and eastern countries (Japan, China etc) tend to have a 50/50 split on whether they play good and bad.
and theory behind it why it is, its because of our cultures, which in western people tend to make heroes out of good guys and make them out to be the definitely best choice like in films, everyday life etc, whereas eastern communities tend not to have good/bad more shades of grey in there cultures so they are more open to different ways of doing things aka good or bad.

This thread sounds like a purposefully discriminating fission of the fanbase. Why is it not locked?
Why should it be locked for adhering to Bioware's game design philosophies?

Pretty much. Silly Paragon and Renegades thinking they're cool becase of virtual choices. Once you start playing video games your coolness is automatically forfeit. Everyone knows this.Random Nobody wrote...

I never called you a troll.
I'm just implying that the OP is giving some people way too much credit than they're actually worth.

What philosophies? All I see is people pretending like there are acutally only two type of BioWare Fans....and resulting in bickering.

Allow me to reiterate: people who consider themselves "badass" IRL because they make "tough choices" in vidya games.
Gotta love this post.
Plus what actual cool/badass person actually call themself cool/badass?

I remember a time, when I first played Mass Effect sometime in 2008, and because I was like 15 and my only RPG experience were Baldur's Gate and KOTOR, I expected to be 100% Paragon when I started the game.
Which I was up to the moment, when the paragon choice in Jahleed and Chorban's quest was, I think, to stop scanning the keepers for them. And I, even back then having the "researching the unknown is good" attitude (though less refined then I have today), have suddenly asked myself a question: "Why should this particular (Paragon) choice be the correct one?"
*snap*
And suddenly I found out, that I couldn't justify almost any of the choices I previously made.
That one choice in the first Mass Effect managed to turn me from a blind idealist to a pragmatical cynic in a matter of several minutes.
Oh yes, those were good times.

A bit off topic, but I'm relatively sure that scanning the keepers doesn't give you renegade points.

Idk... I tend to think people who play video games are cool people. It's the people who don't that aren't cool!
So, you're all cool! I just don't agree with a lot of you.
