I can't access the map on my mission computer. Everything else is highlighted in blue. The map tab is gray.

In the manual on page 2 it has a reference to the map tap. I can not access the map tap. it is grayed the other sections are actually yellow not blue. I'm suppose to be able to see the Medical facility part of awakening. It does come up. When I progress to the Freedom's progress Colony I'm unable to access that map as well. I should be able to see a colony map. Need help.

Standard gameplay mechanic.
If you've paid attention to the tutorial on Freedom's Progress you will know you are prompted to use the analogue sticks to bring up the mission objective mini-map. That's all you have access to during fights.
The map screen you are trying to access is only available during non-combat sections.
As such, there is no-one here that can grant you what you seem to want.
