Rank ALL of the Mass Effect Squad? (Spoilers most likely)

2 Garrus
3 Mordin
4 Grunt
5 Ashley
6 Legion
7 Tali
8 Miranda
9 Jacob
10 Zaeed
11 Liara
12 Thane
13 Wrex
14 Kasumi
15 Morinth
16 Kaidan
17 Samara
These are ranked as how well written thay are rather than just whether I liked them. For instance I don't like Ashley that much but think she was very well written and elicited a strong response at the time. In general I thought the character writing was quite a bit better in ME2 than ME1. Based on ME1 writing only, Tali and Garrus would be right down the bottom but ME2 added a lot to their back stories and character.

For sh*ts and giggles, I'm going to NOT do this based on my favorites, but on how much emotional investment I have in each character. Oddly, the lists aren't the same, and they don't mesh with who I think's best in combat, either. Weird, huh?
17. Morinth - cool character, but not enough was delivered to make a fair call. She'll probably rank up once I do a full playthrough with her.
16. Zaeed - badass and hilarious, but too static and one-dimensional. I like him, but I don't care about him.
15. Jacob - the poor bastard never evolved at all, and because of that, I didn't care. I like him and he doesn't deserve his bum rap, and I really want him to do something badass in ME3 and grow a little, but he's let me down so far.
14. Kaidan - sweet guy, look forward to seeing him again, but I'm having a hard time seeing how ME3 will help him grow.
13. Grunt - feels like an honorary son, but I don't think he'll grow much in ME3. He's found his purpose, and I enjoyed helping him grow up, but really, he just needs to show up for five minutes, do something badass, and I'm good.
12. Kasumi - one of my favorite squaddies, and I do care about her, but I care about the others more.
11. Thane - okay, this guy rocks, and I'm eager to see how his story arc is concluded, but there are other squadmates I care more about. However, I do sort of want to see him make it to the end credits. Just to ****** people off and prove that his terminal illness isn't the source of his badassery.
10. Miranda - I really want to see her grow into a stronger, more confident, more independent person on her own, outside of Cerberus.
9. Liara - I wound up liking her more than I thought I would, but she's not a major investment. Her high-ish ranking is a result of her just being such a good bro.
8. Samara - her personal arc really resonated with me, and somehow I can't shake the feeling that her story isn't quite finished.
7. Legion - I love this bot, and what he represents is important in the story. We need more of this guy. We need to see him, and the geth, evolve.
6. Wrex - favorite squadmate, but he doesn't need to experience phenomenal growth or anything at this point. Total bro, however, and I really want him to be successful.
5. Mordin - he's god damned amazing, and I really could feel him struggling in ME2. I care about him finding true closure with the genophage, and I want him to be a vital part in resolving that plotline in ME3.
4. Ashley - it took me forever, but she's one of my favorites now. I want to see a decent character arc for her, and I want to see her finally come into her own.
3. Jack - she has the most growing to do, and I really, really want to see the person she becomes when she finally learns to stand on her own and contribute to something greater than herself.
2. Tali - she has it in her to be a very powerful, confident individual, and I'm still waiting for the moment where she finally does things on her own terms and ditches her crippling self-doubt that held her back in ME2.
1. Garrus - I think it's safe to say that how his character arc is concluded will make or break ME3 for me. That's how much I care about this bastard.

I hope you're not right on this one, I think Grunt has the potential to be very interesting. Okeer was imprinting lots of stuff while Grunt was in the tank. Everyone seems to assume the imprint failed but he could speak, fight, knew history etc so the imprint clearly worked to some degree. Now Okeer really didn't strike me as someone to needlessly throw away his life so I believe there is some sort of subconscious/subliminal imprint in Grunts mind waiting to be triggered.AdmiralCheez wrote...

