I'm really not that keen on it, mostly because everything is so small now. There are little convoluted boxes for everything, and it makes me feel like I'm scrolling through my Android's app menu. It also took me a while to find Netflix, which I've used many times before, and then I had to reinstall it. Huh? Really? Okay, then. Not to mention Netflix's new layout gives me a headache...
That somehow implies that the old one was good. It was not. Nor was the one before it.

I mean, is it really helpful or convenient to look up how many games your friend played up to 45 days ago? Who cares?
Though I could see this being helpful, to say, a parent who would like to know the history of games played. But not to someone who doesn't have the time or have stalker/nosy tendencies.
It would of been better to have a tab under Friends- Online, Away and Offline instead of the useless game activity in the Beacon Activity.
And as SilentNukee already pointed out, I don't like how it shows only four friends being on even though there may be more, you have to click on them. And I can't figure out why is it that only some friends have the sheep and others don't.
I do see where the coming soon has Youtube. That, I do like.
I may come back to this in a month or so to update my opinion. But I see it's going to take a while to get used to.

I never implied that the old one was "good" per se. I might have implied that it was better than the mishmash we have now. <_<
I say that because, in my humble opinion, it was.

Fair enough, so long as we agree that Netflix has yet to produce a decent app for Xbox (or any other console for that matter).

Seriously though. I like it. Less clunky and more responsive. Guess I have to go out and get a kinect now.

It still not the bees knees. You can verbally seach for stuff, but its still kinect voice recognition. Its not bad, but not perfect, my wife is too quiet, my daughter mumbles too much. I seem to be the only one who can actually navigate by voice.
Other than my infant son, who can disrupt anyone using it by cooing.
Also make sure your living room is big enough for it.

Yes, yes indeed. The old one was at least somewhat streamlined and easy to navigate. The new one is similar, but has this "in your face!" quality I do not appreciate. Lol. I think the worst part is that now, when you start a show or movie, it has a bunch of stuff at the bottom you have to close out of...then there's the "now you should watch..." stuff at the end of the show, too. Yuck.

It says "Beacons tell your Xbox LIVE and Facebook friends that you want them to join you on Xbox LIVE".... excuse me isn't that what invites are for? And in my case my cellphone works 100 x's better when tryin to get friends to play with....

I'm gonna have to look further into this "Beacons and Activity" menu too........ because it seems insanely pointless to me.

Pretty much, but it does one thing invites don't. I set a beacon for Rockband 3, and it lets me know every time someone is playing it until I shut it off. Quite handy, since you're not always told what your freinds are doing or not doing besides connecting and disconnecting from xbl.

But when you actually update it and see it for yoursself..
Why did they have to bunch everything up together? Like wtf? I cant even see whos in my friends parties anymore
And come on what is up with the bing search? Microsoft, no one likes bing. Jeeze.
I dont know. I dont see the point to it. It seemed fine before, tbh.

It also tells your friends that play the game you beaconed that you're playing it as well, even if you're offline. Basically, it spams your friend's list.

Quite! Without the trouble of spamming it yourself.

THIS. Lol. That, and traditional facebook (i.e. not spamming them with "I wanna play wif you!" stuff). Or even BSN, for that matter. I really don't see why any of that needed to be tweaked.

On the other hand, what I really hate is this: on a page with five panels, there are three panel ads, and the one in the center rapid fires through four ads like an ADHD person on Red Bull. This is distracting and just encourages me to avoid the dashboard as much as I possibly can.

So I notice that the avatar only appears on the social page. And props have been deactivated and only work if you explicitly click two levels down into the avatar. I suspect that this will kill the avatar merchandise market. Not that this really concerns me, but I am always curious as to why a company would kill a service that makes it money.
That's a good point. that move on their part really makes no sense to me. And because of it I no longer get to see my Strormtrooper dance to my discoball prop....

So it's now pointless? Great.
