A possibly interesting experience...
Post 1:
So, I've never played any game from the DA series, I know nothing about
the story or the characters, but since DA2 was 50% off on the black
friday, I got the whole package, DAO Ultimate and DA2. The only thing I
know about those games is that some people don't like the "path" DA2
took. So I decided to make some kind of log of my experience with these
games while I wait for ME3. I believe I'll be unbiased since the few
gameplay videos and reviews I watched didn't say much about any of them.
Let's see how will I feel about these games... Will I get "connected"
to the characters? Will I get the same feeling some people seems to have
about DA2? Only time will tell. Tonight, I'm gonna play DAO for the
first time. Then I'll post my first entry on this log. I believe it'll
be interesting to see how my views and expectations might change allong
the way... Since probably all of you already played both games, I hope
you don't give me any spoilers. I'll try to make some guesses about the
story and the characters, and some of you might get crazy to say things
like: "Oh, I remember when I felt that..." or "He can't be more
wrong..." or even "How did he know that? He obviously read something and
spoiled himself".... But no, I wont read any guide or anything like
that. I'll make my decisions based only on what I think is right, not
because character x or y might live/die because I chose that... I'll try
to tell you about my decisions and while for me will be like be my own
lab rat, for you it will be like watching a movie where you see the
person making the wrong choice and you cant say anything.
I know
that many people say Bioware always makes the choices useless... No
matter what you choose, in the end the result will be almost the same...
People are saying that about ME3, and uses DA2 as a reference, but
that's ok for me. I'll just play these games to wait for ME3. Let's see
if I will be waiting for DA3 after I play them, or if I will just regret
having paid about $50 for them.
Post 2:
Well, I've been so busy that only a few minutes ago I could have 30
minutes of gameplay. Started with DAO (had the choice of DA Awakening,
but I suppose it's some kind of expansion pack to DAO). First thing I
noticed: OUTSTANDING soundtrack, but I hope it's not just in the
begining of the game. Created a humam male warrior for the first
walkthrough. The intro video had a very Lord of the Rings feeling (which
I like), with the orchestral song and the voice narrating the story...
if it were narrated by Christopher Lee the game would become epic even
before the start.
Good voice work. Bioware is really good at
this. And I liked the fact that the options of conversation are not
writen in red or blue indicating which one you should pick, if you know
what I mean.
As for the gameplay, I just walked a little and
talked to one of the guards. Looks like old school RPG mixed with some
RTS. My favourite rpgs are Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VII. Let's
see how it compares...
Since this is a "NO Spoilers allowed" thread I
will not say too much of what I do... but there is one character that I
already don't trust... His behaviour seemed suspicious, and it got even
more suspicious when the "unexpected visitor" walked in...
I
might move this thread to an outside blog so I will be able to talk more
freely, without concerns of being banned for spoiling (I hope that
little "suspicious" thing I said doesn't get "tagged" as spoiler). Ok,
have to go now. Gonna
