Surprised that many of you named April Ryan of the Longest Journey as your fave. Never played that or Dreamfall unfortunately, but it's heartening to see women on the lists of fave protagonists for some people. Lord knows the game industry needs more of 'em (which is why I put Femshep on my opening post rather than Dudeshep. I like 'em both equally, but Femshep deserved a spot at least). And I don't mean those hyper sexualized fembots like what Lara Croft devolved into (which is why I enjoyed Tomb Raider: Legend. Lara felt more like a person there rather than a sex puppet in other games).

I would have gladly named Elika one of my fave protagonists. But sadly, the Prince was the main character, but Elika was a large reason why I loved that game.

Easily the best Warden I've ever made - took on the entire Fifth Blight by himself with nothing but his wits and trusty blades. He and his brother brought Orzammar into a new age and turned it into a superpower, breaking down the ye olde caste system, and sending the darkspawn running in fear of a newly bolstered dwarven army, golems, and surface military support.

He's the greatest Warden Ferelden (and Orzammar) could have hoped for.

Well, technically I like the ones I create myself the best.So.. Shepard, the Warden, Hawke etc. You get the picture, but those are so different for everyone it's cheating I think. 
I'm also not really big on the protagonists you have no sway over, that are set in stone. I also don't really play many games with clearly defined main character protagonists that you can't change.. But I'll give it a shot..


- Malfurion Stormrage (Warcraft universe) 
- Master Chief (Halo universe)
- Kerrigan (Starcraft universe - Not a protagonist you say? For my Zerg-biased heart it is!) 

I guess that's about it I can think of. I don't like most defined protagonists..
