I like Mordin. It's so sad that I I'm gonna have to kill him off now.

How does the most talkative squadmate in the entire series get a VO replacement? *sigh* Whether Mordin is your favorite character or not, I think most everyone can agree that he was one of the more enjoyable characters to listen to whether it was on the Normandy, on missions, or on his own outstanding loyalty mission.

There will never be another Mass Effect 3. There will never be another end to Shepard's epic journey along with all of these characters. I really hope Bioware and Beattie continue to work on whatever differences there may be so that Mordin's voice is done justice... because there won't be another opportunity, and the fans deserve nothing but the best for this finale.

Bioware doesn't seem like a studio that would drop a voice actor for no reason, so there must be something Beattie isn't saying.

I loved Mordin's voice in ME2, but with some techno-stuff they can probably make his voice sound incredibly similar in ME3. It may not be quite the same, but it ain't the end of the world.

Mordin is getting old - maybe Salarian voices, like ours, change with age.

Maybe its nothing to do with money, maybe it's ***Insert random buzzword***

Look at Dragon Age 2, Greg Ellis voiced Anders in DA Awakening, but Adam Howden voiced Anders in DA2, even though Greg Ellis was already contracted to providing VO for DA2!!!

And its not just Bioware, Blizzard changed the VO for Kerrigan from Glynnis Talken-Campbell in Starcraft to Tricia Helfe in Starcraft 2!

So who knows the reason...

I'll be pissed if it turns out they replaced Beattie with some semi-celebrity.

"Just in!! Micheal Beatttie replaced by Felicia Day!!!"

Bah! That webseries was bad enough, now they're putting her in DLC just so I wouldn't buy it. :P

I also found it disturbing that at last year's VGAs they only nominated celebrities (inclusing Felicia Day) with the exception of Jennifer Hale who is actually good enough to make it on a list with wonderful voice actors such as Daniel Craig and Kristen Bell (sarcasm test completed). Tricia Helfer won that year for her performance in StarCraft II. While her performance was decent enough it wasn't worth any awards. And Neil Patrick Harris won in some Spider-Man game because he was Doogie Howser once. :crying:

That's why I can't take the VGAs seriously. They think a voice performance is good because the actor is famous. Yesterday in the Graham Norton Show Antonio Banderas said it amazes him they picked him to do a voice in Shrek even if he has a heavy accent.

I know this might get locked because it belongs in the support group and all but folks should IMO be aware of this:

Michael Beattie has likely been replaced as Mordins VA in ME3:

(since I emailed him AFTER the tweet went out that VO recording for ME3 was done just to check on him)

Right Click => View

No contract and no recording done.

It would also be nice to get some response from Bioware on this.

Image IPB sad face lol

Love Mordin. This is very sad news. Thing that worries me even more is that there doesn't seem to a be a reason why Beattie isn't coming back. If it is financial then this could be the thin end of the wedge regarding ME3.

I killed him before this replacement was even considered. /hipster glasses on

In 3 of my 12 Sheps.

Don't plan to change that since it's ridiculous to do it just for this.

Though I do think you're being sarcastic.

Well obviously there's a reason.  We just don't know what it is.

Ah...one of the bigger polls. Set the limit at 170, and we'd have:
*Ashley/Kaidan
*Garrus
*Legion
*Liara
*Miranda
*Mordin
*Tali
*Wrex

Eight - just like ME3's going to have. Narrative concerns aside, if that team hadn't satisfied 99.9% of the fanbase I don't know what would have. You even have two among them who are guaranteed to be alive.

I'd love that squad. Though I have to say that it'd have impossible to do it with the SM and the possible death of all of those ME2 character plus Wrex.

I think ME3 should be VERY hard on the Sheps that didn't look after their squads. I've played both ME1 and ME2 well over 20 times each and always looked for the perfect outcome and I never lost a squad member since my 2nd playthrough, having lost Thane and Samara in 1st. There is zero room for excuse so if a save cannot be imported due to too many squad deaths so be it.

And yes those 8 would be perfect for me but I'd be OK even if they only took the top 6: Tali, Garrus, Legion, Liara, Wrex & Mordin. The rest can get the spartan boot to the chest no problem.

Well, for my current ME2 Let's Play I'll just use him for every mission just do to that.

He will die in SM, but that's because it's the worst import for ME3 and that was decided way back.

And why can't Bioware just full out say "Michael is still or is not voicing Mordin". First the PS3 rumors, then MP, now this, lol. I understand that they get more press or whatever because of rumors but they tend to ****** off fans more, at least from the way I've viewed these forums over the last few months. To keep delaying news, especially one concerning an important character to many, is just going to hurt them in the long run, IMO.

Considering Mordin only really has a cameo and won't be joining the party, I think it makes sense. It would save alot ofmoney this way.

You'd think that's what they made BioWare Pulse for. Instead of actual "news" about the game they show gameplay over and over and over again.

Edit: And then they wonder why the fans get pissed off when we find something out third hand by a VA or magazine.

They won't answer this because they usually release their entire VO list at the same time. Which is like a month before release.

Voice acting was done few days ago and Micheal Beattie confirmed he was not called at all.

I only plan to kill him on a few playthroughs, not every single one. I want to see his disaterious new voice (if Beattie has indeed been replaced) for myself at least once.

Why would you think that? It's obviously for promotional purposes, not journalism. And announcing that a well-liked VA isn't returning doesn't really work too well as a promotional tool.

I know that. I meant it as a response to those who are asking different variations of "why cant bw just say he's not back"

This would have been the best squad ever made for ME3 and I completely agree, Darth

It would be interesting to see (if there was a way to do this) a poll of ME3 players that also played ME2, that are not part of the social.bioware site, if they preferred the VA of Mordin on either ME3 or ME2, or even ask them if they knew the difference.

This news really only effects us, on the social forums, because we frequent here (for the most part) daily. We are in the know... sorta speak. But for those players of ME who do not come to these forums at all (and its quite substantial compared to us) they probably have no clue who the VA is or if that VA is going to be changed and I have a strong suspension that they may not even notice.

Hopefully things will work out for the better because BioWare has stated two things about the leaked script that we can only hope are true:

1) The leaked script was outdated and had had already sustained changes by the time old one was leaked.
2) They weren't done making changes to it and would considder feedback to make furthe changes.

We can only hope that all these weren't lies to diminish negative feedback and calm the discussions about it. Time will tell but I think that there may yet be hope....not having called Michael Beattie to record could mean they are frantically working on expanding his role and rewriting his dialogue...after all the game probably doesn't go into mass production for distribution untill sometime in January....although it seems unlikely as the game should be about done by now and they should be cleaning it of bugs for release.

The best hope is for the leaked file to be extremely out of date and to have sustained massive changes making most of what we read irrelevant by the time they were out.
