Lionhead is a terrible example and a terrible company.

They wouldn't have things to apologize for if they could follow up with their pre-release promises.

Lionhead would be the prime example of why a company should not make too many promises before they release their product.

Oh hey, you're back.  Its a "terrible," example, because to put it simply, you want it to be; it clearly defined what Mad was talking about, and that fact that they "Wouldn't have things to apologize for," is so far from the point of our posts, that I'm wondering why you brought it up.

And I agree with Hellbound; its not the new VA's fault, and I think if any of us were given the chance to voice someone as interesting and lovable as Mordin, we'd jump at the chance too. Or at least, I would.

Read Sofia's post.

That's why it's a terrible example.

They're apologizing because they're terrible at PR.

I did read the post, and again, that wasn't the point of mine, or Mad's. The point (One you seem intent on missing.) is that they admit their mistakes. The fact that they make them, and the reasons why they make them were not/never have been the point.

This thread didn't need to be created anyway.

I guess there was a subtle hint for Mordin dying on me regardless of everyone being loyal during the SM. Maybe I should redo the SM and let Mordin die. That way I don't need to worry about why Mordin sounds different.

Fine by me; I just can't stand not being clear, or people refusing to let me be as such.

EDIT: This will be my final post on this thread, considering Lemon's inability to shut up and pay attention. Beattie will be missed, but its not like ME is his only gig, I'm sure he and his stunning blue eyes will pop up again soon.

An apology from Lionheart is about as heartfelt as an apology from a serial killer for murdering your entire family.

I've learned from an interview with a VA (Nolan North I think) that they normally get paid to do a certain no. of sessions and characters as a package of some sort. I think it's probably EA's attempt on saving a few bucks.

Now I guess, it's goodbye.

Here is a 20 minute interview of Beattie concerning his role as Mordin in Mass Effect 2 just in case anyone is interested.

We'll find out when the Beta releases, I suppose. I can't stand the re-casting of characters; the changing of Michael Wincott to Terrance Stamp for the Prophet of Truth between Halo 2 and Halo 3 still annoys me to this day, especially since the former was utterly brilliant.

Come on, Vertigo, you need to get out of your Chamber of Denial once in a while.

As for Beattie's replacement: Leak Mordin sounded horrendous. That's all I'm gonna say about that. :/

Considering most of Mordin VA's is done by text to speech program in leaked Beta, this complaint is ridiculous.

There's something he's not telling us. I refuse to believe (even though it is perfectly possible) that BioWare has gone full retard and decided to not rehire M.B when they've rehired EVERYONE ELSE, in addition to the character being vastly popular.

The way I see it, the only logical reason for all this is that he made a request they had to refuse, or that they made an offer he had to refuse, or that he's trying to cash in on the character's popularity and our anticipation for his return, or he's actually been hired a long time ago but he's intentionally misleading and sweating us as some kind of sinister practical joke that BW's in on to create buzz, considering that Mordin one of ME2's most memorable elements and likely one that a casual fan is likely to remember and look back at with fond memories.

F**k. I just want some goddamn answers from someone.

Yeah, this.

Also, Sam Hullick also was saying for long time he's not composing ME3 music and yet he's doing; and from the sound of it, for long time.

:P I don't think he's speaking about the text-to-speech Mordin.

I actually think the replacement V/A in the Beta does a pretty decent attempt at playing him, it's just knowing that he isn't MB and hearing it in his voice makes it glaringly obvious... and highly irritating. Mordin is the hardest character to try and emulate, and I think the replacement does a pretty decent job, but no one can do Mordin like Michael Beattie....

I mean... voice Mordin. Yyyyeah..

^What wasn't text to speech with Mordin in leaked Beta is kinda bad since he didn't really tried, but it's obvious placeholder VA.

Voice acting was always in high quality in Mass Effect games.

If the beta Mordin VO was pitched just a slight bit higher, I wouldn't have noticed.

this is sad news. Though I haven't heard the new guy, I personally can't stand a recasting of a charecter in movies or games. Iron man and Iron Man 2 astounded me because not only was the guy different but it was like a complete change. Yes I know in that case it was because the actor in IM1 was a pain in the a** but still. From what I hear MB is a very nice guy and seems very down to earth so I can't think of any resone to recast him. This is a triple A game if its a money resone that shouldnt be a issue, not really at least.

P.S. I don't think its money either.

I wonder what the cost comparison is between casting Michael Beattie as Mordin in ME3, and including the useless multiplayer cram-on.

I honestly didn't notice in the previews. Sad that Beattie won't be in it but if they get a good imitator and retain the same writers I don't think we'll even notice.

I also would like to know this.

and evan if he did ask for more money he kinda deservered it after winning a award for his role as Mordin.
