Basically I'm curious about those who decided to "cheat" on their ME1 LIs with new LIs from the second game... my question is, if you are forced into some kind of confrontation in ME3 where, say, you have to choose between Ashley and Miranda/Liara and Tali/Kaidan and Garrus, etc. who would you choose to stick with/go back to, and why??

EDIT: Like many others, I don't personally see ME2 romances as "cheating" if you had an LI in the first game... Death generally equals the end of the relationship. I'm only using the term Bioware used :P hence the quotation marks.

Miranda 100%, tried to consider Liara even as I played LOTSB............failed miserably.

She is probably one of the best female characters I've seen in an RPG game, she's gorgeous, badass, and contributes inmensely to what makes Mass Effect so great in regards to the whole "Idealism Vs. Pragmatism" deal, specially if you play a mostly paragon Shepard like I do.

No guys, it's not just "dat ass"

Doesn't ME3 also retcon same sex relationships into the earlier games? It's gonna be kinda confusing.

In my canon run, I didn't even cheat. Consider THAT roleplaying.

Booyah.

Not necessarily a "retcon", you can still be a bisexual Shepard.

Good for you, because it's not even cheating at all

Not true! It's considered cheating when Kelly feeds my fish. I didn't know doing that could be so... orgasmic.

Even though Miranda is quite the woman, I decided to stick with Ash. Kind of glad that I did after reading the info from LotSB! lol

After I met Miranda, I realized Ashley, no matter how much I like her, had always been a second choice for an LI. Perhaps one of my maleSheps will go back to her, but most will stay with Miranda for all the reasons listed in the OP of the Miranda thread.

And I don't understand why Miranda's LotSB dossier would make anyone stay away from her.

So you want your Shepard having babies with Ash?

Ashley: Not sure, if I ...
paragon: ... should love you for that ...
renegade: ... or shoot you right now.

Last statement makes only sense if you want your Shepard having kids with his LI. Miri can't have children. Maybe the Hanar can fix her :)

Besides that, in my case it's the other way around: Ash is my primary choice, Miri my secondary. My Shep doesn't cheat on Ash, but will try to get a playthrough without romanced Ash + romanced Miranda. Guess you should try Ash!LI at least once, from ME1 -> ME2 -> ME3 without cheating - for full experience.:)

It's only a retcon if you decide it's a retcon for your Shep. Certainly isn't for mine considering he romanced no one and never claimed any interest in women.

Depends on what they do with Miranda. Either I'll stick it out to the bitter end or say goodbye and move to BW's new and improved ME3 female LI. <_<

No way in hell my Shep is going back to Liara though. Illos was a one night stand because he was grieving over Ashley's death on Virmire and Liara's legs were open.

Edit: And during the infamous "locker scene" I told Liara to screw herself and she's the one that insisted with coming on to Shep anyway.

Ouch - that's some sad roleplaying ^_^

So your canon!Shepard sacrificed his lover on Virmire and did Liara to get over Ashley's death?
No second playthrough with Ash saved?

Yeah my Alternate Shepard (I only have 2 I take seriously) is a Spacer/Survivor/Sentinel and picked Ash on Virmire and remained single in ME2 (not even Kelly). I did it because I liked Ash so much and her story arc was believable.

Though the first one is my canon.

Yep, same for me: first playthrough is "canon", especially since it did happen without guides and such. Dunno if I did all necessary quests ... will see in ME3.
However, in none of my playthroughs (so far) I ditched Ashley after Horizon. Loyal dog is loyal. I need at least one playthrough with unromanced Ash for Miranda ... just to find out how her romance plays out.

None of my shepards have a ME2 love interest exept for Kai or Liara :D No need for "cheating" issues to pop up.

I dropped Ashley the second I got Jack. That's my main Shepard, and if there's a confrontation where I have to choose, I choose Jack easily.

My main femshep got Liara, and got her again in LOTSB. However, if the rumors are true about our secret character in ME3, I may have to reconsider.

Josh Shep - Liara, faithful, Liara in LOTSB
Ashok Shep - Ash then Miranda now looking forward to the catfight.
Svetlana Shep - Kaidan (alive) then Thane
Kenya Shep - Kaidan (dead) then Garrus
Diego Shep - Ash (dead) then Tali

Haven't decided about my future run throughs yet.

My Shepards normally don't cheat (7/10 have only one LI), mainly because if their preferred LI isn't available, they sit and brood (one Shepard still wants the Illusive man...).

One of Shepard who does cheat is total womanizer - from both games the only twosex option he'd missed were Miranda (and I'm planning the new playthrough to fix that) and Ashley through failed threesome attempt. Would he return to one of LI? Highly unlikely, Mark would probably go for new one.

Another is worst import who romanced Ashley, then had renegade sex with Jack and almost had with Miranda (the last mission before O4 was Jack's loyalty, then he sided with Jack in conflict). The only two people survived SM were Morinth and Kasumi. I expect that this Shepard would have to deal with pretty irritated ex in ME3.

I really hate when people call what happened to Shepard cheating, at least when it comes to Fshep. Kaidan does dump her, saying he's moved on and considers dating some chick on Citadel. If a guy needs to go out with another girl to figure out if he wants me back, then sorry, but this is not my kind of guy. The one who says he'll follow me to hell and back is! I did save one fshep that is going to stay faightfull for science but my canon Shep is more then happy to "cheat" on VS and continue saving the Galaxy with a turian vigilante at her side.
