...on windows XP, by the way.
So I haven't played ME2 in a while, but with the talk of stuff that's going to be in ME3, it got me thinking about the game and I wanted to play it again.
So It tells me that the game cannot be loaded because of a configuration error. After hunting around forums and such for fixes, I couldn't find anything, so I uninstalled and reinstalled.
Same error. So I hunt around some more and find someone saying they run EACoreServer.exe first, then run MassEffect2.exe (not the launcher) and this will allow it to run.
Weird, but that's what it takes the game to run.
So I download the DLCs I had, (Normandy Crash Site, Zaeed, Fire Walker) and try to install them. Normandy Crash Site seems to be installed, but when I try to install Zaeed or Fire Walker I get the "verifying installer" window, which completes and closes without giving me an error message, and then nothing happens.
And of course my old saves can't be used, because they were created with the DLC available.
Perhaps of note, the normandy crash site DLC is a ME2 icon. Zaeed and Fire Walker are the default windows .exe icon. I've heard it suggested that this is the result of trying to use a corrupt install file. But I'm grabbing it from the Bioware website, not sure what I could do about that or how I could check.
Can't install Zaeed, Firewalker
