Ah, what a load of c#$%.

Seriously, Bioware? Cameo or not, it's still a pretty d#$% move to replace someone as awesome as Mordin. Meer just don't do it for me, he's Shep damnit, not Mordin, I can't hear Shep everytime I watch that damned demo video.

I sent tips to Joystiq and Game Informer this morning. I occasionally write articles for Archetype, too, so I will cover that bit on my own.

I was thinking of sending a news tip to GI but I wasn't sure if putting down this page's URL would be a good enough source.

I believe these are all the sources worth sending.

Original thread, complete with screenshots of emails from Beattie - http://social.biowar...index/8808777/1

Twitter status from Bioware employee claiming recording is done - https://twitter.com/...539523978756097

Video containing quotes from critics on voice acting and clips from game -

You could also send the fan petition (not that it will work, but it could bring the issue more attention if it is spread around) - http://www.ipetition...s-mordin-solus/

Tried sending a tip but there was an error. Tried it again but there wasn't a confirmation that it was submitted successfully so I'm not sure if it worked or not.

Yeah I tipped off a few IGN editors (dunno if they'll take note or not) - They're all massive ME2 fans though as we know from all the praise they give it (both the website and the editors personally). I believe Mordin also won many character awards over at IGN in the end of year awards. I remember them praising all the characters, but in particular Mordin and certainly held him to the highest esteem in the review and following articles etc . So I'm sure they'll be interested to hear they're favorite characters voice is being replaced!

Oh, how could they do this? Then again, they are not obligated to tell us anything. I daresay they found another person to provide the voice.

Sometimes, changes of voice actors are for the best. I liked Triss's new voice actress in The Witcher 2 more than her voice actress in The Witcher.

It isn't a gamebreaker, but it takes something big to get me upset and this pulled it off.

I was rewatching the original trilogy of SW the other day, and I couldn't help but wonder what the reaction would be if certain characters were recast. What if Anthony Daniels was replaced as C-3PO in ROTJ? Would life be the same as we know it?

Dagger! Mordin was probably the most entertaining character in any video game I've played, largely because of the VA.

You won't be (and aren't) alone in that.

I would be surprised if IGN don't run with it, they were one of the more vocal supporters of Mordin from what I recall. He made their top character lists and got mentioned in the review etc.

Numerous professional reviews made special and repeated mention of Mordin and Beattie's splendid performance. It was something I noticed kept coming up. He's a critical gem.

Mordin was certainly my favourite character introduced in ME2.

Hell, Bioware's own advertising made special and repeated mention of Mordin when promoting Mass Effect 2. This whole thing still confuses me.

I'm gonna go with BioWare simply not caring anymore.

I think jreezy's on the money. They decided there were more marketable elements and abandoned a few earlier marketing staples along the way. Most of the VAs will be back; I suppose that was deemed good enough.

Since they haven't given any explanation, I'm leaning towards that interpretation. I still find it odd that they get the VAs of minor characters like Emily Wong to return, but they don't bother with Mordin.

Emily Wong's voice actress probably wanted to return without being demanding at all concerning pay.  Since Mordin's voice actor wanted to return (he said so himself), the only logical conclusion is that he asked for too much money, more money than Bioware was willing to part with for a side character.

So it's not that they "didn't bother," it's more like they don't care enough to pay him.

From ME1 to ME2 it was virtually flawless. There's a new voice over director though, and she may have decided a few roles could slide. It still sounds like it will be a very good retention rate as far as game series go but not at the same level as before.

It bothers me; this is partly what I'm pursuing for a career here. I keep a keen ear to these things where others will find it all irrelevant so long as their Shepard sounds right to them.

Of course, that presumes that logic is driving the decisions for ME 3. I can only hope.

Last I've heard, he says he hasn't been contacted by Bioware about reprising the role.

And the not being contacted appears to be as recently as the 24th, which is weeks past Ms. Livingstone announcing voice acting had been completed. By now Mr. Beattie is likely tired of telling people he doesn't know anything.

Isn't it obvious? Ashley's armor is the culprit. They had to cut content to free up resources to implement it.

They might have gone for an older, dying kind of voice for an aging Mordin and felt Beattie couldn't pull it off. I feel that's a disservice to his potential range and I would feel kind of insulted, personally, but it is a valid possibility, I think.
