Now now, lets not tell him what to do. I went to Redcliffe first and found out the big surprise...so lets let him decide!

What those annoying parts are, you'll find out as you play.

I agree in not giving plot-related advice. I see no pressing reason from a RP perspective to go to the Circle before having been to Redcliffe.

And I didn't find that "annoying" part annoying at all. There are other and longer (and Deeper) parts (you know which I mean) which I found far more annoying. And there's no mod (afaik) to skip these...

Besides, being in Redcliffe before going to the Circle made me make a decision that showed quite covincingly how decisions have repercussions later on in DA:O. (mine triggered an... impressive reaction from Alistair later on...)

Do whatever your character thinks is logical.

This is hard to describe without spoilers. But I think you get it.

well, it is closer to the Lothering area.

But it is true that I should let the player make their own choices.

I liked the other one. Granted, it wasn't as good as I wanted, but I always enjoy going there.

At least until I'm done with the place. Then I've got no reason to go back, which kinda makes me sad.

The Circle is closer to Lothering, and you also learn there´s serious trouble from the templar there. So that´s my RP reason, unless I´m playing as an elf. Then I go to Denerim (CE only) and Brecilian forest first.

My RP reason was that we are five people and a dog against an unknown number of enemies and the first thing we could use was some (probably simple to get) support from Al's uncle before taking on templars and mages.

Anyway, I stand with not trying to influence decisions here...

Always ask yourself: What would Diego Cousland do?

Ok, I went to Redcliffe, because I thought I could get an army to help, but then I had to fight and army of undead. I released the mage and he told the that he could save the boy with the cost of someones life, so I deciced to spare his mothers life and went to Circle Tower to get the mages help... now I'm at Wonderland. :D

I suggested Broken Circle for the useful companion there.

Too bad you didn't decide to kill Connor. I only went that route with my "evil" character and that was the first and only time that I did that path, not involving the circle (my warden killed Jowan in his cell). Isolde begging the Warden not to kill Connor got to me...

First time, I managed to kill Isolde in the process, and earned a hefty ribbing from Alistair back in camp after the deed. That was quite... impressive.

That's also when I told him to buzz off and he left the camp. I was happy.

My time in the fade was really interesting... I liked the transformations into rat, spirit, burning man... but the quest for the Ashes of Andraste was extremely boring, but the "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" quotes were too funny. I could not resist to answer "A coconut" to one of the spirits... From there I went to the brecilian forest to hunt werewolves?!? If there is a vampire somewhere in the game, I'll cry blood tears (I hate Twilight)... Walking/talking trees... Ok, someones been watching/reading too much Lord of the Rings... for a moment I thought I would eventually bump into Merry and Pippin... Anyway, got the elves at my side now... Next step, the dwarves...

Aw, come on, those...things in Twilight aren't vampires. They're *fairies*.

Also, now you're making me wish Merry and Pippin had some sort of analogues in the Dragon Age series. I guess...Alistair has the same sort of sense of humor as them, maybe. If you squint. But he's not quite as short. (Pippin's my favorite LOTR character. I can't help but appreciate the nod to them.)

Good luck with the dwarves, BTW! I think I enjoyed that part of the game the most, overall. I'm looking forward to seeing how you react to everything--I didn't get to go into either game completely spoiler-free, so I have to live vicariously through people like this.

Cool, tell us the name of the person you're suspicious of!

Arl Howe! I might be wrong, but something tells me he should  not be trusted.

Back to the game. :D

Lol, i trusted him completely when i first played the game. I'm far too trusting.

I knew he was going to betray me but the one thing that I didn't count on was it being of his own volition. When Arl Howe said "I.... thank you. That is.... quite unnecessary" after I wished him luck, I began to think someone was blackmailing him into betraying the Couslands. So that's how I roleplayed my first Cousland.

I later found out he was just a power-hungry bastard.

Damaeus Cousland was really pissed off by that revelation.

Now I have the dwarves by my side. Had to kill the female paragon (dont remember her name right now) and released the golem by destroying the Anvil... My choice for the new king was the son of the king, which I also don't remember the name. But when he send the other one to death, I kinda regret it... Anyway, now it's done... I think my next step now will be try to kill Flemeth... I know she turns into a dragon, went there before and died... So I decided to level up a little before I go there again... I still don't know if Aedan is strong enough, but I might give it a shot.

Wow, you ARE fast! I remember it took me AGES to get through the Orzammar chapter... do you generally do all side quests?

(I remember on my last playthrough I took the perfectionist route and wanted to finish each and every single sidequest... I succeeded except the VERY LAST which I couldn't finish due to story events!! (would be spoilers to explain))

Well I try to the most sidequests as I can... Sometimes one or two might get left behind...
Ps.: Flemeth is dead! Piece of cake!

That's perfectly all right in my book, especially in the first playthrough. You need to save something for the next ones... ;)

 Are you sure your difficulty setting is enough of a challenge?

I'm playing on easy to be honest. Even though some parts are not so easy... While I was searching for the dwarf paragon, when I had to fight hordes of darkspawn, I always had to make sure to protect my mage (Wynne in my case), cause I set her strategy to be a healer. When I get distracted and the enemy kills her, things become way harder... I'm playing on easy cause I been playing on a rush, very busy lately, can't afford to lose hours in one battle... And Flemeth killed me twice before I could kill her... The "piece of cake" was just to "sound" cocky! :D Had to use the space bar to pause the action several times, and keep Wynne far away from Flemeth... took Alistair and Shale with me, both using their most powerfull melee atacks... Eventually, the dragon died. Lots of health potions where used too. I wonder how it would be to play on nightmare... I guess the name might give a hint....

Some sidequests and some actual plot quests feels like just excuses to make the game last longer... Like, "oh, let's put 15 darkspawn here, then when the user kills them, giant spiders will appear, after that we could put more 25 darkspawn, some of them appearing behind the user character, and then some golem... and let's repeat the corridors at least 10 times, every time with more enemies... " I don't like this kind of "stretching".
But the game is giving me some fun times...
And for the freezing when I got Leliana, it happened again when I met Oghren. But I managed to find a workaround. Just take someone off your party before talking to them... The game will proceed with no problems...

Wow! You have been busy since I last looked. I'm glad your enjoying the game. Do you think you'll play through with a different PC? Things 'look' different when you play various races. Just IMO!

^ I agree! All the Origins are enjoyable to even just play through for the first two/three hours. But then its the little things later on, little reminders of your origin story in people's reactions or in the random NPC who you now recognize from somewhere else that make it all the worthwhile.

8 playthroughs for DAO. Enjoyed all of them immensely.
