Feynriel

I forget who else I've usually said would be a companion.

Charade, Cassandra, Varric and Loghain.
With a naked, drunken Oghren riding a gorilla into battle against the Darkspawn, as he jumps over to a Mabari drawn chariot.
Fix'd
Because a naked and drunken Oghren is a must-see, even if it blinds eyes and scars people for life.

Now you need elves in your party. Hmm, don't know. Maybe Fenreil.

I think strongly we will probably see Cullen. He seems to be pissed at the way things are being done and might want to help change that. Maybe Sebastian depending on where we end up. I would love to see Jowan in there. So there's a Templar, a chantry person and a mage. Dwarf, we might see Varic again. Wich i don't mind.

Wait, so Cullen is pissed at the way the circle is handled in Kirkwall so he is going to up and leave to travel with the protagonist? If anything, he is going to be given a high position in Kirkwall for his efforts throughout DA2.

Now, who do I want?
Nathaniel. Friggin'. Howe.
I wanted Anders so badly for DA2 that I thought my husband and my roommates were going to beat me with sticks just to get me to stop talking about it. Maybe I'll get lucky and something similar will happen for DA3. Because, really, being beaten with sticks? Massively underrated.

That would be cool. But even cooler would be having Wade as a companion.

Now for a warrior character I would think Lia would be a nice choice since we 1. Never had a warrior elf in the party not counting the Warden 2. Would give us a link to DA2's Aveline and the City Elves prespective on the Mage/Templar War
I would love love love to see Lia as a Companion, but #1 is incorrect ... Fenris is a warrior elf.

Amethyne!
After the death of her mother in castle cousland she had to stand up for herself and so took to the shadows. becomeing the best fighter since Tabris him/herself.
Yay, i created a link to both the human noble and the city elf Origin!

But how about an Ash Warrior though? Their specialization would be the summoned Mabari then, so upgrading the abilities of the Khaddis or something and making them an archer with the dog would be a great change of pace.

I would be ok seeing Cassandra or Cullen but personally I want mostly new characters. Remember Bioware has said the mage/templar war may not be the main focus of DA3
I had not heard that and that kinda makes me wonder why DA2 even exsists then. A mage v templar war makes things very interesting and really the only reason I could see having Cassandra and Cullen in DA3. That war could open up a Qunari invasion which could bring Tallis back into the story. This war could also open the door for Flemeth and Morrigan to make a return, maybe not as companions but least part of the story.
Even though I do really like a lot of the characters from both games I would be ok if none of them returned. The last thing I want to have happen again is to use a save where I killed someone like Fenris only to have him return to life in the next game.

