I'm playing as a rogue archer, and I seem to be doing more damge with Archer's Lance than Assassinate.
Isn't Assassinate supposed to be the "awesome button" for rogues? Did the patch weaken the ability?
I've been mainly using the two against brittle elites/bosses, and both are fully upgraded. When I use Archer's Lance, I do see a noticeable drop in health when used, though far less so with Assassinate.
Archer's Lance>Assassinate?

Assassinate *is* crap now. Post patch 1.02/1.03 Rogue Hawke is supposed to do mostly auto-attacks, with occasional skills from their weapons trees (Archer's Lance, Twin Fangs) and of course, Decoy (which is the real "awesome button" for Rogues).

protip:
assassinate with a bow vs a brittle enemy gets the brittle damage bonus, but does not remove the effect, meaning that if you're fast, you can follow up with an archer's lance for double CCC.

Nice...I'll have to try assassinate+archer's lance for fun.
Yes, I like the shadow spec for decoy alone.
My archer does plenty of damage from auto attacks, especially with haste, but using abilities makes me feel more involved. Bursting arrow is nice to mix in for the aoe damage (not on nightmare, of course).
