Hello
I down loaded the controller patch to make Mass Effect work with the controller.
Everything seems to work ok, except that i cant open crates and some doors.
Has anyone else incountered this problem? If you have and know how to fix it please let me know.

Firstly it's not a patch it's an unofficial mod. Try not to get them confused.
Did you try using the keyboard to play the game first and everything worked fine? What you are reporting can often come from other things than controller mods.
If it definitely is related to the mod itself you may have more luck contacting the people who created the mod to report the problem.

I guess my only option is to do a line by line comparison. In hopes of finding the part that effects the crates.

If you have messed about with config files without knowing what you are doing you are probably best just uninstalling the game then reinstalling and just using the keyboard. If you prefer a controller stick to consoles.

Nope, I got it working.
When you run the game with steam, it has certain files in different places than the none steam version. This "Mod" was made for the none steam version. The file that did not match was the BIOGame.ini.(which u have to rename DefaultGame.ini) I could not tell what it added for using a controller so I went with the original.

So if you run the steam version, and want to use a controller here is what you need to do?
Download the Config_ME_PC1.1
rename the BIOInput.ini to DefaultInput.ini
and rename the BIOGuiResources.ini to DefaultGuiResources.ini
If you wish to change the controller assigned buttons. You will have to edit the DefaultInput.ini.

I placed the files in the
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Valve\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\mass effect\\BioGame\\Config

so you say that with a steam version it doesn't work if just replace the files in
\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect\\Config ?
because the files that must be overwritten should be the one there according to the instructions
thank you !

I seem to have the same problem. Only I downloaded it from Gamefly. Everything works great except crates and I am guessing doors too. I compared them side by side and didn't see a different in the mapping of "A" - xbox control to "E" - keyboard
