Any guesses on future companions?

Cassandra and Tallis are two that I really think will be companions in DA3. Both have been given their own backstories in both the game and separate media. Maybe Cullen too? I know he's a fan favorite. All three I think would work as potential love interests too.
What NPC or companion would you like to see introduced (or return) as a companion in DA3?

So my top preferences are a female tal voshoth, a talking darkspawn, Bethany, and Tallis! Please make it happen Bioware!!!
BTW Varric would be a nice addition as well

I think Charade should be a companion. And a love interest. That way my next protagonist can end up related to one of my Wardens and all of my Hawkes by marriage!
I love this!! Charade as a Companion! She could talk all about my Hawke and his LI and the wild family Solstice parties and what not
It really could be so many people though. Someone who can't have died in the previous game (like Bethany). It could be the little boy you save, Cricket, all grown up. It could be the Lia, who joined the guard. Could be anyone, really. (PLEASE LET IT BE CULLEN; I would put up with Tallis as a Companion if we could just have Cullen).
But there's the huge potential for bugs if they import someone from the previous games =\\ I almost want to avoid that.

My favorite as companion would be Orsino. Varric could just admit, that he made the Harvester thing up for dramatics and Orsino would be back in the game ;-) ... unrealistic, I know, but still... it's a wish list.

I definitely don't want any prior companions back -- I would much rather Bioware start fresh with a new game.

Anyway, back on topic.... Rhys would be pretty cool too, I think that was his name? From the new book. Especially being an "Orlesian" mage.

Go to the bottom for the TL;DR version.
So despite my love for Sigrun I don't think she can be a companion in the future. I'll also have to say no to Nathaniel. I like them both but unless Bioware decides to instill one universal canon I don't think potentially dead people work.
Now Sketch has a very good chance of being a companion. Obviously they'll need a way to make him look less ugly than his DAII version. His eyes are creepy enough, but his skin tone is completely different and very ghastly looking!
Sketch has future companion written on him due to his reappearance in DAII. Him coming back seems like a nod towards his eventual return. He is a former companion who, as far as we know, cannot die due to the choices of our character. As far as we know the assassins in DAII never kill Sketch if we don't complete the quest. Sketch could possibly just complain how he had to sneak past a group of assassins in Kirkwall or he could be grateful someone got rid of them.
He know Leliana will be an important character in the future and we may possibly run into her again. Sketch has a history with Leliana when they escaped from Denerim. I can see Bioware making Sketch a companion to allow the possibility of him and Leliana having an awkward reunion after ten years.
Cullen is another good candidate because like Sketch he has been brought back for a minor appearance in the sequel. Both are nods and winks of something to connect the stories. Cullen is a fan favorite so I can see him returning simply because of that. Although the mage/templar war details are fuzzy it seems both factions are acting on their own. The mages are rebelling outside the circles and the templars don't seem to be listening to the Chantry anymore since the Chantry Seekers are trying to stop them from going to war.
I can see Cullen joining up with our PC if we run into him fighting in the war. If we play as a Seeker there is possible tension between us. Our goal is to stop the war between Templars and mages, and Cullen possibly joined the renegade Templars. It is possible Cullen retains his anti-mage policies despite what happened in Kirkwall, and those events actually helped motivate him more to put mages in a place where they can't hurt people. It's also possible Cullen is helping the mages to redeem himself.
We know some type of change came over Cullen in the ending of DAII. We could see it when he questioned Meredith. The question is did Cullen go back to his youth where he dreamt of mages and Templars living in peace, or has Cullen decided the only way to keep mages safe is to convince them to rejoin the circle.
Basically will we have an idealist Cullen or a realist Cullen.
Now those are two who have very high chances of being companions.
Charade is another person with a high chance of being a future companion. Of course I think they may need to alter he character model so she doesn't just look like another character created NPC.
Feynriel is a unique beast. He has three destinies that can drastically alter who he is.
Abomination Feynriel: Feynriel can be a companion this way. Bioware can make it work by Feynriel's demon only having control when Feynriel is asleep due to how powerful Feynriel will is while he is awake. Feynriel laments his situation because while he slumbers the demon drifts to the dreams of others and causes chaos. Feynriel is still the same person but his personal quest can be to kill his demon in a similar fashion to how we killed Conor's demon in Redcliffe.
Tevinter Feynriel: Feynriel can be a companion this way. Feynriel is uses his powers for what he assumes is good, but is tempted by twisting the minds of men for his own childish personal gain. Feynriel doesn't initially understand the consequences and his quest can be making him understand he can't manipulate people through their dreams just because he wants something.
Tranquil Feynriel: Feynriel can't be a companion this way. Or can he? Bioware would have to expand the Somniari backstory by adding something about how a Somniari cannot truly die in the Fade. They simply enter a period of rest until something triggers their powers again.
It is possible for Bioware to keep Feynriel as a companion if they handle each of the three outcomes properly. Subtle hints and nods are all that is really needed and very different conversations based on his past.
I can't see Shiani being a companion. Shiani is not a fighter and has never shown signs of being capable in combat. The most action we've seen is her hitting someone with a bottle when they weren't looking. Also Shiani's alienage is too important to her. I can't see her ever wanting to leave her family behind. Let's also remember that Shiani is a leader. Her place as an important NPC. Making her a companion doesn't make much sense. Making Shiani would ruin her character and essentially make that if someone isn't a companion they aren't an important character. Shiani simply would not fit.
Of course I am forgetting the most important characters.
Bevin and Connor! Ha. Bevin is from Redcliffe where there is a quest that allows you to give him his grandfather's special sword. If you gave him the sword the epilogue hints that he became an adventurer and treasures the Green Blade.
Seriously though in Origins it is possible Bevin became an adventurer and by the time DAII is over Bevin will be beginning that journey. By now Bevin is a fully grown man with dreams of adventure and carving out a spot for himself in the world. He would make a nice companion as an unsuspecting youth looking for fame and glory. Last time I checked that quest involving his grandfather's sword wasn't one of the ones checked by the import so none of our choices from it made it to DAII. Bioware could just be ambiguous about Bevin's sword.
Bevin's quest could be about him trying to find his sword and giving conflicting stories on how he got it.
Conor might be a major NPC now that he is an adult. I was only joking about him being a companion though.
TL;DR
- Cullen because he's a fan favorite.
- Sketch because his past with Leliana and Leliana being a a major NPC makes him perfect as a companion.
- Charade because she simply has companion potential if Bioware gives her a unique character model.
- Feynriel because he also has companion potential though our choice in DAII should change his past. Maybe Somniari can't die in the Fade. If a Somniari dies in the Fade they simply enter a state of rest where they appear tranquil until something triggers their powers.
- Bevin the little boy from Origins who becomes an adventurer, because DAII begins at the same time Bevin becomes and adult and likely begins his journeys.
- Rhys because he is the star of the upcoming novel so obviously he's going to be important. Plus I've wanted to meet Wynne's son ever since she told me about him.
We need more companions who aren't angst filled. DAII gave me enough angst. Even Merrill had too much angst. She says she cuts herself because it gives her blood magic but I think she's just doing that thing kids do when they try to rebel against their parents.
I mean Merrill cuts herself, collects weird books, wears those long sleeve shirts that have holes to stick your fingers through, and she was sleeping with older men.
Too much teen angst.

