing, obsessed cartoon character. She hits nearly all the hallmarks. And before anyone gets their knickers all in a twist, does this make her a bad character? No. But it does make me lol that she has a piece of Shep's armour encased in glass.

They all have their facepalm moments. More in ME2 than ME1, IMO.

I now have a mental image of Liara talking to herself...

*Shepard walks by*
Liara: He/She will be mine...oh yes he/she will be mine!
Joker: Uh...cool?...
EDI: My sensors indicate she wants to tap that.

Yeah, it could have been a good serious look at a human-turian relationship but it ends up being nothing but a cheesy and crappy clownfest that's only fan service.
