Sorry, we have little to say at this point. I can say that there will not be any new DLC before next year at the earliest, but can't say anything beyond that.

Why all the secrecy? Either you are planning more DLC or you're not. Why not just be open with your fans about it like everyone else?
All this top-secret cryptic style posts we're getting from Bioware is getting old.

Because they are not allowed to say anything. Also it makes sense not to promise anything, get gamers hopes up and then say it could not be done. Far better to say nothing.

As the quote attributed to Mark Twain and others state It is better to remain silent and bethought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

Errrr, hello? Do you really believe they guys at Bioware don't know whether or not they have DLC planned or working on? Trust me, they know!
Why, if other game companies can be open with their fans about their plans (even if there is nothing material yet), why can't Bioware do the same?
They are alienating their fans with this "we can't say anything" approach just as PresidentCowboy said.

I'm not sure what kind of response they are hoping for, but I am very close to simply forgetting about Dragon Age...

Your sense of entitlement is very amusing but seriously, did you think they were going to release everything at once?  Think logically for a few seconds.

Mr. Woo, I offer you my services to spread useless and misleading rumors in a credible sounding fashion to momentarily quiet those now complaining, and provide you and other site moderators the opportunity to deny repeatedly that I have anything to do with Bioware despite the large "Bioware" logo I ask you to place below my alias.

Of course they know. But it does not matter! Becuase they cannot say. I have worked in the software industry. We sign non-disclosure agreements. Which means we cannot say unless we are authorized to speak about it and when we are told we can. May it be by marketing, legal or upper managment on high. As Mr. Woo states there are many reasons why it cannot be said. And you can beg and plead till the cows come home you will not get an answer until Bioware is ready to give it.

They could be discussing potential options for DLC and may not want to promise anything. Maybe they want it to be a surprise.

Screw the policy if it doesn't work. I won't be here when they finally DO decide to give an answer.

the longer they take to release(which i agree i dont like but cant help it),if they decide to make more dlc, the more the quality of the dlc will be(hopefully) and being silent will just be that more surprising when they tell us

The first person at Bioware who violates the policy will probably be gone or severely reprimanded. So it is easy for you to say screw the policy. It won't be your job on the chopping block.

Well, Myusha, I have to admit you're getting my hopes up if this means there will be at least one less person complaining on the BSN.

@ VampOrchid -- And I want an expansion, too. HOPEFULLY next year. I doubt if it will be before ME3, though.

The policy isn't for you, Myusha. it's for us, and it deals with all kinds of announcements and topics, not just the ones you're asking for. I know it's hard to comprehend when you're on the outside dealing with us insiders, but we take things like this pretty seriously because the company takes it very seriously too.

And please, let's not start throwing the insults around. Thank you.

Would you risk your job to give a bunch of prickly online strangers a "maybe" answer that they'd take as a promise?

He'd probably loose more then his job if they decide to sue him. Not sure if it counts for corporate espionage though.

Don't worry guys. My inside source is telling me that the Bioware employees are currently holding chicken races. They're riding the chickens all the way from the top of the building to the bottom of the building.

They have to avoid dangerous obstacles like fire pits, demons, electrocuting robots, man-eating plants, and..... bunnies.

I think what Dubya and others are trying to ask(although I could be wrong) is if there is a reason to stay around here. Dragon Age 2 supporters have had to put up with a lot of crap. Those loyal to the game, who enjoy it, want to know if the sales and overall mixed reactions have finally made Bioware stick a fork in Dragon Age. The biggest disappointment, especially for those of us who love the game, is that Hawke's story will not have any closure. I think it would be better to just say, "Hey, it's not profitable, guys, to make anymore content for Dragon Age 2." At least that would be a sense of closure.

If there are going to be future products, why not just say so. And I don't mean Stanley Woo and Evil Chris. They're employees and do have to be careful what they say. But having Laidlaw or a Bioware exec give us something concrete in the near future would be nice. If they're simply not sure if they're going to release any more content, I get it. But if they aren't...say so. And if they are....why not just say there may be something coming in the near future.

I think the people who dig DA2 get crapped on by so many people on this board, they've become protective over Hawke and Co. And the silence from the devs may be coming across as waving a white flag and giving the naysayers the final word. That's my psyche 101 evaluation, anyway. ; )

I'm sure they're hard at work to see that all the choices we made in DA2 will be accurately reflected in ME3. Otherwise players' immersions will suffer when the first Reaper attacks Thedas. It is a demand of the Qun, after all.

It must be really hard to reflect the decisions of DA2 on ME3 :devil::devil:

We're not holding back information or being "cryptic" in order to mess with you guys, honest. We actually have restrictions on whether we can say anything as well on what exactly we can and can't say. Some of those restrictions may be marketing-related, some may be business-related, and some may be legal issues. Heck, some of it might even be none o' your beeswax regardless of how badly you want to know or how many times you ask/demand. Unthinkable, I know, but it does happen on occasion. :)

Personally, I think the reason for this one is to see how angry Dubya75 can get over not getting the answer he feels he is owed. To co-opt his own words, "I am very close to simply forgetting about Dubya75..." ;) (I kid, I kid... mostly.)

Haha, touche Stanley! :P

Damn right it is, it seems that wherever the words 'dragon age 2' appear an automatic flame war is the result. I just don't get it ... I truly love the game and sometimes I get the feeling I'm the only one. I just hope Bioware releases something soon and that Hawke returns, because at the end of the game I had the feeling he was about to embark on a ME-style epic trilogy that I realy would like to see finished :?.

I fixed that for you. >:D

At any rate, from my experience as a content consumer, things never go well when companies or developers of anything promise any kind of content, especially when a release date is given and has to be pushed back once or twice because of unforeseen circumstances (i.e. newly discovered bugs, staff changes, etc). They then have the misfortune to go on the internet and read people raging about how terrible they are, and (usually) how they could do better, or how the company they work for would never have such lame business practices. Although I personally would like some encouraging hints from Bioware, it's understandable that they would want to avoid all of that. And if some other company tells their fans what their devs ate for breakfast and what kind of underwear they are wearing, well good for them. They're not Bioware.

Also, paying customers are not alone in making posts like these. I've seen the exact same sense of entitlement from users of free content as well. I'll actually go as far as to say that most software developers have probably read at least one or two inflammatory threads on their project over the course of their careers, so this is nothing new to them.

In other words, you're just shouting into the wind.

While I also agree with Ned and feel the same way -- heck I have played through DA2 nine times, I think I like it enough -- until he posted, to me it seemed as if the general feeling from dissenters in this thread was that Bioware deprives their fans of information out of spite, when that is not the case.

Also -- and I mean this in a helpful way, not a critical way --, I can appreciate wanting to hang around the forums and absorb nuggets of information and have conversations about DA (especially during lulls when there is nothing new to play,) but really, if you're going to get too upset over people bashing the game, or feeling the necessity to reply to the same rehashed forums threads defending the game, just stay away. I've taken a couple of forum breaks myself for just that reason. At this point, unless Mr. Gaider responds with info on some lore thread (and I stalk his profile page for those,) or there is news, there really is no reason to come here. Most of the threads are either just repeats of older ones where the horse is long since beaten into a pulp, or so ponderously long that it takes an effort to keep up with them.

I'm fairly sure that they have 'gone quiet' to give the extremely large MMO that started early access today a chance to have the spotlight.

I even offered them cookies for news about DA and was rejected... *sniff*
