 Hi there! I'm not sure if this was discussed before (there was a link provided to a similar topic on a third party site but it was broken).
I recently intsalled BG2 SOA + TOB with no gameplay problems, except for it being very laggy. Checking my scrnshot folder later revealed 70,000+ .bmp screenshots, as if they'd been taken for every single frame that played. I tried switching to windowed mode to stop this, but it still automatically takes dozens of screenshots for every second I play.

There's no button that's stuck here, even if there were I'm required to press FN before printscrn or it doesn't work. I thought maybe the fact that I have a tablet hooked up might be the cause, but that didn't help. I tried to make the scrnshot folder read-only but alas.

I'm running Windows 7 and the 2 disc version of SOA + TOB that came with the 4 disc entire series set.

Could anyone help? :)

This problem is normally caused by one of two issues;
You have a cordless keyboard/ mouse setup< Or >You have an embedded screen-capture program like “Easy Capture Manager” (typically part of the software bundle supplied with a printer or scanner) but regardless the fix is the same... check your setting. :wub:

I have neither of these things, just a Toshiba laptop keyboard and corded usb mouse; even when that's unplugged it captures the images. I uninstalled Gadwin Printscreen and restarted, but no use. If I have any other screen capture program, I don't know how to find it, it doesn't show up anywhere.

It’s easy enough to check;
Close all the programs running on your laptop then press the “PrtSc” button once... only that one, not “Ctrl” + “PrtSc” or “Fn”.
Press the windows “Start” button & type “Paint” into the search box to bring it up... open paint and press “Ctrl” + “v” together... if you don’t see a picture of your screen then your settings are wrong.

p.s. Also please confirm that you don’t have the game installed to C:\\Program Files. :wub:

Yeah, my printscreen button is functional. I meant a third party program, I have none that relate to that as far as I know.

It was installed in Program Files(x86), so I reinstalled it to C:\\Games\\Black Isle\\BGII - SoA and I still have the problem.

You could always check your Baldur.ini file though I doubt that would work.
If problem does not affect other games then it is confined to BG2. It is like nothing I ever heard of.

Yeah I checked the .ini file but there's no setting that seems to apply to it unfortunately, at least not that's already written down. u__u Could there be a way to disable screenshots in the game altogether by adding something to the .ini file?

And it is only limited to BG2, I've played other games with no problems.

Have you got MS Office One-Note installed?

BTW, How old is this rig... are we talking Vista upgrade or a new Win7 model here?

I do not. And it's a new Win7 model.

Any other devices (wireless, bluetooth,etc) connected?

Also, does it have the usual Toshiba "added value" software? From memory, Toshiba's come with a top-panel app that gives quick access to key apps and (not certain on this) allowed you to do other things such as control what each function key did. If so, may be worth disabling this and trying the game again.

What other utilities do you have running (either showing near the system clock or under the task manager).

It seems to be a purely BG2 problem like no-one has ever heard of.
You could try a fresh install of BG2.
