I am very picky when it comes to this sort of realism. It would be totally retarded if they dont sort it out. The right arm is holding the majority of the weight of the rifle, weapon or whatever (as Shep is right handed) so its much more sensible that he strikes with his left hand (try holding a rifle when punching with the hand that your holding it with, quite difficult). It's also something worth noting when Shep it going to be throwing grenades or comabat drones into place. Should he throw with his left hand too? Or perhaps have some sort of mini launcher attatchment on his weapons to propel greandes etc at a distance? I dunno. But yes it needs to be sorted. It will make me playing experience a little undermined. Little things make all the difference.

If Shepard is just moving the gun to his left hand then its fine. Shepard is cybernetically augmented, and wearing power armour, so chances are he can hold a rifle in his opposite hand for a few moments while punching someone. As long as they show the gun being moved, and it doesn't just disappear, then I'm fine with it.

If he is cybernetically augmented why would he need to swap hands holding his gun to punch at all. Shepard should be able to punch enemies down with his left hand no problem, then resume aiming poisition in much less time. Does that make sense? Also, from what I have seen in ME1 and 2, the Omni tool is generally on the left hand anyway. Makes sense. Hell, even the trailer shows shepard with his omni blade on his left arm, and the cover too!! It just seems like its an aesthetic thing to look cooler in gameplay than actually make more sense practically on the battlefield. Like I say, the little things can make a big difference. When its ME, I dont expect anything less

Hmm, I suppose you're right - the omni-tool does seem to be on the left hand most of the time.jackyboy666 wrote...

The engineer and infiltrator seem to have left-handed melee attacks:

I don't really mind - the implants probably make him ambidextrous so either arm is feasible.

Probably true with Infiltrator's as well.

Probably because it´s PC only so far. It didn´t get best graphics either.
On topic, I like what I´ve seen so far, especially the cover 90º turn. The only thing I´m missing is the possibility to shoot without leaving cover, as in Alpha Protocol. You could shoot without exposing yourself, but without targetting sight (save for the pistol a bit later on - almost game breaking then). I wasted lots of amno with the AR, but in some situations it also saved Thorton´s skin.

Modern Warfare 2 didn't got GOTY, Fallout 3 did.
Black Ops didn't got GOTY, Mass Effect 2 did.
Modern Warfare 3 definitely won't this year either, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Skyrim are in competition for that.
As for the Witcher 2 not being there?
Well, quite a lot of people find that game very boring.

The Witcher 2 is not on the list because it's a PC exclusive. Geoff Keighley is very biased against PC gaming and in an interview even denied Final Fantasy XIV's existence because it had only come out on PC at that point. They also did not nominate Witcher 2 for best graphics. Same with Battlefield 3 which only looks good on PC.Mesina2 wrote...

Gee another combat video. Anyone else as surprised as I am? I could have sworn someone of Bioware said last week that this weeks episode would be on the different game modes (action, story, rpg). Hopefully we get a trailer at least at the VGAs. Is that too much to ask?

Gee another mindless poster who doesn't get the point that showing off story, landscapes and findings is spoilerific and no sane person wants that. The only thing that is left is action. I thought that by now this simple thought was generally accepted by everyone, even the less remarkable ones. Was that too much to ask?

From a realistic pov yeah, but not from game mechanics. What you suggest would imply a camera fast move between having Shep on the left of the screen to the right of the screen (to show the blade maneuver), and then come back again. This has all the potentials to create really awkward problems (like cameras entering walls or enemies or mates' bodies, etc.). Nevermind the other positions where you are in side cover shooting with your weapon on your right hand and then having to make an awkward maneuver to use his left hand (exposing yourself?).
These things are not that easy to "solve". Probably why it hasn't been solved yet.

Devs should also make an animation for 90 deg turn on the inside of L-shaped cover.
You can see it in the gameplay demo from E3.
.
edit: saw the video, its pretty much equal to the one in the biowarepulse, but Shepard is ducked.
.
Anyway, it's logical that Shepard will be able to it.

I didnt propose anything(!?) It is possible to have Shep doing a stabbing motion (or slicing motion) with his left hand without the camera shifitng to the other side completly. Just like the Engineer doing his fire melee. The camera would just need to tilt more when he is doing is strike so you can see the upper part of his torso turning to punch. Not impossible, but admittedly might look less epic as what we have seen. But still it hasent been finished yet. I'm writing this just so that (hopefully) Bioware picks up on this
