Why is the bonusdisc on blu-ray BioWare, since the soundtrack won't work?

Why on earth have you pressed the bonusdisc onto a blu-ray for the ps3? I bet you didn't do that for the 360 version?
Is this some kind of joke?
I can't listen to the soundtrack provided since I don't own a blu-ray player in my computer.

This release is getting more and more stupid BioWare. two week delay, then our codes got messed up, rather big framerate issues and slowdowns and now this?
Do you really hate us ps3 users or what?

It clearly says on the back of the package that the bonus disc is a DVD! Read it yourself! Now I paid full price for this package and I paid for a DVD with this content so how do I lay my hands on one?
or shall I have to ask someone with the 360 collectors edition to make a torrent file so I can download the songs cause I paid for them.

Somekind of refund would be in place since the package is lying and I can't even listen to a soundtrack I paid for, its clearly misleading information.

Since some people decided to mock my post here I should clarify that the soundtrack I paid for that is in the collectors edition CAN'T be used on the ps3, if you click on it it states "insert this disc into your pc to listen" or someting like that.. well since I don't own a BD player for my pc I can't. The soundtrack was actually what I looked forward to the most in this collectors edition since I enjoy gamesoundtracks and tries to buy them whenever I can so here I sit with a soundtrack totally useless because of false advertisment.

yeah people realize this...but that doesn't mean it can't play a BD....the problem the guy is having here is that most people don't purchase a computer with a BD drive so of course this renders the soundtrack useless since they won't let you copy the files into the PS3 HDD nor listen to it through the BD

so that's the issue...both above comments aren't really reading into it like they should

to be honest i just think bioware hates the ps3...and it's pissing me off...next thing you know (highly likely too) they won't release a toolset to cook mods for ps3...making us pay for their DLC only :[

shadow seemed to be the only one that read my post!
the first two comments under my post must be people that think its fun to pay for something that you can't even use/listen too.

The soundtrack is useless without a BD player in my computer. I can't listen to it on the ps3 I can'ät even copy the damn thing to my PS3 HDD, you should check it yourself if you got the collectors edition and then tell me if its cool paying for something you can't even hear a second of.

Well Im not really hating BioWare for their game, Im hating the release right for having me pay for something I can't hear.

Ya if the package sais its a DVD, then it must be a DVD. Wonder what Bioware sais about it.

But isnt it always meaning trouble with exotic formats, and a closed system like a gameconsole.

Oh, no I read the post. The easiest thing to see is you are complaining about a BD coming with the PS3 bundle. In all honesty, investing in an external BD drive for your computer WOULD be worth the money. Think about it, in the future you may want to watch a BD movie and the PS3 is being used for a game or just about anything else. You pop the movie in the external drive for your PC, sit back and relax.

Now, before you say ANYTHING about spending more money, I did not forget about that. I'm simply stating it would be a good investment.

On the note of the disc actually being a BD disc, EVERY PS3 collector's edition of any game I've bought has come with a BD disc. Only difference here is you say the box says DVD. On that note, yes Bioware should have fixed the text on the box, or put a DVD in instead. However, I do not see a refund coming your way.

Since I only bought the standard PS3 version, I'd be interested in a copy of the soundtrack as well for my Zune. If no one minds :D

Eliv: yeah That would probably be a good investment but I shouldn't have to make that investment so I m not happy to be fooled on something that I paid for and was told  when I pre-ordered to work.
They never wen't out stating that we would have to have a BD player in our PC's to be able to play the soundtrack.
Also I have an external BD player for movies connected to my homecinemasystem so a BD player for the PC is quite not anything I need right now.

This is total crap and I rather have some friend with a 360 rip them for me illegal than to throw out money on a BD player for one soundtrack.
I have also written to EA asking them to send me a DVD disc from some of the 360's versions hehe. I see what they answers if they answers.

i have to agree with this post. very frustrating. and i would guess poor design choice or just not thought through. i would imagine the majority of ps3 owners could well have the ps3 as their sole blu ray machine. which is perfectly reasonable given the price tags involved. so yes...it may be a worth while investment, but surely it defeats the point of putting it on blu ray, which was surely so that it was specifically suitable for the ps3.

add to that, of course, that both sets of packaging both say dvd...and something seems very wrong

Contact EA support as they have instructions to provide you with a solution.

