You seem to forget that in every habitable planet in Styx Theta, there were rachni. They're like intelligent cockroaches. Very, very dangerous enemies to have.

The queen is probably the last of her kind. That's all the reason I need to let her go. I am with shepard on this, I won't be the one to end an entire species. She may attack humans then it is different. But she at least deserves a chance.

Okay. now set those hostile rachni loose  in Horse Head Nebula. What would happen? Same thing that happened at peak 15. At the rate that they breed. And their natural resilience and durability.

Last I checked it took the Krogan to be uplifted for the Citadel races to survive. They could always use the Krogan ag.... nevermind.

That's when there were billions of them.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't completely glass a few rachni strongholds, provided they weren't garden worlds.  Those are too rare and precious to destroy.

If the queen is hostile then all she has to do is lay a clutch of eggs and hitch a ride off-world or otherwise find a safe place to hide while her children overrun Port Hanshan.

It's not just the people on Noveria I'm concerned about. The loss of Noveria would affect countless others in Citadel space and beyond. I'm not really worried about a rachni war as I don't think the rachni could restart their civilization that fast (it'd take decades, at least), but I do fear the potential loss of Noveria.

Indeed it could, in this case you don't have enough information to have an informed decision, you must act from your guy or your fears, or rely on a rational decision with incomplete information.  I know which you chose, and why you did, I'm just pointing out that the sour yellow note is later on spoken of in ME2, where the queen mentions helping you against those who soured the notes of her mothers.  I wonder who those might be?

The loss of Noveria would be bad, but I did not feel that I had enough information to condemn an entire species based on fear or extrapolation of partial information.

Hey now, you have reasons to release the Rachni if you want to metagame (or do Noveria last); releasing a known enemy long thought dead upon Citadel space is almost sure to accelerate weapon buildup, especially as the Council neutered the Krogan and can't just drown the Rachni in waves of Krogan blood anymore.

It's not much of a war without air superiority. The rachni got ships from Cerberus because the Cerberus jailors were astonishingly careless. Rachni are dangerous on the ground, but they don't have a manufacturing base to be a threat to the wider galaxy.

Except those eggs were provided by the captured queen or cloned without her presence by Ceberus to be used as shock troops, and accidentally shipped as supplies to those facilities.
