I seriously doubt this after Marc Walter's statements about how they shot themselves in the foot with the design of the Suicide Mission.

Lul. People don't hang around here for your sympathies, for mine, maybe. Being nice to all characters is incredibly boring way to go, nobody likes everyone. If they couldn't please everyone by having the characters that each player would like to see in the game in a role that would please everyone, then they should've just made whole new characters and reduced all old characters into tiny cameos.

Or like they're doing now. Bring back the really old squad and give the slightly older one cameos.

Such things happens when you're introducing ten new characters. Half of which weren't even needed.

Yeah, she did say Hackett gave them to her. But they were on her desk the whole time at the beginning of lotsb. When Shep gives Liara the SB intel, she leaves while grabbing them to take with her. Not even mentioning them to Shep. That seems odd to me.

Also odd that Hackett would actually give them to Liara. That makes no sense. Anderson would be the appropriate choice. (unless it's some kind of canon LI glitch...maybe)

But wait..wait....how would Hackett have gotten the tags? Wasn't Shep wearing them we s/he went down? And at that time the Alliance didn't go after Shepard's body.....cuz....of something I forgot.  And sense there was a Normandy Crash Site quest and collection of dog tags, the Alliance didn't go search and retrieve later either.

So, what could that mean? Either Liara's not telling the truth, but why would she lie about that..now? She just could've said yeah, I took your dog tags when I transporting your corpse around.

Or Hackett got the tags from SB, or Cerberus.  Implications potentially unpleasant.

Wait so she did say that? Oh for the love of...

And yeah that's messed up. It's crap like that which makes my Shep want to stay far the hell away from her. That and her having his busted armor in a case.

I doubt it.

And yeah it's just a giant "...wat?" It's confusing.

And...Hackett being a deep cover Cerberus operative? :crying: NOOOOO not Hackett!

You really believe that? LOL.

The contrivance happened when (1) she was changed away from her ME1 character, and (2) when a reason was found to put her on the team instead of leeting her continue her work as the SB which would leave her offscreen most of the time. Meanwhile, Miranda's plot connection to Cerberus is being completely ignored to keep her out of the team. Sorry. Double contrivance spotted.

Edit:
I like Liara's ME2 incarnation more than her ME1 version. That doesn't change the fact that the "development" was totally unconvincing.

Contrived storytelling.

Fiction=contrived storytelling.

True but there are ways of making that storytelling convicing, logical ways for the story to play out and for the characters to develop.
And then there is Liara T'soni's journey.

Just because you don't like Liara's character development doesn't mean her story arc is not convincing or logical.

While I agree that there was no need for such a big squad in ME2 (8 should've been fine in my opinion), the real problem is the SM. If there weren't random casualties, I think they would've chosen to form a mixed squad.

Shepard could be traumatized. He wasn't an adult if I remember well. Btw, there are racist even among the other species (the Asari on Illium in Shiala's mission among others). I don't understan why someone couldn't create a racist Shepard.

Just because there are other racists doesn't make it any more right to be one yourself, though.

And if you're one, you simply have to deal with the consequences. Other races exists, just like there are other races on Earth.

Yeah, because nobody from ME2 who could have died in the SM is coming back...

That is very true. My feelings towards it have nothing to do with why Liara's character development is not covincing or logical.

How about no.

Cute. And yes we're right back at the "you're way of playing is not like mine so it shouldn't be supported."

I'm just giving you a possible reason why a Shepard with an irrational hatred of Liara might not have flattened her face when she hugged him/her.

If you can do better then please do. Or don't, whatever.

It's not a case of "your way of playing is not like mine so it shouldn't be supported" but "you're angry at this aspecet of the game. Deal with it. Or don't. It doesn't affect me."

Ryzaki wrote...Ah okay.

So she got them off Shep's corpse? And decided not to give them to him/her when she first saw him/her. How nice. =]

Or found it on the ground on Alchera, or drifting off into space. Who knows?

I found it interesting that when Shepard brings the info on the SB Liara has the tags on her desk. When she leaves she takes them with her. Not sure what to make of that.

Shepard was 16 at the time.

I agree. My original post that wose quoted was a reply to a post where someone  said something about that there's no reason to hate Garrus and Liara. And I said that a xenophobic Shepard or a Shepard that doesn't like Garrus/Liara's personality could easily hate/doesn't like them. Even when I played as a Renegade Shepard, he doesn't hate aliens (with the exceptions of Batarians, due to Mindoir), though he's not too fond of them. I never said that I don't like aliens.

Which is another way of saying exactly what I said. "You don't play the way I do so your option shouldn't be supported and I don't care if it is." which is fine but call a spade a spade.

I'm not trying to take away your Shep's option to be BFFs with Liara. I would simply like the option for otherwise. Ra forbid.

Or found it on the ground on Alchera, or drifting off into space. Who knows?

Either way she has them and doesn't give them to Shep until he/she invites her up to the Normandy. That's pretty lousy.

Yeah they're supposedly from Hackett. It is all confusing. But idk if it's confusing on purpose, in a supposed to be intriguing way. Or, it's an Ooops from the writers confusing. But honestly, our attention was drawn to the tags blantantly. So, I'm thinking Liara's actions w/ it should mean something.

I love Hackett.....but you know BW. They'll stick a knife in you just to feast on your sweet, sweet tears.

Problem? I'm hearing you can tell her off in ME3. Where's the problem?

In ME1 you can threaten to throw Liara into a volcano if she is not useful.
In ME2, the first thing Shepard does when he sees her is hug her. And you can't choose not to.
That's a problem.

Poor thing, and Miranda covered half of my screen with her ass and I didn't ask her to do so.

Yes, but unlike with Liara, the game didn't try to tell you how your Shepard feels towards Miranda.

Of course it does. It's literally screaming TAP THAT ASS!!!!!!!!

Well i did not like hiring a crazy psycho like Jack in ME2 but nobody asked me my opinion i just dealt with it...so you should too in ME3

If you let Jack die, you only need to stand her for one game, I have to stand Liara for three.

I don't believe Hackett is a Cerberus operative, but he's proven to be ruthless in the past and has used the resources available to him to make the most of a situation, see the murder of Darius. >.>

But about Liara; hopefully she starts out on the Shadow Broker ship and one reason or another requires her to flee, so she'll set up the limited info she had on the Normandy.

As far as Liara being on the Normandy. Of course she would be. I haven't read spoilers regarding that, but Cerberus gave Shep and Liara the SB intel. I'm sure it wasn't outta the goodness of their heart. They tracked the investigation and now know where th SB base is. (Altho, can't it move?)

They're after Shep and want to cripple her/him any way they can. Liara would more than likely be in great danger. As well as any helpful info and sources she may have.

Huge difference. You have the option of being quite rude to Miranda  while Shepard and Liara are cannonically friends.

That's true.

I just don't think Mass Effect would have done better if you could be a glorified KKK member.

It's more like being a ****** for the sake of being a ******.
