Is husk a made up word?

No.  It usually means the outer covering of a fruit or seed (like corn--that green stuff you have to peel off), but it can also mean the empty shell of something.

Husks are empty shells, sucked dry of their life and genetic material, repurposed as cannon fodder for the Reapers.

Get it?

Yeah,

I cant wait to see how Brutes look

As long as all this melee stuff doesn't mean that everything will be happening at even shorter ranges than ME2

There was a video shortly after E3 which showed shepard pistol slapping someone. That looked like fun.

He's just not badass enough to whip out a sniper rifle at close range.  Let him be.

No, it's just something they want to show because it's new and there are enemies that can kill you very fast if you don't kill them first. Like the Phantom.

Not to mention that ME2's melee was awkward as hell.

That's my hope, but when all the Bioware comments and video seems to be Heavy Melee, Melee, Vanguard, Combat Roll, Heavy Melee, Melee, Melee, Heavy Melee, Vanguard, Combat Roll, Vanguard, I can't help but get an impression about where there focus is.

True.

My only concern is that the heavy Melee might not lock in on the enemy I want, but I guess that probably won't be an issue. Enemies in Mass effect usually don't cluster enough to make that an issue.

Yeah, that was a concern of mine as well.  They talked about a new synch system at about 2:28 that made a melee-ing Shep line up with an enemy then the animation triggers.  That appears to be a functioning lock-on system, right?

BTW, I think you are going to see enemies clustering based upon what I've seen thus far, not to mention husks are a swarming adversary as well, and will be present in ME3, so I think it could still be an issue.  I'm hoping this system they describe is locking you and a specific enemy onto one another, in any event.

Well, a Vanguard tends to deal with things at point blank range, so of course they're going to give the guy a good melee.

Anyone see any shotgun footage yet? That's my only real concern left. They've made a big to-do out of assault rifles and melee attacks packing more of a visceral punch that the player can "feel." I want to see the same thing happen with shotguns, especially at close range.

I've heard them say they're being re-worked and overhauled, but haven't seen footage yet. Just could be me staying comfortably isolated from ME3 news to avoid spoilers though.

They showed off a new shotgun, called the Graal, in the last Pulse episode.

It's made by krogans.  And it shoots spikes.

Animations are definitely improved. I love the 90 degree cover turn. Very nice.

Oh, yeah. Shotguns are much better this time. You can even get a mod that adjusts the spread and they seem to work better at a longer range. Well, at least the Katana does.

And it bleeds the enemy out like a stuck pig.

That's not the most interesting shotgun, though.^_^

I'd like to see how they top that.

You know what?  I think I'm going to name all my guns after my celebrity crushes.

Ha. Good luck with that. ME3 has some pretty weird guns.

Just a pet peeve of mine. They aren't called guns. Guns are displayed and collected and sold for exorbitant prices and not used.

Weapons is the correct word. Weapons or fire arms are used in self defense. Or to kill, harm, maim.

Hopefully they won't be copy and paste enimies like in ME2, the enimies in ME3 so far are all unique
