This sums it up nicely for me. I find the thing that draws me back to play this game as often as I do is the followers. They make this game shine. The gameplay is a blast  and the story is pretty wicked but it's the followers that I tend to miss and want to go back and visit again and remind myself of the reasons they are so exceptional.

9 months later, my level of interest in the DA franchise and indeed all of Bioware is practically non-existent, in large part (but not entirely) because of DA2. Could be revived, but I doubt it.

same here... this franchise lost it's potential I think (which for me was big after DA:O)... but hey it's only my opinion and who really cares about it?

So non-existent that you have to come onto the forums and make sure everybody understands the depth of your disinterest? Posted Image

I'm not QUITE there.  They've made many games I love, even if they both created and then partially ruined one of my favorite franchises.

ME3 will tell me alot - and it doesn't look good right now - about how I'll feel about BioWare going forward.

My feelings about DA2 have not changed, I tried going back to it months ago and found myself bored. I have not been able to overlook the many gripes I have with it. Since my attempted re-play through I've been indulging in ME2 and DAO, I personally find those to be a greater source of enjoyment.

I wouldn't say I've lost interest in Bioware as a whole (wow, DA2 must have been pretty awful to wreck an entire company for you), but to be honest I wouldn't be that fussed if the DA franchise was just ... stopped.

It kinda sucks knowing that there'll never be a game like Origins again

I still love playing DA2. In fact I've come to appreciate the game more and more with each run. Playing other RPGs in the past few months actually increased my appreciation for the game and the franchise.

I was so hyped for DA2 before it came out. Perhaps that is why I'm a bit cynical and jaded right now waiting for ME3 to come out. There is an increasing pattern of 'distraction' advertising that BW has been doing for their latest games and if DA2 was any indication, it is to cover an overall mediocre game.

DA2 is an overall mediocre game. If I voted for it to be the "Most Anticipated Game" in 2010, I'd be voting it the "Biggest Let Down" in 2011 plain and simple.

Followers were the high *googley sigh* Merrill...

Bad story and reused environments with linear questing were the lows. I won't get any more specific than that.

BW knows all this. The question is this: Can they, working within the EA framework, produce some of their magic again?

ME2 did not excite me about the direction of Bioware, DA2 was a slap in the face for me (and the DLCs made things worse), and the leeked ME3 story was the final hit, combined with the other games that came out that I found were much better. So not only DA2.

I still haven't gotten fully through DA2 yet despite beating DA:O about 3-4 times now.....so chances are low that I'll end up playing DA3 unless it looks absolutely amazing.

DA2 is way better then its reputation. If they double developmenttime and bring back all the cheesewheels (and other awesome athmospheric worlddetails) i cant wait to get back into the franchise.

This thread asked for peoples' thoughts on DAII months after release. He gave his thoughts on DAII and the DA franchise as a whole, along with Bioware as a little extension.

I don't see a problem.

If people can continuously love the game on here and post about it, people can also continuously hate the game and post about it so long as it's the "I hate it because of these reasons" type of hate and not the "I hate it because it's for idiots" type of thing.

EDIT: On topic, it's still a bad game because of the linear story, lazy and reactive protagonist, one-sided gameplay, and a whole mess of other things.

I never said anything about hate. He's claiming disinterest, not just in the game, but in the whole company that made it.

I dunno about you guys, but when I lose interest in something, I don't do, talk or think about that something anymore. I've returned to the Bioware forums after a gap of some months because I was finally able to afford the new DLCs and I'm replaying Origins to get a new canon save, so my interest in both games and future developments has been reawakened.

He's free to hate, as are you, however much I disagree with your reasoning. But his claim of disinterest is at odds with his mere presence on the forum.

But I wasn't intending to be taken seriously, I was just poking some gentle fun.

A flawed logic.
Doesn't take into account that I could be here only to talk with friends that I have known for more than a year, about things that are entirely not related to Bioware (go check the Loghain thread, the only thread I am active in. We talk about history).

Why I posted in this thread? Because I felt like it. That does not clash with my disinterest.
Indeed, this is the first time I've been in the DA2 section for months.

Disinterest in the series is just as much a relevant thought to this thread as love and hatred.

Plus, I haven't seen KoP post much in the DAII forums these days.

9 months later, and I still can't even stop think about the horrible waves the same cave I went through a million and more times, the bad pick up quests (pick up a random item that gives you a quest), the characters who I though were shallow and weak and the horrible anime battles (I'm not against it in some games sure, but not in a franchise where the first game tried to be more realistic, warriors jumping in heavy armor, hmpf.)

I still come to BSN to check how DA 3 will be and of what I read I will just stop dreaming of it, and just hang around at the BG part of this forum.

I still hold the memories fond - and indeed played it for a bit, trying to motivate myself to continue the second fanfic.
Unfortunately, I made the grave mistake of playing MotA, and I'm still somewhat angry about that betrayal. I defended this game, and rightfully so - but if the devs go down a checklist of what they've been accused off, only to do it all (and throw the worst mary-sue I've witnessed first hand, to this date in for good measure) - let's just say I know when my cause is lost :/

Still the same, Dragon Age 2 was a pretty fun game, but it wasn't as good as DA:O and its probably one of Bioware's least loved games (my least loved Bioware game is Jade Empire, not that I think its a bad game, but I didn't enjoy it much.)

9 months later and I'm playing Skyrim, Assassin's Creed Revelations, and posting an odd comment here on the forum. I enjoy the Dragon Age games. I personally think there are flaws in both of them.

I don't let those flaws ruin the story or the experience for me. I like the games, even if they aren't perfect. The person who expects everything to be perfect, a utopia, won't find it.

I'm going to try and get back into Bioware games with Kotor, Jade Empire, and Mass Effect again before ME3 comes out.

I spent most of the past couple of months head-down in the Witcher 2.  With it having 16 different endings, I could have gone for a few more play throughs but thought I'd give myself a break from it first with Origins and DA 2.  I've done a bit of Skyrim as well, but am saving the majority of that for my vacation..
