Which 'certain options'?  They already have options in some places.

I'm sure everyone around here can give an example of a time in ME1 or ME2 where there wasn't an option presented that matched what they wanted their Shepard to do.  I can give plenty, but I don't worry too much about it b/c BW doesn't create these options with my Shepard always in mind.

"Hmmm...what would jlb524's Shepard do?"

They can give more options but there will always be a limit and there will always be cases where there's a 'good' choice missing for your particular Shepard.

Certain options simply being more.

And sure that doesn't mean no one can ask for more options. Otherwise half the threads on this forum should disappear.

That's true. That does not mean however I can't ask BW to provide me for a good choice for my Shepard. Whether it's suggesting a certain character to leave, interacting with them a certain way or killing them off to avoid the issue. I don't even have a "Meh this'll do." choice let alone a good one.

I have one (or more) of those options with every single other squaddie. I would like one with Liara too. That's all.

I'm asking (not demanding) more options so I can have a better game. That's it. Most people on this forum do the exact same thing just with different subjects.

You're actively responding to this thread for at least 24 hours, which make me think it's not "just asking" but a bit more. I understand it's a discussion, but I've never seen such determined person before such as you when there's talking  about game features. You just won't let it go, until everyone on BSN will garee with your opinion.

Wait...frequent responses means I'm making demands now? You know I could just be passionate about it. That doesn't make it demand and won't let it go until everyone on BSN will agree with my opinion? Uh...nope. I'm not that bored or crazy. You don't have to agree with me and I don't expect everyone too.

FYI : If I was making demands it'd make far more sense for me to tweet the devs directly about this.

I'm just bored because I have nothing to do this week. Most likely I really will just ignore her during the game. Everytime she and Shep pull the buddy routine will irk me though.

I hated that because my Shep's "how could you" was met with a "how was I supposed to let my friend die?!?" and then shep looks chastized as if that's the greatest arguement ever and he was in the wrong. >.< And it was less of a how could you and more of a "You gave me to Cerberus? Why?" he doesn't even sound mad.

But you can hold what Liara did with Shepard's body against her (which is stupid, imo), even if you don't like the exact wording.

I can't reassure her or express how thankful my Shepard is that Liara saved her life.  I really don't know how that is a forced friendship.

You can't? I could've sworn you could say you were grateful to her. Maybe I missed something.

Only in LOTSB, I think (the cabin scene)

So you *do* get your option it's just not in the base game (which sucks) but I'd be willing to pay for DLC if it gave me the option to choose what squaddies I had on the Normandy.

You can in her office only if you do LOTSB without having Liara ask about you and Cerberus. But only in that situation and setup.

That's fine then.

What does that have to do with Liara's presence being contrived or is this a separate tangent?

No one has to agree and no one has to "ask" for it, Marc Walters already said that Shepards can have only professional relationships in ME3 or friendships, it's our choice.
So I'm here for the LuLz. And I'm here to demand turrets for Engineers. =]

Absolutely nothing. Seperate tangent. :P

Though yeah I see it as somewhat contrived. But most of the characters backstories (most especially Shep's) are contrived so I don't see it as that much of an issue.

Edit: I thought Engineers already had turrents?

Yes, though Cerberus has different types of turrets.

I don't care if it's contrived. She was only a side character in Mass Effect 2 and it's nice to have her back in the team.

I don't believe Liara suffered any contrivances to keep her in. She's one of only three squadmates (admittedly including DLC) to be on the team for both earlier games, and I can't imagine she'd really want to not stay close to Shepard to ensure that she doesn't die this time. In any case, the location of the Hagalaz base was compromised by Cerberus, so she'd have to leave anyway when Cerberus turned on the galaxy. Not only that, she'd probably need to stay mobile because people would likely be after her head. When you factor in the Normandy's excellent (AI) computer system, there's no reason for her to not be on the Normandy.

So says the person with the Liara avatar. lol stupid fanboys

I think going from unsocial archaeologist to skilled information broker was a bit contrived and really differed from her original goals in ME1. Hopefully, they'll do a good job at showing and explaining why she's out fighting and not collecting information in ME3.

It was 2 years since Shepard died, people can change ALOT in 2 years. Hell, I changed a lot in 2 years.

Uh nope. Shep would've been dead.

All Liara had to do was completely destroy the corpse.

And you would not have ME2 nor ME3. Liara retrieving the corpse and giving it to Cerberus is canon deal with it

Uh yeah so what?

that doesn't affect the fact that my Shep would've preferred Liara destroy his body instead of handing it over to **** scientists. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/pouty.png[/smilie]

Edit: Apparently N.A.Z.I. is starred out. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/andy.png[/smilie]

You know.. If you didn't want Shep to be rezzed so badly, you have the option of just playing through the ME2 intro up until Shep gets spaced, then just shut off the game, and be like "whelp" thats the end of it.

You can just say that Liara didn't save your corpse; Shep gets spaced, and thats the end of your adventure.

That's not my issue Eclipse. It's the fact that my Shep can't discuss it with Liara. (and said one line ends up being a short throwaway line that makes Shep look like he's in the wrong instead of having 2 adults disagree with one another).

Believe me if I was bothered enough by the Lazarus project to not play the game it wouldn't be simply because of cerberus.

Gonna have a hard time having a conversation if you're dead. :/
Unless Liara has a Ouija board I don't know about.

So your Sheps only real option is to deal with it, or continue to be bitter about it. It's your Shep, and you can do whatever you want, but being angry, and bitter about this for so long just seems really tiresome, and pointless.

Honestly if I had to work with someone whiney like that for an extended period of time, on a mission as critical, and important like this. I'd be very tempted to punch him/her in the face... Or shoot him/her in the back(when no ones looking of course).

Especially when there's more important things to deal with.

Considering my Shep came back from the SM alive I don't see how that'll be difficult.

So not liking someone's actions is whiney now? People really do love to throw that word around for the most asinine things. Though I do wish Liara would try to punch my Shep in the face. Maybe then he'd stop treating her like she's his friend and if Liara was spineless enough to attack Shep in the back oh yes. Seeing her get the crap beat out of her (because Shep's plot shield is at least 3 miles thick) will be glorious.

Just really? You're that petty over Shep not wanting to kiss Liara's boots that you'll make her wildly OOC to "punish" Shep for daring not to kiss her boots? :pinched:

Liara's plot shield is thicker than Shep's. If Shep isn't a biotic, this would be a curbstomp in Liara's favor.:pinched:

Nah Shep has the thickest plotshield in ME. His is far more impressive than Liara because it actually holds up under fire without taking a single scratch. Plus Shep has meatshields even if she did manage to injure him (and it would be injure rather than kill) his squaddies would turn on her and force her to flee. And supposedly if Liara does kill Shepard she'll kill herself anyways because the Reapers will reap her. So Shep still gets the last laugh. Remember Shep does take out Benezia with a squad of commandos with just 2 other people with him. And those 2 people do not have to be Liara and can be on his squad in ME3. :D

Though a Shep and Liara fight would be awesome to see.
BW protagonists always have the thickest plotshield. Just the way the game is written I'm afraid. :P

And if anyone takes the above seriously you're a moron. Liara attacking Shepard for daring to dislike her would be so ridculously OOC it's not even funny.