Reasonable guesses are:
A) the Qunari finally decide to get serious with their invasion (an inversion of DA2's Act 2 and Act 3, in this case),
C) Flemeth, who is mysterious enough to form a category of her own.
D) All of the above.
I'd like to see a game where you choose from the start which side of the war to support. This way, part of the (huge) cast will initially be unavailable to you (some sellout character whose class is "mage"... probably somebody from the other Circles... would necessary have to side with the Templars, for balancing reasons, just like some warriors and rogues will side with the Apostates). Some of the characters would be only available if you fight for the Templars, and some only if you fight for the Apostates. Other characters would be neutral, and be available to recruit either way. Others again would be mutually exclusive, two by two (Virmire survivor style).
At the end, all would reunite to face the bigger threat.
Siding with the Templars:
- Sebastian
- Fenris
- Carver (if Templar)
- Anders (with Justice!)
- Bethany (if Circle Mage)
- Feynriel (maybe)
- Gleam
- "Female Kossith Tal-Vashoth" (possibly Saarebas)
- Isabela
- Maraas
- Sten (possibly with a new, more unique name indicating his new role)
- Tallis
- Alistair
- "Enlightened Darkspawn" (counterpart of ME2's Legion)
- "Hero of Ferelden" (Aeducan, Amell, Brosca, Cousland, Mahariel, Surana or Tabris)
- Loghain
- Morrigan
- Nathaniel
- Oghren
- "Orlesian Warden Commander" (Andras, Caron or Kader)
- Sigrun
- Velanna
- Ariane
- Aveline
- Cassandra
- "Champion" (Hawke)
- Charade
- Jerrik (with Snug!)
- Leliana (with Schmooples!)
- Merrill
- Nyree
- Shale (as a Golem preferably, but I didn't read the book yet, so I don't know what happened to her)
- Varric
- Wynne (with Faith!)
- Zevran
Among the different origins of the Hero of Ferelden him/herself,
it's already known that only 1 out of 6/7 survived, depending on who
Duncan focused his efforts on.
Hence, similarly, three Orlesian Warden-Commanders, one for each race, could be revealed dead if the Hero of Ferelden didn't die and no Orlesian Commander was ever sent to Vigil's Keep.
The new protagonist should be totally customizable:
Female / male;
Rogue / warrior / mage;
Human / Elf / Dwarf / Kossith.
Kossith (probably as Tal-Vashoth) should only be Warriors and Mages (just like Dwarves can only be Warriors and Rogues). Heck, they could even go full circle and make a new, tiny and fragile intelligent race whose members can only be Mages or Rogues.
Note 1: some of these characters might belong in two or more groups (examples: an Amell Hero of Ferelden might be supporting Apostates and fighting Darkspawn; Bethany/Carver might take part in the civil war or be Grey Wardens and focus on the Darkspawn, instead), or might have chosen different sides already, depending on the outcome of DA2, but I just wanted to point out the roles where they fit more, thematically, and how they could fit in the plot.
Note 2: Isabela in particular is now a ship captain again. It would be amazing if she was a non-missable companion and her ship was your base of operations, which also allowed you to reach Tevinter, Rivain, Par Vollen, etc... Also, the three pirates found in Mark of the Assassin, if freed, should be part of Isabela's crew (NPCs).
Note 3: I'm assuming (again, reasonable educated guess) that not all of the Chantry will automatically side with the Templars, hence Leliana and Cassandra showing among "Others".
Note 4: Any character that might be have been killed (or made Tranquil, or otherwise incapacitated) so far should still make it in the game as an optional companion. Just give him/her a single, maybe smaller, personal quest, whereas the "main", unkillable-so-far companions can get more, or a single bigger one.
Note 5: Bisexual companions are ok, but I feel there should be at least more straight romanceable companions than bisex (you know, out of realism). And at least one or two gay companion of each gender (i.e.: not available at all to characters of the opposite sex).
Note 6: I'd like to see romance happen even between two companions, instead of always being centered on the protagonist. Aerie / Haer'Dalis started it... Bethany / Sebastian and Isabela / Fenris kept the flow going... now it's time to see some "complete" romance, instead of just hints. It could either happen behind the protagonist's back, or with the protagonist giving aid and precious counseling. A love triangle that involves the protagonist, but is not centered on him/her, would be cool as well.
Note 7: Mabari warhounds and Brontos should be class features for Rangers, instead of full characters. It would be cool if Rangers of different origins / races would get different pets.
Note 8: As interesting as the "Connor and Morrigan's son as companion" options might be, they would need to grow up to do so. That would imply the third game being set far away in the future. This is unlikely, given the ending of DA2. Also, all Human characters by then would be very old, and I'm sure we can all agree that a future where Isabela (or Alistair, or Leliana) is old and wrinkly is not something anyone would want.
Note 9: Characters like Cullen, Gregoir, Irving, Zathrian, Josmael, Stroud, etc... are bettere suited to be leaders of their own groups and "outside helps" (if they're allies at all) than actual companions, both because of their political roles and because of their lack of actual personality. Alistair might be the king of Ferelden, but I consider him an exception on account of being freakin' Alistair, aka "the most important companion in DA:O" (ex aequo with Morrigan, I guess), surely a Top 5 among the most important characters of the franchise.
Note 10: I didn't insert the cowardly (but amazing) Finn and the equally elusive Sketch, because I see them as two guys who would always choose "Flight" over "Fight". They might make for interesting NPCs, though... maybe they could join forces and open a magic shop for you! Same for Sandal and his dad... yes, there's something strange going on with the boy, but I still prefer to see him as a quirky NPC, rather than a gritty fighter covered in blood. As for Brogan... he's retarded and uninteresting... maybe get him killed by the opposed faction to convince his brother Jerrik to join you?
Note 11: Yes, I do realize Bioware said that the story of the "Hero of Ferelden" is over. However, given as my Amell crossed the Eluvian together with his lover Morrigan, and my Cousland is the freakin' queen of Ferelden together with her lover Alistair... I have serious trouble not laughing at that point of view. Maybe they might add him/her as DLC? A high level character you only get near to the end of the game, with his/her own DLC quest?
Note 12: Yes, I do realize that's 31 characters (32 with the new protagonist). I want them all.
