It's frustrating not knowing why this is happening, and to the series' best voice actor no less.

So true. Image IPB

They aren't going to say anything until the official list is out in next month.

I wonder if they'll give a satisfactory response. Replacing Michael Beattie is stupid enough but I hope they had a good reason for doing so.

What reason would be good enough? No reason would be good enough to justify such a stupid decision.

You've stated my deepest thought concerning this situation actually, I didn't want to say it though.

Well, that's what I'm here for! I'll happily be vocal (loud) about concerns and logical viewpoints such as these! Especially when it comes to highlighting the big and little things in quality degradition, what appears to me the downfall of the Mass Effect series! Since I don't have OriginSpyware scanning my tax files and locking me out of my purchased property, I'm not afraid of a forum ban (not saying you are, just stating my own opinion on the matter)!

I guess Microsoft Sam will also have starring roles in Mass Effect 3 as well.

Challenge accepted.

edit: I could see Joker pranking EDI by changing her voice synthesizer to Microsoft Sam.

If they had a good reason, they wouldn't have been so damn silent about it. They know damn well that if it's due to budget reasons and thinking they can just get a cheap replacement, fans will throw a fit. Especially when so many fans believe certain additions to ME3 have been a waste of time, effort and money.

The VA list is under lockdown until it's officially released.
Good or bad, we won't know until they release that list.

Bioware likes to refuse comment on anything that could possible be negative even in the slightest. They will let fans ask for months without comment. There was the DA2 Mod tools issue, ME3 Origin thread where they said "Hey guys we'll find out" and then never got back to us, and now this. If Bioware refuses to respond to something, you can usually expect the worst.

Very true, like with that Bioware employee shamelessly promoting DA2 scandal, or when Arrival hit, and the vast majority of both fan and critic reaction was "WTF?" Bioware remained silent. They even had the audacity to post on ME2's page Destructoid's ONE good review of Arrival.

Which is why I thought it was hilarious when... I believe it was Ray Muzyka, said that one of Bioware's defining traits was its "Humility."

All I want is for them to be transparent. In my eyes, I respect a company who admits to a mistake or a bummer but does there best much, much more than a company that tries to hide it or pretend their faults don't exist. Deceiving their fans isn't the right path.

Come on, Vertigo, you need to get out of your Chamber of Denial once in a while.

As for Beattie's replacement: Leak Mordin sounded horrendous. That's all I'm gonna say about that. :/

Like Lionhead; people criticize and demonize poor Molyneux, but try finding another person so open and honest about his mistakes, and after being in the business for so many years, still so active and passionate.

They probably do it because he's infamous for not following in on his promises.

Oh look, its you again, how sweet. And that was my point; he's someone (Very much like his team.) who has made numerous mistakes regarding the games they've developed, and yet have no problems admitting, and trying to rectify them. Simple.

They can admit to whatever they want. Saying you're going to do something, then not doing it is not following in on a promise.

*Sigh*

MadLaughter said he/she wanted a company that admitted to their mistakes, I gave an example; Lionhead. Its a very simple concept, and does not require you to badger me, What the hell is your problem?

Well here is Mr. Beattie's response to my email asking him if he has any idea of why he was not contacted by BioWare to reprise the role of Mordin Solus. I received it at 8:04 PM MST today.

Hey James,

Thanks for the kudos for my work as Mordin in ME2!

You are correct - I had a blast voicing Mordin -some great writing, such as is not often seen in video game scripts.  Great dialogue writing , a fun, quirky character -but with depth as well....3 dimensional if you will.  I think Mordin is a character that has 'legs' -huge potential for more stories.....and no one else but me should be playing him! (...sorry, that slipped out......;o))

Other than that, I can't really comment beyond what I've already said.... which is probably frustrating and boring to everyone by now (...sorry!) , but here I go again:

"As of this writing I have not recorded any dialogue for Mass Effect 3, nor do I have a contract to do so."

Also, please pass on my thanks to your fellow gamers for all the passion and support for my work.  I respond to emails whenever I can -sometimes I miss a few -but they are all read and much appreciated!

Here's hoping the gamer/fan campaign to have me return is successful!

Until then, I'm off to practice some agrarian xeno science studies (  ..aka clean up the backyard.....;o))

Kind regards,

Michael Beattie
michael@michaelbeattieVO.com

As Jeffzero said, he himself does not know. I don't want to speculate too much about this or make any conclusions that are wrong, but his saying that "I can't really comment beyond what I already said" tells me that he does know the reason, or thinks he knows the reason, as to why he wasn't contacted, but it would not be prudent or appropriate for him to say.
