Yes, becuase all the people who romanced Miranda (myself included) did that for "DAT ASS". It's not for her intelligence, or her personality.

Huge difference. You have the option of being quite rude to Miranda  while Shepard and Liara are cannonically friends.

You can be quite rude to Liara too, it's just she accept it more lightly then others.

Nah it's more like it's not consistent.

You can be rude as hell in ME1 (and it was consistent. Shep would constantly act like he didn't care for Liara) but in ME2 that all vanishes for most of the time until random moments where Shep acts either professional o somewhat harsh that are quickly glossed over by both parties before they go back to acting like friends.

I mean I'm not asking for "OMG LIARA YOU SUCK!" but the option for Shep to be cool and professional instead of hugging her and making jokes with her would be nice.

Hey, as far as I remember you can be dick to all characters in ME1 and they'll still be happy to see you in ME2.

EDIT: Hell, even Conrad Verner is happy to see you no matter what you did to him in Me1.

which I really really hated.

Especially when my renedouche held the geth data out of spite and Tali still went on about her crush on him. Garrus was pretty bad but that was the worse.

Cerberus gave Shep a personality transplant inbetween games. They must've.

Edit: Conrad is a fanboy. Of course he's happy to see Shep even if Shep was a douche.

The forced friendships with Garrus/Tali can be ended by killing them on the SM though. If Liara's killable in ME3 I'll have no complaints.

Player's enjoyment comes first, if some characters get in the way of that then I'll certainly remove them.  It's not like they're real people.

Yes yes whatever. Player enjoyment comes first. I won't need to kill her if BW learned that forced friendships are not enjoyable and throw my Shep's characterization out the window. It's not fun.

Except that's not at all true. Garrus and Tali (and Wrext to an extent) are the only forced friendships and yes in games where my Shep doesn't like them I either kill them off (Garrus and Wrex) or intentionally fail their loyalty mission so said friendship is "broken" (Tali.).

So yeah the overexaggeration isn't working in your favor.

I've always hoped for the "I'm glad you're willing to help, but please help in some place other than my ship" option. Killing off characters is a bit extreme and resource wasting (in theory they can help stopping the Reapers), being rude and leaving on Normandy - resource wasting, too.

Liara seems to be one of ideal candidates (along with VS and DLC squadmates) to get a life outside Normandy, so option to leave her be Shadow Broker in some safe place looks plausible to people who aren't looking forward to have her in squad.

Seriously I would've been just fine with this.

I really really hope it ends up being an option.

It's why I like morrigan (despite not liking her). I don't like her but I can ask her to leave 10 minutes within meeting her and then only have to deal with her for about 15 minutes of gametime.
Can't do that with the ME squad.

Does anyone still laugh at the irony of Liara refusing to join Shepard at first in ME2 because of Feron and the only reason she actually found Feron was because of Shepard? All that time, Liara could have saved herself a load of trouble if she had actually gotten onto the Normandy and now people are saying it makes more sense to not have her on the Normandy now that she's the Shadow Broker.
Did the leaks actually mention the Shadow Broker's ship being compromised and Liara needing to run? Maybe that's a good thing that all that power is out of her hands. We've all seen what happened to the previous Shadow Brokers. Next thing you know, she'll be replaced by a volus.
I'm with Ryzaki on this: Liara will be a lot less obnoxious to have around when she's as vulnerable as the rest of the team.

Contrived or whatever, it's just bad writing. Plain and simple. You might like it because it concerns your favorite character, but when the story relies on one character moving significant chunks of the plot forward (when it could easily be written otherwise), then the story is getting lame.

Much emphasis on the "easily." Because that's what gets to most people.
