Michael Beattie won't be voicing Mordin in ME3 it seems.

Yeah, I'd say barring a miracle it's a done deal.

If the recent Bioware Pulse on VA had a snippet where you see Caroline Livingstone talking to Michael Beattie. Imagine the reaction...

A response from Bioware is all we are asking for. Not sure why they do not.
It's a policy on the forums that they won't comment on rumors.
It's that or Bioware is afraid that sales will tank upon confirmation.

I just wrote Michael Beattie an email asking him if he has any idea why he was not contacted to do the voice over for Mordin Solus. I will post his reply here if and when he answers me.
Several of us have already spoken with him, one of us as recently as a couple of days ago. He's very kind and will likely reply to you, but he doesn't know either.

The cast will be revealed in February. Maybe they can dicuss Beattie's exclusion then.MordinKrios wrote...

That's a total shot in the dark, and I have no way of knowing, but I can't believe a scheduling conflict is to blame when the game was in production for over two years. Especially since Mr. Beattie has stated his desire to reprise the role of Dr. Solus.
Furthermore, if an offer was never extended (as Mr Beattie has said), then Mr. Beattie wanting too much money ala Alan Cumming in X-Men 3 (sorry for the continued Marvel movie references) couldn't be the problem either. So that explanation's out the window as well.
I can only surmise from the information available thus far, that someone at Bioware has deemed Mr. Beattie to be more trouble than he, and the complaints of we the fans, are worth.
To quote Dr. Solus, "No proof, but theory fits evidence." ...I think I got that right...

Why would sales tank over a voice actor for an NPC? That is just highly unrealistic. The only people who really care are the uber geeks on this forum that pay attention to that stuff. Most people who will be buying this game don't know who the voice actors are, or, they couldn't care less.
I played both 1 & 2, loved them, post on this forum, etc... And, I didn't know who voiced most of the people. I only really knew of the big names like Sheen and Seth Green. I didn't know Mordin's until I read this thread.

That's a real shame. He was awesome as Mordin. The new guy has his work cut out for him.
Haha... I would ALMOST be happy if it wereTHIS guy: www.youtube.com/watch
Though I'm not sure he could give Mordin life, he could definitely convey the frentic nature of him.

I doubt they just "ran out of money." ME3 is a big title and I'm sure has been given Bioware plenty of money to get it done right.
Besides, Michael isn't a big name who would demand lots of money. I wouldn't be surprised if he asked for more since his portrayal of Mordin actually won an award, but I'm sure he still wouldn't demand THAT large a salary.

I'm interested in voice actor retention because I'm in school for voice acting.
Congrats on that. It is a field I would love to participate in myself. I took a class in it not too long ago. Always looking to network.

Seth Green finished his stuff back in July, he only had 3 sessions anyway. Tricia indeed was recording till late November and Raphael Sbarge (Kaidan) had the last session of all actors on December 7th or something like that.scyphozoa wrote...
I think Seth Green and Tricia Helfer have tweeted they were finishing up their voice work weeks or months ago.

It's frustrating not knowing why this is happening, and to the series' best voice actor no less.
So true.