I would prefer all new people. DA2 was horrible in bringing back npc's from Origins. Two did not fit as they had been previously seen (Merrill and Anders), one was a continuation of a half decent character that I agree did get better (Isabela). And no cameos. The cameos in DA2 were a complete joke. Start over with new everything in the character sets for companions and those we meet/interact. If it's truly a series set in the DA world...then let's see other people from that world.
Isabella was the only returning character who was done justice. I admit her love of sex was certainly empathized more in the sequel she was still similar to her original persona.
When I met her in Origins I knew that she was companion material and an interesting character.
Anders was nothing like his Awakening persona though. Completely off, and he BREAKS canon. Won't even get started on why he was a terrible choice for a companion.
Merrill was nothing like her Origins self. Origins Merrill was shrewd. She already had a personality set up. Merrill is a stickler for the rules and does everything by the book. She's wary around humans, because Dalish are not meant to interact with them. She is mostly seen as strict, but she has a kind side. Instead DAII Merrill was extremely naive and nothing like she was in Origins. The change was drastic.
You've got a point that we need to see new people. Any cameos need to make sense. Though I'm not against old character becoming companions if it fits.
If we run into Feynriel again it should be in Tevinter, Sketch can be anywhere these days, and Cullen is wherever the Mage-Templar war is.

We need to shake up the characterization of mages in DA3. Instead of idealistic, freedom-loving rebels, give us a mage who is a rich, gentleman and scholar type of high birth who is a racist towards elves, believes in absolutist government, is a slave to PR, and a terror to maleficarum everywhere. Basically, someone who wants to replace templars oppressing mages with mages in their own rigid hierarchy.
I'm all for this guy. I like the idea of someone who is very wealthy and cruel.
Though if I were designing make him I'd make him a snob, racist, believes in absolutist government, greedy, snarky, sarcastic, sexually ambiguous, richer then the Maker, self-centered, doesn't use blood magic because he doesn't want to ruin his blouse, and have his loyalty come with a price tag.

I could see DAIII having 2-3 Origins:
Mage Side, Templar Side and Seeker. (And races...Bioware, PLEASE!)
Depending on import & Origin choice (Given that it's just three, there should be more depth to them than in DAO), some of these people will join you while others will oppose you. Or, if Hawke AND the Warden are involved, you may have to pick sides?
Dunno, just speculatin' here.
