I've been playing DA:O just fine ever since I bought it, until now.
My daughter was playing on her character with no issues this morning. When I switched over to my user profile to load my game, I noticed there was no audio during the opening EA Dragon/ Bioware ad. I didn't think much of it, went ahead & loaded up my save...as my header reads, I had ZERO audio!

I checked the volume on the TV- all good.
I checked the regular TV stations to see if someone accidentally hit mute on the remote or something- nope, the voume was good. I hear the TV just fine.
I backed out of my game (pressed the start button, chose exit game, blah blah blah) to see if it was my PS3- nope,  it still had the audible "clicks" as I cylced through the menus. Even my SFIV save data had the music playing when I hovered over it.
I decided to turn off the system in hopes that whatever the issue was would correct itself when I turned it back on. I waited 30 seconds & proceeded to load DA:O back up- same thing. No audio.

At this point, not only am I confused, but now I'm irritated.
I back out of the game AGAIN & check the online help menu via the PS3. Not a whole lot of answers specifically related to this problem *sighs*.
I decide to get creative & disconnect my HDMI line to the TV & put it back in to see if the PS3 will recognize it- nothing.
I even dc'd it from the system side- nada. (Yes, I had both ends dc'd at the same time, just to be sure)

I check the disc itself for any flaws & even clean it to be double sure- it's pristine, not one scratch, no fogginess, no blemishes at all.
I put the game back in with my fingers crossed that everything will work out- nope. Same thing, still no audio.
I switch over to my daughter's profile to see if it's a problem with one of my files. Maybe a corrupted save?- nope. Now she has no sound in-game either!

At this point, I delete the game from my profile entirely & reload the whole thing. Yeah, I'll lose my 40+ hours in, but it's a game. I had fun, I'll have fun getting back there (IF I can get the friggin' sound working!)- nuh uh. STILL NO AUDIO!

I check here on the forums for anything similar to what I'm experiencing- nothing.
I look at EA's DA:O customer support- nothing there, either.

I am beyond perplexed at this point & currently reformatting my entire PS3. 5 hours?! EVERY save gone. Seems extreme, perhaps, but I am either not knowledgeable enough or just plain unlucky. I don't know what else to do.

Has anyone else had this problem or heard about something like this?

I apologize for the wall of text here, but I thought it'd help to be as descriptive as possible.
Thank you for any help/advice/posts to this in advance!

*UPDATE*
After reformatting my system & reinstalling the game, the sound is back! I have no idea what that means as far as what exactly was wrong, but there you go...Image IPB

If it took reformatting, chances are you could have just deleted the game data and reinstalled. Sounds like it was a corrupted file.

Hmm quick question, you install a console game? Thought they always run of disc, like insert and play.

Some games on the PS3 and 360 will install a bit of data from the disc to allow load times to move a bit faster.

For me the audio will cut out for 3-5 minutes then comes back, it happens pretty often. Hopefully they patch it.

you missed something in your hunt for a cure, you forgot to check at least one other game and/or DVD/Blu-Ray

This is true.
Seems like a no-brainer now, in hindsight. At the time, I felt that I had exhausted all of my possibilities. D'oh! Image IPB
The game works fine now, however, so I'm thankful for that.

Thanks for the post & the advice!

I cannot get the audio to come up at all. I exit the game and audio works fine. All other games work fine. I erased the game data and saves and reinstalled several times and there is no game audio at all. Not even a click. my audio is set to come out my optical cable. I was wondering does this game output sound only to HDMI or somthing? I dont have an HDMI stereo to test this. I tried plugging in USB headphones but there is no way to redirect the audio to them. Please Help. I can't reformat my system I have to many other things on it that I would lose. my system was purchased last christmas

Dont know if you saw my post about this in the other forum, but..

Make sure that you have not got both 5.1 Dolby and 5.1 DTS enabled in your PS3 Audio Output Settings. If you have, un-tick 5.1 DTS and save the Audio Settings. You will now have sound.

For me this happens in several games. I usually have both DTS and Dolby enabled, but when i come accross this situation I end up turning of DTS until im watching a film that requires it etc..

Hope this Helps!!
