elves and humans look fine to me, but Dwarfs have long arms compared to their size

If you stand up straight and aren't shaped like some disfigured midget, you'll notice that your arms does reach almost the full length down to your knees.
Seriously. Check for yourself some Anatomic-books/pictures/whatever.
No offense;)
And yes. The female Dwarfs look especially awkward.

Only models where hands reached knees where on the dwarfs as far as I could se. The rest reached down to about mid thigh or there about, and I just stood up and tested on myself how far I could reach by standing normally, and I ended up around midthigh.

When I'm looking at the picture in the online profile here on the social network, it strikes me as the elbow being nearly at waists length, while it should be a slight bit above your waist, around your lower rib(s). But they really are proportionately correct if you imagine the armor not being there. I believe most of the disproportionate feel comes from illusions of the eye due to the armor design.

Not sure about you mate, but with my 1.87 M lenght, when i stand up straight, back straightened and shoulders, the tip of my fingers pass the half way mark of my upper legs. that means only like a few cm, till the top of my knees.

Same here, my fingertips end roughly halfway up my thigh, no where near my knee.

What a coincidence.... me is 1,88m and my palms are right beside my thighs.
If your body is at least in the normal spectrum of biological geometry( fibonacci etc.)
your fingertips should be almost a handlength away from your kneespot.
This is all connected to the "golden ratio", which you can find everywhere in organic and nonorganic nature.
GR=1,618
so like in this case your leg-length should be 1,618 times your armlength.
Compositing your Torso with other factors you should get the min/max points combined with your joint-points.
