But she can lift a herd of halla. And wrestle them. Unfortunately all the luchadore moves she performed on those creatures had her clan's entire herd die from internal injuries.

Hey, at least the clan had enough food to last them through the winter.

And they're the ones that put her up to it. Merrill won 80 sovereigns wrestling those halla.

The elves should look like sleestaks in DA3.

I'm really hoping when I look back here in a year or two, I don't say "You know, that's actually MORE believable than what actually happened."

There are cows in DA. It's mentioned in a banter in one of the DLCs.

Good Lrod, that picture maybe shows off why I can't stand to see Merrill unclothed. Its not her being incredibly over-skinny (although that does play into it... nasty) but its the NECK!

Look at where her shoulder pads are, versus where her head starts. That's almost a foot! That's like an E.T. neck right there!

That pretty freaky, Bowie.

We don't know that the Thedas concept of cows is the same as our world's concept of cows. Cows could be giant geckos who roam the countryside, eating dragon dung.

You know, since we can say the concept for beauty in Thedas can be different for "beautiful elves" I've decided anything not explicitly spelled out for me in Thedas can instantly be any random off the wall thing I can think of.

0.0 What has been seen cannot be unseen, I never saw that before.

Change that detail and they will be fine - have the chin start where the scarf ends?

And aren't elves supposed to be thin? I never read about any bulky or fat elves in Tolkien's works, they were always described as thin and agile with longer ears and slender bodies. Fits the bill quite well imo.

And now I have a picture of a new elven race called the Fatelves that can't go out of my head... damn.

You do know that people have naturally elongated necks in our world too, right?

I have seen people with long neck, my problem with the elves is the insect-type-face and utter skinny bodies. They look sick to me, they do not look beautiful nor magical just very sick humanoids.

Not beautiful but very pretty and she looks normal.

Fenris stands looking like the "undead" from World of Warcraft... yes why can they stand up like normal humanoids? please? or do the elves carry  3 tons of invisible "matter" to have their back bent like that?

I always took Fenris's posture to be something akin to a loosely coiled snake. He's ready to spring into an attack stance or strike should the need arise. I don't recall any other elf who stood in this fashion - it seems to be something related to his character.

The elves don't appear sickly to me. They look different from humans, though humanoid in body structure. I suppose I still wonder why elves *need* to look beautiful and/or "normal" - whatever "normal" is. They're non-human creatures, and since this is the DA-verse, they don't necessarily have to correlate to any other universe's established model for an elf.

The male elves in the Alienage stand in the same hunched over position and walk the same way Fenris does, if that's what you're referring to.

So it's not a unique Fenris thing sadly.

I don't think it is, actually - I've seen several Dalish fellows who share Fenris' posture and idle animations.

It's been stated a few times that humans in the DA-verse generally think elves are attractive. That's the only thing that puzzles me, personally. I can accept that some humans find elves especially beautiful, but that they have a broad appeal is something I find a little odd.

I like the paint of the horse and rider in MotA. I found the codex regarding the scarcity of horses in the DA universe to be comical.

I wanted to tell you guys, that i will post the results of the poll at the 20th of this month as the newer elves design poll' results

If the one that you choose didnt won. Then please dont say it was an unfair poll or anything like that, because it wasnt, it had only 2 options and the one that will get the most options will win anyways,
so if you still havent voted vote now.

Sorry, nope. Just a human with pointy ears, not good enough.

I like my elves looking like anorexic aliens thank you very much.

I agree with that (though the "new Elves" could use a few pounds). As for the pictures, not only is she "too human" looking, but she apparently lost a fight with an opponent wielding a stapler.

While this is your poll, I think that the poll should be left open until the thread is dead for at least a week.

At the very least, edit the first post to say when you'll close the poll because people may not see your post if this thread gets more pages.

A little late to the bonfire here on this one, but...

...most of the people in the world with a neck almost a foot long aren't ALSO barely five feet tall. Unless they do some sort of tribal practice of elongating their necks. In which case... I guess I don't see any Dalish neck rings?

I would like to have a word with you about that.

I stand at 6'1 right now -- still growing -- and I have a naturally elongated neck.

Okay... how did that invalidate my point?

I'm 6'4" (NOT still growing) and have an 8" neck. If you are 6'1" and have a ten inch neck, that wouldn't look that out of proportion.

If you were 4'10" (as I imagine Merril to be, given the height of her versus other characters) then having one foot of your body being your neck would be E.T.-like.

6'4" is 76 inches, 8 of which would mean my neck is 10% of my length. 6'1" would be 73 inches, so a 12 inch neck would be 15% of your length.

A foot long neck when you are 4'10" would be over 20% of your entire body length composed of only neck. That's one fifth. That's pretty freaky, Bowie.

Hawke is about 6 feet tall I think, and Merrill stands 1-3 inches shorter than Hawke. Carver happens to be an inch or two taller than Hawke.

So I think that the proportions are fine.

Does the toolset in Origins give off height for the characters? I think it gives off the age of characters -- since Marethari is described as 108 -- in the toolset.

Really? Anytime I noticed Hawke standing next to Merril, she appeared to be much shorter than three inches, but maybe that was my own perceptions.

Although, these measurements might all be fairly arbitrary, as in a fantasy/somewhat medieval world, everyone may be drastically shorter than our standards of today, if things match our own medieval time.