16. Jack Don't like her attitude and the excessive swearing just bugs me.
15. Morinth Zzzzz
14. Samara *yawns*
13. Garrus, used to be somewhat cool in ME1, he turned into incredibly boring character in ME2. And also he'll have to go along with #17 & #16, out tha airlock.
12. Zaeed, annoying guy with a lot of issues. I leave him behind or kill him off.
11. Grunt, bit mehish character for me. Fun at times, but really simple most of the time.
10. Wrex same as Grunt, just with extra ''bro hugs''.
9. Liara - she's ''alright'', but nothing to write home about.
8. Jacob, bit of simpleton still ''nice'' to have around sometimes.
7. Mordin, he's funny and all, but still don't use him, since he's not as good as the rest when it comes to fighting.
6. Ashley, she's my second favorite LI, but since I prefer Kaidan for bromance and got LI spot taken already, she gets left behind.
5. Thane, cool character that I like to keep around. Not too fond of the species though.
4. Kasumi, she's awesum. Love her!
3. Legion, every Shepard needs a Legion. There's just something so great about him.
2. Kaidan, sadly didn't get to see too much of him in ME2, but he's still my second favorite character. Shepard ultimate ''brah''
1. Miranda, the character that got me into ME universe and the most important part of ME for me still.

Of course, silly me. No one's fingers are in peak condition in order to achieve such a feat. Sad really considering the amount of finger exercise one gets from playing video games.Someone With Mass wrote...

I'm not going to rank the new team members we're getting in ME3 simply because I don't know enough about them, but I will say that I like Jimmy so far, and the other two could be either completely awesome or the dumbest things to happen to the franchise ever depending on the execution.
I believe the concept for the above two characters naturally lean towards the latter rather than the former. I know my hype for the game (and expectations regarding the story) came to a screeching halt when I discovered who the "new" ME3 characters are likely to be.
They are just so...rediculous. Like, 10 AM cartoon plot rediculous. Actually, the mere thought of them potentially being in ME3 makes me question the sanity of the Mass Effect dev team. I already knew Weekes was crazy, but I never expected the whole studio was like that.

I too thought that they were rather silly at first, but they actually have at least some redeeming qualities.
One of them tells you stories that I at first thought was going to be what defined that character, like Zaeed's stories, but they threw in something that caught my attention and they not only made me sympathize with this character, I even started to respect that character to the point where I'm going to at least dedicate one playthrough to bringing that character around with me as much as I can.
Same with the other one, because I'm curious to see how both of them will develop throughout the game.
Yeah, sure, the writers could've gone with something less...radical, but I'll give them a chance, and if that turns out to not go the way I thought it would, then I'll just let them be and move on. Not saying that they're going to be the best characters ever, but stranger things have happened and I'm rather optimistic at this point.

Actually, after reading a bit more about the backstory on one of the characters I'm feeling a bit more hopeful about their inclusion in ME3. You'll have to pardon my ignorance on the subject however, as I am trying to avoid most of the major spoilers. Kinda.
But the other character? God no. Nothing will help me get over such an out of place squadmate.
I think I know what you mean.
And yes, I can definitively see the silliness behind that other character. Though, I hope that they can improve the introduction, since it seems to come out of nowhere and seems to be quite the leap.

2. Garrus - Partner in crime n' boyz 4 life.
3. Wrex - One man army with an army of Krogan at his beck and call.
4. Mordin - He knows everything, about everything.
5. Legion - His name alone sounds badass. And M-98 Widow.
6. Kasumi - She also knows everything and then steals them just for sport.
7. Zaeed - Only a badass would name his rifle Jessie. And a bullet in the head just cheesed him off. He's the Ozzy Osbourne of badassery. There's nothing he hasn't done before.
8. Miranda - It's Yvonne Strahovski in a catsuit.
9. Liara - Good girl. A little too good maybe. Then LOTSB came out and now she's on the top 10.
10. Tali - Cute little girl with a cute attitude. Cute, but why would she be on a team of galaxy saviors?
11. Jack - Powerful but crazy. Of everyone on the team she gives the least amount of crap about the galaxy, or anything for that matter. And she could at least be more creative with her swearing.
12. Thane - Cool, but emo. Killing is his business and he needs to stop moping when business is good.
13. Grunt - He'd rank higher if there's a cutscene of him headbutting a rocket or a bullet. Zaeed owns him on badassery. Other than that's he's just a meatshield, even though he's a very useful one.
14. Samara - Something about devoting her life to killing her daughter and being so damn calm about it creeps me out. "Thank you for helping me kill my daughter. Wanna go to lunch?"
15. Morinth - Not a fan of sexual predators. Even hot ones. Why would anyone think it's a good idea to keep one on their ship anyway?
16. Jacob - Just not interesting enough. He's always such a glorified extra. And even with all those muscles, he's a complete tool in combat.
18. Vega - Officially, he's
19. Kaidan - I didn't get to know him beyond his boy scout attitude. For some reason he died about 738 bazillion times on Virmire. Unlucky for him.
