I know it's been said before but basically they all don't have very important positions in ME3, sure ME characters were there from the beginning but it's weird how none of them have permanent roles in ME3. Mordin is super memorable, more so than most ME characters and yet...the others, yeah I get it but it seems there should be more choice available.

I would make the point that, the squaddies that are there are there for a reason, Garrus, VS and Tali have been your connection all the way through and Vegas the new guy and the others are spoilers. from my PoV BW got it almost spot on, but thats just my veiw, lets not forget some characters have stuff going on. (Mordin and the Genophage, for example)

When did squadmates play an actual role in the missions other than just helping Shepard as henchmen?

There were 12 squad mates. Not all are going to have equally important roles.

Mordin is great, I agree... but tbh....  more so than Mass Effect characters? it's a very subjective point.

Those of us who romanced either a VS or Liara would most likely disgree and Wrex is a lot more memorable than Grunt (imo) :)

Quite a lot of what we know and learn about the ME2 crew implies *not gonna hang around* Mordin because of his age, Jack because she tells you so, pretty much, Miranda and Jacob work for Cerberus, Thane is dying, Zaeed and Kasumi you can't even even speak with.. not properly... Samara is a justicar and will have other things to do and so on....

But I guess we will see soon enough how things will play out, only 3 months to go :D

a lot of people r unhappy regarding none of the mass effect 2 squaddies being squad members in the final game? but who knows the likes of miranda and mordin for example could still make the final game

Yes, it does feel strange but I don't think Bioware isn't going to make any of the Mass Effect 2 squad members permanent, it wouldn't make any sense.

While I really want Samara to be back, I highly doubt she will, but there were other members that had a very important role in Mass Effect 2, as was stated both Mordin and Miranda were very important way back when, and I think Bioware is probably going to make one of them a permanent squad member

Just as long as it's Mordin coming back and NOT Miranda!

I think a turncoat Miranda would be an AWESOME addition to the permanent squad...making comments about Cerberus as she blasts them...plus we are all going to miss her 15% weapon damage bonus...

Editing title: ME2 squaddies were just expendable sideshow material. Too bad they made them just as compelling as the main attractions and now we have to watch them being unceremoniously wheeled off the stage.

I could not agree more. The ME2 characters were much better than the ME1 ones (imo) and to have them demoted to less significant roles just to bring make worse characters is a massive kick in the teeth.

I honestly think this will bite them hard when this game is actually released and reviewed.

Haven't we gone over this a bunch of times already? I agree with the Q&A responses in regards to the henchman questions: In a time of war (and the entire universe acknowledging it as such this time around), you can't expect them to babysit Shep through the entire story; it makes sense they have more to do in their respective positions and/or on their own homeland.

If an alliance officer is specifically assigned to serve under Shep, then sure, otherwise no imho.

There'd be characters that could form an exeption, like Jacob (if re-admitted into the Alliance after his Cerberus involvement seeing he's got roots there).
If we're allowed to take along strays, then maybe the others (Thane, Miri, Jack, Grunt). Still seems reasonable they would have personal or professional crap to take care of that doesn't involve Shep.
Thane has his son, Miri her sister, Grunt wants a clan and all bar Grunt are plain criminals in the eyes of the Alliance.
Mordin's got his own part to play during the war, I can see us hooking up with him for part of the game at most.
Samara? who knows, she's got her code, don't know what that'll compell her to do.
And Morinth is a pickle seeing she's a fugitive and a murderer and doesn't seem particularly loyal to such a cause, so yeah.

Considering that most squadmates' passive bonuses brings boosters to things like tech powers and Shepard's own passive skills can boost everyone's powers and damage...

No. I won't and I don't think so.

I can live without her.

Absolutely. None of my favorites appears to be on the team, and the only one I even *want* of the ME3 team members (as in the leaked stuff) is Ashley/Kaidan.

I can say this: if their stories are awesome, I won't mind not having them on the team. But the limits on screen presence set by not having them on the team makes that more difficult.
