But yes, BioWare and EA need to come clean on this issue immediately.

Well, as much as we might like them to explain what was behind the decision, they don't "need" to do anything.

Actually I think they do because with all the other issues EA has going on(Origin and all that) their reputation is going down in flames and soon enough all these other smaller issues will keep piling up and actually hurting their sales severely. They do need to start sorting things out starting with some of the smaller and more limited issues like this one, which will only largely impact the most dedicated Mordin fans.

I'll be honest - I don't think they are too worried about the tiny fraction of their fans that are Mordin fans...I don't even think thats 1% of their customer market.

While that may be true, even 1% of their fanbase adds up to a lot of money and when you start having issues adding up the 1% here and 2% there and 10%+ if they go on with Origin as it is they're going to feel the burn whether they realize it now or not.

Thing is - changing a VA for a character who isn't exactly...legendary. Not to bash Mordin but it's not like they replaced Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. It's also:

Us: "You killed my father, you son of a ****"
Them: "I did? Well...for me that was Tuesday..."

Origin needs to be explained. But recasting someone isn't going to be EAs downfall. The reason may have been to save someone elses voice actor. Maybe Yvonne Strahovski was asking too much...

No single issue is but when you start ignoring issues out of hand they add up rather fast and to painful effects.

Beattie is but one actor in one game. I don't know how many games EA produces a year but it's a lot. Truthfully, BSN is a rather VERY small percentage that they need to hold on to especially considering ME is coming to a conclusion.

Mordin was one of ME2's most popular new entries. Many reviewers commented specifically on Mordin being a standout character and favourite, particularly with the infamous song he performed. And Beattie was instrumental in that, providing many of Mordin's vocal nuances and mannerisms. I'd actually say that Mordin's voice actor returning is more important in that regard than most other characters, as Mordin was very much defined by his way of speaking.

Meh so what?

Mordin was pretty cool but I didn't think he was that special.

I still want to see FemShep in the collectors edition hoodie, and the FemShep trailer.

In fact wasn't  there some released footage of Mordin from one of the beta videos? He didn't sound any different to me in that video, that I can't remember where I saw.

I have to agree, the beta Mordin sounded very similar to Beattie!Mordin. It'd be nice, if he came back but I'm not gonna rage or sob about it.

I find it strange that so many people say this.  The beta-leak Mordin mostly didn't have the pitch-shifting applied, so didn't even sound like a salarian, much less a specific VA with salarian effects.  Also, at least half the dialogue from Mordin in the leak was a generic male text-to-speech "actor".

Alternatively, alternatively...maybe Mordin's new VA will be even better than Beattie? How about no one freaks out till they play the ga- oh wait, this is BSN.

There's what we KNOW and what we don't....

What we know: Michael Beattie as Mordin is epic
What we don't: some other dude as Mordin being half way to decent

If the new actor was better all BioWare had to do was release a sample and blow everyone away.....their silence is failing to convice or reassure me.

Bioware told Beattie to lie, in order to troll the fanbase.

or maybe bioware wants us to think that they did that so some of us wont drop the game for having mordin as a different voice actor.

Very much agree on this.  Mordin's VA is certainly more crucial than most of ME2's VAs.

If he hasn't gotten a contract or anything then it's probably not happening.

Same here, I have know idea why people say his voice sounds simliar in the beta. Because it doesn't even come close. Also I still think that Beattie will Voice Mordin till either Bioware says he won't be returning or Mass Effect 3 comes out and shows that Beattie didn't voice Mordin.

Um guys...this isn't a big deal, and seeing as how the ME2 squadmates are being demoted to cameos anyway does it really matter if you won't get what's his face to voice mordin?

I'm sure they have bigger concerns on their plate. Honestly I like Beattie, but a change in VA for a character that is likely to only have a minor role in 3 doesn't even come close to my biggest fears for the game.

But his role isn't even that minor. Granted he likely won't say as much as he did in ME2, but it's still a fairly meaty and important role from what I can gather.

If it's like the script, then no it's really not.  It's just for the Salarian mission and a few scenes afterwards.

I have major concerns about this as well.....Mordin and Legion had better make permanent squad members in ME3 or I'll be insanely pissed. The romances are just about guaranteed to make permanent returns so that's 8 plus the new dude, Vega or whatever his name is so that's 9 so far we can pretty much count on I think. That doesn't leave a lot of room assuming the party still caps at 12 which is likely given that we still have an SR2 and we didn't get a new larger ship.