The blu-ray requirement is a Sony one. The box should clearly have indicated it as such - if it does not this was an error in the box art that wasn't caught.

And a friendly note that you are welcome to discuss your views and grievances as always, but talk of pirating anything will not be allowed on the forums.

thanks a lot fernando for the quick reply.

im surprised at the requirement. and never knew about it, but i guess i shouldn't be. thats obviously something that may need to be thought through some more. although i appreciate not by yourselves but by sony. appreciate the quick response though and will email ea help.

you learn something new everyday! very interesting. i never knew sony insisted like that.

yeah i was about to say...you shouldn't resort to talking about piracy...

but i am surprised to see bioware actually reading and being a part of these forums (no complaints obviously but it would be nice if you guys made a patch for the ps3 version to fix a modest sum of issues and fix the online profiles that update from the ps3 since they are inaccurate in the photos and such)

thx Fernando for the reply and yeah I stepped out of line talking about piracy and im sorry for that, gladly though it got your attention =)
I have contacted EA regarding this matter and if this truly is Sonys doing (again) then I don't know what I shall do haha.
Do they hate their users maybe? ;)

but thx again Fernando for actually taking your time to respond, its easy to get frustrated when its rather much money involved and things don't work as you hoped!

What solution do EA provide? I haven't opened my Dragon Age for PS3 (EU) yet (I have the Collector's Edition) as it's my Christmas present. I have to say I was looking forward to the soundtrack - is it supposed to be in on the EU CE bonus disc?

If so, what do EA propose I do to be able to listen to the soundtrack?

They haven't responded yet, it takes ALOT of time to have a response from them but I hope they do provide me with a solution 'cause I ain't getting myself a BD player for the PC to be able to hear this.. I rather see they make some little nice program for the PS3 that copies the soundtrack of the BD to my ps3 in worst case.. it could be done.
or as I gently wrote to them in my mail they can send me a DVD with the content from one of the unsold 360 versions that disc should work just as nice in my PC as if it had been shipped with the ps3 version of the game, now I don't think they will ever do that though hahaha.

Its not that Im not glad having everything else in HD on the disc but not being able to listen to the soundtrack is not fun.

The best solution for getting the soundtrack out of the BD is to install linux on your PS3 (if it's not a slim). I recommend this one http://pdaxrom.org/index.php/Main_Page since it can be run from your pendrive. You just copy the soundtrack from the disc to your pendrive and do not have to download the soundtrack illegaly :P

The claim that sony demanded the music etc. to come on a Blu-ray seems strange as I have had other games coming with an extra DVD.

I don't have a collectors edition, but I don't understand why it wouldn't have been possible to make sure people could copy of the songs of the Blu-ray disc and put them onto their XMB. I assume the reason for this complaint is that there is some kind of DRM on the music now, but I have some trouble undestanding why, I mean the people who care enough about game music probably bought the collectors edition anyway and the financial value of stand alone game music is probably so low that the cost/risk of piracy if the people could copy the songs onto their XMB is quite trivial.

Simplest solution to me here would be that you simply put up the songs as DLC in mp3 format available for people who bought the collectors edition. You know who they are anyway due to having the other CE exclusive DLC.

I can confirm it says dvd http://dragonage.bio...rdercollectors/ i defy someone to prove otherwise (spent a good 10 mins trawling gamesites and artwork sites lol). As the original poster states its false advertising (mistake or not) so if you get no joy from EA get a refumd from your retailer stating false advertising and not fit for purpose (playing on dvd player as stated on box).

As I understand from other posts the sound track is IN MP3 format to begin with on the disc.

There might be another solution, though.

EA allows you to download legally the version of the game you have as long as you have the game disc and the game manual (don't know if this is for PC only, though). There should be a site/page on the EA website that allows you to what I'be been talking about here.

Sorry to hear about the mixup, though.

aries, that is a solution I happily uses if they will provide me with such a solution. I thought they were on mp3 aswell and therfore I was quite "wtf" when I couldn't be able to get them from the BD disc to the ps3, should have been thought of.

Paolo: Today I recived an answer from EA regarding the DLC problems that was solved three days ago, I quote directly from their message I got today, like 10 minutes ago "we are looking into the problem and hopefully will be able to provde a solution real soon"

come on, EA solved this like three days ago. what kind faulty company are they?
