Michael Beattie won't be voicing Mordin in ME3 it seems.

I'm ok with this and almost sure it was all about the money: surely Mordin will have less lines in ME3 than in ME2 since he won't be a permanent squad member so I think BioWare offered less money and he refused.

Besides Beattie himself said this so I doubt it's just a "rumor" that Priestly is refusing to comment on (which would have been understandable).

It's illogical to believe they ditched Beattie just because. There's a story behind this that we've not been told by either BioWare or Beattie, and my bets are it comes down to money. The PLC wrote...
To be honest, Bioware is doing an extremely bad job at keeping people's worries for this game down to a minimum..
Every single time I start to believe that this game will be as awesome as Bioware says, they do stuff like this.. every time!
Everything comes down to money.
Agreed Arcian, they won't be able to please everyone Bioware has to their best with what they got,
@OP This is terrible news indeed but if they have to have some one else voice him it should be Mark Meer he did very well in the demo at E3
Dispite this news I can cope

Damn. News like this could almost make me play ME3 in default language.
If you aren't playing the default language, then how is Beattie not being cast affecting your game?

Cuz I'm french. It took me some painful file editing to play ME in english, with the amazing voicecast and all.

Not that I won't miss the awesome delivery of Mordin's original actor, I'm willing to give the new guy a shot.

I think the new one is Tara Strong. She's pretty good. I don't know who the other one is (I never watched the Batman cartoon or played the game) but you can't go wrong with Tara Strong.Vertrucio wrote...
Keep in mind, there's a new voice actress for Harlequin since the original actress that always did the voice has retired from the role. The difference is noticeable, but the new girl is just as good as the original since she was trained for it.

Well said. Tara Strong replaced Arleen Sorkin in Arkham City and I truly couldn't tell the difference. And honestly I wasn't aware that the voice actor for Mordin was a different guy until I came here and saw the raging. An unfortunate situation, but as always there are two sides to the story. Most likely down to money as others have said.

Yeah, it's like this for me too. ME3 was one of the few games ever I knew I'd buy without thinking about it. Now I'm not so sure I'm gonna buy it at all. For every piece of information released that gets me excited there is something that worries me even more, and that's just not a good measure at all.
Recasting Mordin would lessen my enjoyment in the game quite much, despite the size of his role. Most recasting does that, and I'm rather sure the change would be noticable for people who care about such things at all. If this is true I'll need a really good reason for it, or I'll be severly dissapointed in Bioware, regardless of how good ME3 might end up to be as a whole.

Agreed. Let's try, and if it doesn't work, I will switch back to the Langue de Molière (with its amazing Liara and MaleShep).
But BW, please, make a quality change. Like Blizzard did for Kerrigan.

Look I realize Mordin's role in ME3 is fairly small (likely just the one mission). But that's not an excuse to not get him back. I'm especially curious to know why since Beattie himself has stated he wished to reprise his role. If it was a schedule issue alright fine, it happens. But if this is a money issue that's not cool. I can't imagine he would ask for that much money. Maybe I'm wrong.
This is also makes me wonder who else has been replaced in the VA department. Is Martin Sheen still voicing The Illusive Man? Who else isn't returning at this point? I hate to say it but not having VAs reprise their role is exceptionally stupid for a character driven game. The VAs are the ones who really bring the characters to life. For a Developer that's always had an emphasis on voicing all their characters this is pretty sad.
Let's just hope game reviews and the general audience don't notice this sort of thing.
