No surprise that the two regular Talimancer orphans are here. But anyhow:

Sadly based on the leaks so far, there won't be squadmate replacements. So you're basically handicapped for wanting more variety in gameplay.

It'll be nice to get a confirmation on this from Bioware, but thats probably going too deep into spoiler territory. And if it does turn out that Tali & Garrus will have squad replacements, BW won't be getting free handjobs from dextro fans anymore, so they probably won't wanna risk that.

Quarians having no chance of winning if Tali isn't alive makes sense to me, however unfortunate it may be. But I'd rather she be there to witness the demise of her species. At least for my renegade playthrough.

LOL ur prob right so im bettin on no replacement but watevs i kept tali alive cuz shes adorable........ even garrus is usually alive , i can deal with him as furniture on the normandy unless they brought back ME1 garrus

It's not hypocrisy; I keep everyone alive in the suicide mission every time. If it had been any other two squadmates returning, I wouldn't expect Bioware to provide replacements for them either. Bottom line: if Shepard screws up in the SM, he/she should have to deal with it. No matter who it is getting killed off.

I agree. Just like how every other choice might backfire.

Either deal with it or go back and redo it.

What, you mean tabula rasa Garrus, where he responded to pretty much everything you said like it was some sort of Jedi mind trick?

Seriously, though, I never had any trouble seeing ME1 Garrus and ME2 Garrus as the same person.  He's always been a stubborn, sharpshooting smartass that had more raw talent than anyone gave him credit for, a man of action frustrated by the status quo with a strong sense of personal duty, a scary violent streak, and a penchant for putting his foot in his mouth.  ME2 Garrus was less of a formal tightass (in my headcanon, he picked up his snarky sense of humor from hanging out with Ash and Wrex on deck two), but wiser, harsher, and more broken due to his experiences with Shepard and on Omega.

I don't think thats the complaint. The complaint is that Tali and Garrus had just as much a chance of dying as everyone else, but if they both died, it now has major consequences on ME3.

There were 12 squadmates in ME2. WTF did you expect? Not to mention most of them were completely pointless.
Samara could have been replaced by Liara, Jacob by the VS, Grunt by Wrex/Wreave. As much as I like Thane, he was pretty pointless too.

im wasnt felling the "omg its all my fault all my team died.............btw shep i found sidonis lets kill him" hmmmmm diddnt i tell you killing people wasnt the answer in me1 garrus. and then i found out he is on the squad again in me3 and that sent me over the edge i just hope hes not sitting in the main battery again mopping about his squad getting killed. i would welcome the old garrus back (meaning i hope he got over the whole omega thing)

What I'd like to know is: do we have to recruit them? I do care about best mission outcome, but I don't want Team Dextro on my squad.

From what I could find, you will be able to tell them not to come along. You can do the same to the VS, if the dialogue is still current(which it isn't, but that's the leak for you). James, Liara, *spoiler* and *spoiler* are with you regardless.

Bah. I prefer my method. Make the people I don't like the designated pencil pushers and desk warriors. At least they'll be somewhat useful.

Well, spoiler, he gets over it and does a lot less calibrating.  And really, I never hated him for wanting revenge and disregarding my advice--he'd been deeply hurt and lost his way, and even if he hadn't, it's up to him to choose his own morals.

Seriously, though, I think having ten people you really care about get violently murdered because the eleventh ratted you out is grounds for being a little upset.  And he didn't really mope per se--more like got pissed as hell.

You know who was really mopey?  Miranda.  All this "genes this" and "father that" and "oh it's so hard being perfect" and "I'm not worthy..."  But, like Garrus, she grows through her own actions as well as through Shepard's example.  At the end of ME2, Miri's confident in herself enough that she tells TIM to stick it, and Garrus (if you paragon it) has learned that being truly just requires more than dishing out justice.

(And for those of you wondering, that's why I tend to prefer paragon: better character arcs.)

That is definitely an upgrade. No Pyjak had ever whined to me about not feeling welcome on alien planets. Instead they jump and meep happily.

I know that, but Tali is required for the best outcome for her mission (as are most ME2 squad members)

But that's the beauty of it, choices that have consequences that you can't argue are cosmet where character x fills in for character y with no substantive change.

I have a "worst possible start" character that I'm playing first where everyone from ME2 is dead, literally the cew is shepard, joker, and edit. The fact that playing 3 blind with all these handicaps means I'll probably get a terrible ending, but doesn't that make it more realistic and cool?

It is a little funny how some people are asking for consequences for their actions and then don't want them when they're not beneficial towards them.

Haha, yeah.  I'm just teasing the Talimancers, I like her character.  Wouldn't that be epic though, a Pjyak engineer prodigy... with daddy issues... lol

See, that's how awesome I am.  Feel free to send Garrus to the evil bees all you want, though--it's your tastes and your save files.

BTW, you have to re-hide spoilers when you quote someone.

Tarrus and Gali.

Tarrus is one of the few Quarians who left the flotilla during their pilgrimage to join Citadel Security. His father always said that he was a hot head and atypical for Quarian which was the cause for a lot of tension in their relationship. He eventually got fed up with the red tape and bureaucratic crap on the Citadel and left to fight crime as a vigilante on the flotilla. He is an excellent shot and loves his rifle.

Gali is a female Turian engineer and one of the best ones at that. She's very intelligent despite her age, but also inexperienced and somewhat naive. Her father was a Primarch in the Turian Hierarchy until he was killed by the Heretic humans, an isolationist off shoot of the human race. She has a fondness for omnitools, her combat drone, and shotguns.
