Hi,
I recently started a two handed warrior build and was playing when I noticed that in combat it would take forever for a target to be affected from a hit and the same with healing on a character. This is really strange because in all my other files, this has never happened and enimies take damage right away with no lag and healing is instentious. Is it because of being a two handed warrior? I run graphics on high and it's usualy smooth sometimes a little clunky and slow loads but nothing game breaking. Unfortunatly I'm not great with computers so I can't give direct statistics but I have Windows Home 7 (laptop) with x86 system (thats what it says next to program files) so if anyone could give me advice about if it's my computer or something else, I'd really appreciate it because this makes combat almost un-win/playable. Thanks!

By the sound of it the problem with lie with whatever graphics solution your Laptop has. Unfortunately without information about your Laptops specs can't say much more than a guess. You can find a list of those by going into the Dragon Age configuration and clicking on "Summery" we will especially need to know about your CPU and Display Adapter

I believe we had to caution the author last spring, when DA2 was brand new, about a borderline hardware situation, already.

P. S.  The "Configuration Tool" is on the Launcher's Menu, not the game's.

Oh I'm sorry, I thought since it was related to a different issue (about the lag instead of the quality of graphics) that it might be a different problem and solution then my current one. I did not know that this problem might happen because of graphics too and if I had, I would not have re-posted what I know now is essentially the same problem. Sorry about that. The thing is that in between now and that time, I got a new laptop on which high graphics can run mostly without a problem and this whole issue was new to me for something that had been working fine. Moondoggie sorry for what is most likely a dumb question, but when you say configuration do you mean the notepad file called DAOriginsConfig because when I clicked on it, all it said was this: "WindowPosition=455,186,1145,714" and I'm not sure if that's what you need or not. Thanks very much.

No i don't mean the notepad file. when you open the Dragon Age game you get options like "play" etc. One of them is "configuration"

And with GPU's what you are looking at is the "framerate" which means how smoothly the game runs over how pretty the graphics look. You will get lagging of actions and choppy movement if your GPU isn't good enough.

Hmm very sorry for yet another dumb question, but I still can't find configuration. I open the game and I have the choices resume, new game, load game, other campaigns, downloadable content, player profile, options, credits and quit. I clicked on options assuming it would be the best of my choices to find it, but all I see is game, controls, audio, video and online. Do you mean one of those? Sorry to keep bothering you about this when the answer is most likely very simple.

Is there no way to replace this besides using a different computer? I'm guessing not because that seems to be integrated into the computer itself.

Intel has never taken gaming seriously. Only AMD and nVIDIA can be trusted to work with all games. We covered some of this same kind of low quality problem when you had trouble last spring, with a previous laptop, and our intention then was to have you be well informed enough to avoid the same situation all over again (and the System Requirements are there for similar reasons).

Modern NetTops, NetBooks, Notebooks, Tablets, and Notebooks are built to be disposable after short usability periods compared to more economical desktop systems. They are permanently welded shut in production. The place that a graphics card would have been, had there been one, does not exist after assembly.

Combat lag is actually a known problem of the DA engine. It can occur while one has good FPS and it might not occur while on low FPS.

From my experience, it usually occurs when in combat with a large number of NPCs, and especially both hostile and friendly NPCs. To me that sounds like a CPU related bottleneck.

As for your laptop, your money is better spent saving for a new one in the future, it is quite difficult to replace laptop parts.

For now, I advise turning graphics setting lower, and making sure that DA is the only application you run, preferably after a clean reboot and while your laptop is connected to a power source - running on battery might cause slowdowns as well.

Ah, that's a shame. It's ok though because it's mainly for work anyway with a few good games. Luckily, this does not happen every time so I can live with it. Thanks a lot for your help. Oh and StoneTheCrow thanks for the tips!
