I'm on Windows 7 64 bit. I boot up the game, go to load, and none of the careers show up.  The only way I can load a save is by hitting resume.  If I try to save, I can see all of the save files just fine and can overwrite them, I'm just unable to load them.

Did you move your Documents folder from the stock location or have you changed the location of the save folder at all??

Nope, I haven't moved anything. Everything is where the game placed it.

Running it as admin, and in XP compatibility mode?

Nope, Windows 7 native. I uninstalled/reinstalled everything, put my saves (downloaded and 360 converted) into the new game save folder (which is exactly where the previous folder was located), booted the game up again and came up against the same problem.

Should I force it in XP mode?

You don't need permission. Just try it out and see if it works.

I just tried running it under everything from Windows 95 to Windows Vista, I'm still not seeing the saves.

After rummaging around a bit, I found the gamersettings.ini and in the [SaveGames] section, it reads "Location=". Is something supposed to follow in this tag? I dropped the location of the drive and directories of the game saves here, but they still didn't show up, so I assume I did it wrong. Can anyone check their file and see what the string looks like, or if there's a string at all?

Mine says:

Location=C:\\Users\\(My_Name)\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect\\Save

Which is weird because those are the ME1 saves.The ini file I checked is definitely in the ME2 folder.

Weird.

I found a solution, though. After googling for the upteeth time, I stumbled upon something I missed a dozen times before that said to make another directory for the saves and toss them in there. I did that and all of the saves show up just fine. The only downside is that they all show up as belonging to the same career although they're all different. But that's better than them not showing up at all.

My gamersettings file still shows a blank, too.
