I don't believe Liara suffered any contrivances to keep her in. She's one of only three squadmates (admittedly including DLC) to be on the team for both earlier games, and I can't imagine she'd really want to not stay close to Shepard to ensure that she doesn't die this time. In any case, the location of the Hagalaz base was compromised by Cerberus, so she'd have to leave anyway when Cerberus turned on the galaxy. Not only that, she'd probably need to stay mobile because people would likely be after her head. When you factor in the Normandy's excellent (AI) computer system, there's no reason for her to not be on the Normandy.

Yes it is. Liars's entire presence after Mass Effect is contrived. The SB story arc was only created to throw her back into the spotlight. Otherwise she would have ceased being relevant after she said Illos. First and last reply to this topic.

I agree that her being a ME3 permanent squadmate makes sense. Just like Tali and Garrus, she's been sticking by Shepard since the beginning, and it would be silly for her not to be there at the end too.

When did Liara say "Illos"?

Did she say it while having a machine behind her?

Every ME2 character's presence is contrived. They were created for the sole purpose of having expendable squad mates accompany you on the suicide mission. Also this entire story was contrived for the purpose of making money.

This really isn't an argument for anything. This is what we have. Discussing reasons for its existence is pointless.

or... Not.

No, the Shadow Broker arc was created in order to funnel money from player's pockets into EA/Bioware's coffers.

Well, yes, story arcs are generally created to give characters more story. Did you figure that out all by yourself?

Contrived or not, I wish I got the chance to not let her on my ship.

I imagine your Shepard will eventually be glad that he didn't do that.

Well then you're just going to have to hope and pray you can find a way to penetrate her thick plot armour plating.

I thought having her on board and insulting and name calling her would be satisfying enough.

Nah, just an argument on the wrong board. She did the sensible thing by not derailing that thread further. This could've gone in the Liara thread though.

The Shadow Broker arc was created so my Liaramancing Sheps could have an opportunity to embrace eternity in ME2.

Thank you BioWare. ^_^

In the Liara thread there would be no discussion. Everyone would just instantly agree.

Yes, yes it is. Very much so.
She has become an important player on the Galactic Stage to the point where she has a private army. She could replace TIM and the Council as a quest giver. She even has her own bloody ship.
Putting her back on the Normandy and on Shepard's squad is as ridiculous as expecting to encounter The Illusive Man on the frontlines.

So that you can have Miranda as XO of Shepard.....very nice but that was not what were you thinking...obviously it is just for the sake of the plot....<_<

This frankly.

She should be somewhere like the Sanctuary getting intel and rallying forces together not tagging around with Shep as s/he goes into Reaper pits and crap.
