Didn't he tell people to boycott the game if he wasn't in it?

Bad move on his part if he did, it might put BW off working with him in future

@purebredcorn which lies? No, it is a serious question, I'm interested

Anyway, I heavily suspect that this is not the last VA remplaced. Yvonne Stahovski is my main concern now. We'll see.

I just heard Beattie as Mordin in a beta leak in the Kirrahe thread.

That wasn't Beattie in the Beta. And he has said in several e-mails that he hasn't done any VO for Mordin in ME3.

I just watched this again, and I can still remember how psyched I was when I saw Mordin walk into the frame. I'd been up all night with nothing better to do but get hyped with everybody in Phaedon's ME chatroom, waiting for the live stream to start.

I was already excited, so when my favorite Mass Effect character- one of my favorite characters of all time- strolled onto the screen, I couldn't help but smile. Mordin was back, and I, among others, was ready for another slice of hyperactive salarian brilliance.

His voice sounds different. This registered in my mind immediately.

It's a decent impostor, it's a good placeholder, but I'm glad he won't sound like that when I play the game. Until the recent damning confirmations, this issue had been cast from my mind, and I wish it could've stayed that way, because

A. to me, that Mordin's voice had not been the same was obvious to hear, so I was hesitant to draw a premature conclusion about what we all thought was a makeshift solution. In short, I wasn't going to ****** all over the forums about something we all thought was temporary.

B. I had convinced myself that Mordin's real voice actor simply had yet to be brought in for sessions, and that good justification for recasting one of the series' most beloved and critically acclaimed characters did not and could not exist.

Some time later, an article claiming confirmation that Beattie had been replaced appeared on TheGamingLiberty.com. This caused some backlash from fans who called the confirmation premature, I tended to agree, and the article was eventually changed to a less decisive tone. At worst, I felt like we didn't know one way or the other, but I held to my belief that Beattie would reprise the role, because, in the back of my mind, I could not get over how incredibly stupid it would be for talent as essential to the character as Beattie had been to get dropped for what will be Mordin's final outing.

Now that it's happened, I'd like to put succinctly what should not be a revelation at this point:

This sucks.

I just read that article. Wow, that does not sound good at all. This is not the time to be saving money, BioWare =S

Any reason to doubt if Strahovski is in, aside from "if one goes, perhaps more go"? Not meaning to call you out on anything, I'd understand the concern. I just wonder if it's more than ordinary concern and you have any actual real reason to fear so.

Wow, that's terrible. It's as if Mass Effect 3 isn't Mass Effect in a way, but some clone from another universe.

Maybe if they had used the money for multiplayer on an increase in Beatties wage...evidence for SP suffering for MP?

I honestly don't think i'll be able to like Mordin anywhere near as much if he has a different VA, it simply wouldn't be him. I just hope we get some kind of official statement soon to stop all of the speculation and so we can attempt to get our heads around Bioware's decision.

Didn't you notice that around half of Mordin's dialogue wasn't even an actual person but text-to-speech? Or notice how the stuff that wasn't lacked the distinctive salarian pitch-shifting?

Hopefully Bioware will come to their senses, or have the new VA sound EXACTLY like Beattie. I can picture people being so consumed into the game through their character's eyes and then when they arrive on Sur'kesh that concentration is broken because all they're thinking is "That's not Mordin, that's not Mordin, who is this imposter?!". Least, that's how I will react -.-

We all want him back. I bet BioWare won't even have the courtesy of talking to us about it. They will say something about the new guy doing great, or they had a great run with Beattie, or they haven't announced the cast list yet, or blah blah blah. I'd have more respect for them if they would talk to us more openly, rather than ever-positive tones that sound like they come right out of a scripted panel trying to sell Mass Effect 3 and shadow its flaws, even to fans who deserve the answers.
