Shale,PC and Oghren as DPS and Alistair as tank? Would this work?

You will need a lot of potions, but it could work.

I'm unsure if any of those guys will be using two-handed swords, but I'd highly encourage at least two do. You'll have no healer so killing things with the quickness will be priority number two, right after making sure everyone who isn't your shield-wielding tank is taking as little damage as possible.

There are bosses that pretty much own everything in melee range. You need at least one caster.

nah you'll get screwed soon enough

Well to combat that could easily ensure one of the warriors is skilled with a bow/crossbow right?

Also Shale has a lot of powerful abilities like area of effect attacks and ranged attacks.
But I agree it would be a good idea to have one of the warriors able to handle archery if required.

You might have to go for the Easy setting for a party like this.

I don't think it would require easy mode.
There would be a lot of regular players who use one Mage. But don't use the Mage very efficiently. So I think it would be possible to succeed with four well used warriors.

man, i'd give that party 2-3 mins against a 5+ group "large quest encounter"
but they could probrably bring down a drake or an ogre.

I don't know about anyone else, but an all warrior party would get boring after awhile. To OP: you should also consider having a rogue for traps and opening locked crates.

Yeah I think Mages/Rogues offer more variety in strategy. My Rogue will experiment with sneaking around, setting traps and backstabbing. Mages can be fun to see if you can co-ordinate their spells with the actions of your fighters.
But I think Shale has special talents allowing you to handle large groups.

I'm considering this ... almost. My caveat would be bringing a rogue, because I hate missing out on whatever is behind locked doors or inside locked chests. My idea would be:
dwarven noble warrior
Shale
Oghren
one of the rogues
The idea behind this is that my dwarf would have a severe distrust for mages and only allow good, honest steel in her group. She also prefers the company of her own people so this is a dwarf-flavored group, provided Shale is a dwarven construction. "He"/it would be built as the tank. Oghren sticks with two-handers. I was thinking my gal would go with two-handers as well.
There are three problems I'd see with an all-warrior group beside the issue of not being able to unlock stuff. The first, of course, is the lack of proper healing. The second is that you likely really want some some ranged damage capacity in any group so you'd need an archer -- and unless you PLAY as an archer-warrior, you're going to have to gimp one of the NPCs who all have their preset talents in melee styles so they'll never reach the pinnacle of ranged combat. The second is that with four warriors (especially if you don't count Shale or Dog as warriors and are running Alistair, Sten and Oghren) you need to spread the available gear a good deal thinner than if you only had one or two.

I think that there are two conditions that one would need for an all warrior group to be possible. First, I think that one member needs to spec into Archery, and that archery is probably best suited to the PC in the party layout of Alistair (who starts with sword and board talents and templar specialization), Oghren (who starts with 2-hander talents and berserker specialization), and Shale (who can spec either tank or DPS, but not ranged). Second, you will need to be prepared to spend lots of gold on potions. In any event, it will probably be very difficult, and the lack of a rogue to open chests would probably make gold very tight.
Incidentally, if it is possible at all on Hard, I would expect that it requires making very smart use of runes and equipment, always attempting to maximize XP gain, and spending a very large percentage of gold on potions. I hesitate to label it impossible, because determined and crafty people can frequently find ways to do things that seem like they should be impossible (such as soloing all of BG2).

You can reach the pinnacle of any weapon tree unless the party member does not have 12 talent points to spend. All of the specializations are not weapon specific*i think* and I think you will find a lot of junk laying around so rogues to open some chests are not gonna make getting gold that much harder.Herbalism will be useful so will traps and poison gernades.

Hmm. I guess it depends on which level the NPCs are when they join. It could be possible that they'll have 12 points to spend still (or more). But I still think it'd make them weaker than they would be if they stuck to their guns, so to speak.
An all-warrior (or all-rogue, for that matter) group should definitely have one member who focuses on Herbalism, another who maxes Trap-Making ASAP, and one who does the same with Poison-Making.
