No they aren't. Witcher is the dark fantasy game Bioware said that DA would be but couldn't get it right.

No big surprise here...I mean nothing on the market was likely to touch it, the closest overall game with enough behind it was probably Uncharted 3 (it landed itself a fair share of awards/nominations)... but really Skyrim won before it even hit shelves, I mean the Elder Scrolls series has continually grown in popularity over the last 3 games by significant amounts at each release, and they gain much praise....with good reason.

Lol... all the first Witcher did was follow the typical "dark fantasy" cliche where everyone says "****" and act racist. It ended up being more comical than anything.

Comical if you're 12. Both Witcher games spank Bioware at C&C, but you have to be an adult to recognise it. Sapkowski was writing dark fantasy before Bioware was a twinkle in EA's eye.

Didn't take long til a Witcher fanboy pops up, waving insults for whatever offense that I just have committed.
Before you get all filled with hot air, let me state that I loved The Witcher 2. Best RPG of this year even beating out Skyrim in my opinion. As you said, the C&C are NOT matched by ANY current RPG devs. \\
That said, I thought the original Witcher was average. Sure the story was interesting but whether you blame the bad voice-acting, the cliched dark fantasy, or just the multitude of fetch quests. I just felt it was good but not revolutinary.
So no need to go jumping into some negative conclusion, simply because I was poking fun at the so-called "dark fantasy" of The Witcher.

Comical, racist, cliche? I find it to be realistic for a game reminiscent of the Middle Ages and had a world that felt authentic and alive. If you think the game is racist then I really think you should stick with Dragon Age.

Never said the game was racist...
I said it followed the typical cliched idea of "dark fantasy" where people go saying "sh t" in every sentence and racism abound within the setting of the game. Combine that with bad voice-acting, it just came across as comical rather than serious.
But hey... w/e, go ahead and twist my words into something I didn't mean.

And as slimgrin said, Sapkowski was writing TW before the current dark fantasy trend started.

Can´t disacree about the acting in TW1, I ended up playing it in polish with subtitles because of it. But the Dark fantasy feel of the game is taken from the books and it adapts the setting almost to perfection. To me it felt like LotR Middle Earth felt on screen.

Playing the game in Polish is the best way. I can't really fault CDProjekt for the voice acting It's a foreign game in a bunch of different languages but like you said the world is as great as in the books and because it's based on the books it has more depth then anything DA does.

Skyrim Gamespot: 9/10
Dark Souls Gamespot: 9.5/10
If you want to go by critics. Go by Gamespot's review and their review is saying that Dark Souls is better. So Skyrim is beaten by Dark Souls and IMO, Dark Souls is leagues better than Skyrim.

Skyrim with Dark Souls combat system would be something.

I still haven't been able to find it within me to continue on with it...seems like a much degraded Fallout 3...
Skyrim on the other hand is better than its predecessor and quite a polished game. But everyone has their opinions.

Nope. The Witcher 2 is friggin amazing. The only reason why I like Skyrim better though is because it gives me so much freedom to do whatever the f*ck I want that it totally hooked me. I'm completely addicted to Skyrim and it's open-world. But The Witcher 2 has better graphics, a better story and cooler characters. Dragon Age 2 is just a piece of crap.

HA. Fallout 3 is a stripped and dumed Fallout 2. Doesn't deserve the Fallout name.

Arkham City wins it for me but I knew Skyrim was going to win this.
Doesn't matter either way GOTY is just an excuse for the devs to put all the DLC together into one package. These awards have no meaning past that.
