Well it really depends on who I enjoyed the most and and who I think is most helpful in battle, for example.
ME1=Wrex and Garrus
ME2 collector base final stage= Garrus and Miranda
ME3 I expect it will be Garrus and Ashley, but I won't know till I play.

I have several Shepards so all of my favorites will get a chance to kill Super Evil Bad Guy together with Shepard. In order of preference they are Garrus, Kaidan and Jacob. The order may change depending how cool and sexy Vega is or is not.

It'd be cute if I could fight the final battle with my favorites: Jack and Wrex \\m/ ... but that's emotional thinking, not rational.

Agree with OP, Liara and Garrus.  At least unless one of the new companions make a strong impression they might manage to replace Garrus but I find that unlikely.  Liara is a complete shoo-in for me though, being my LI.

Seriously? Kaidan and Garrus for Femshep, Male Shepard would replace Kaidan with Tali.

Seriously? As far as star wars goes I can half understand Vader but Luke? What's he going to do?? Cry at the reapers? I'd much rather have Revan and Darth Bane along to fry the reapers. Hell even Darth Zannah would be a billion times more useful than Luke.

Now regarding serious expectations in ME3 for me it has to be Legion and Tali. Legion is by far the coolest companion so far and I cannot see that changing in ME3 so BioWare had better bring him back as a full time squad member. As for Tali....well she's Tali, nuff said.
